Sohail Tanvir

An up and coming left arm medium pacer with an unusual action and a knack for picking up big wickets. Picked seemingly out of the blue for the Twenty20 Championship in 2007, he made his mark with consistent and disciplined bowling that helped Pakistan to the tournament final. Throw in the display of some decent batting ability, and he soon earned ODI selection and then a Test cap.
The jury is still out on the young bowler from Rawalpindi for the longer version of the game but he was able to become a regular member of the Twenty/20 and one day sides. His bowling ability howvever was further tested as batsman got used to his slingshot, wrong-footed action.
Tanvir earned great praise with a fantastic display for the Rajasthan Royals at the inaugural IPL where he was leading wicket taker and helped the Royals to victory in that tournament. He also played a season for South Australia Redbacks in Australia's domestic T20 competition.
Sohail has worked hard on perfecting the inswinger to right handers and bowls this delivery with more regularity these days, although his outswinger that slants across the right hander remains his stock delivery. He is yet to show his full batting talent at international level, although audiences have seen the occasional glimpse of this.
However poor form of late has led to him being withdrawn from Pakistans last few squads and with the return of the ICL defectors and up and comers like Mohammad Aamer, his work will be cut out to force himself back into the squad.
