Yasir Hameed

After a sensational debut in test cricket against Bangladesh in 2003, Yasir's career slowly faded away as he failed to string a series of good performances at the top of the Pakistani batting order.
An elegant right handed strokemaker who at his best is very easy on the eye and can hit the ball ever so cleanly on both sides of the wicket. A lovely driver of the ball straight down the ground and especially through the covers, Yasir's problems seem to have been of his own making and at times loose shot selection or poor concentration have resulted in his dismissal. His main weakness seems to be outside the off stump where he has the tendency to flash at wide deliveries and he also struggled against Anil Kumble's leg spin.
He has predominantly been used as an opener, but has also had the opportunity to bat at the number 3 position. His average in test cricket of 34 is disappointing however with Pakistan continuing to experiment with openers, he may find himself back in the fold with some good performances at domestic level.
