I havent always been the most ardent supporter of Waqar. But as a coach he seems more than just promising. When he was bowling coach he did a good job with the likes of Gul and now he's brought about a visible improvement in our bowlers focus and discipline. I think he deserves heaps of credit for the way Gul is bowling and Amir looks more focused, has developed an inswinger which he uses intelligently.
Also, it looks like we have very set and very good plans to bowl to every single aussie batsman and they are working nicely. Good work Wiki bhai, respect.
Now if we could get a good batting coach to go along we might start to develop an actual test team...maybe?

haha. Well, I meant more as a coach and some of the things he's been doing after he retired. I'm definitely not 5! :)
"bowl full" thats is what waqar want.. and we saw what happened today specially gul when he pitched a bit fuller than his normal short of length deliveries..
hats off to a great fast bowler and now a bowling coach.. and im sure the fast bowlers warming the bench also learned alot from him..

The whole coaching team seem to be doing a good job.
What Waqar has done with Gul is amazing and for me it's the story of this tour so far. Aamer and Asif are doing exactly what we expected them to do but Gul has raised his test performances massively. He looks more confident than he has in the last 12 months.
Ijaz has done something with the fielding too and the players have shown significant improvements, no more so than Salman Butt. Standing at point and doing well? Who would have thought it, eh? Kamran too.

Gul has turn a leaf in test his bowling has been so much improved in the last 2 test.
he can bowl in tests after all.
AAG is lethal and can burn you if not careful.
Another good thing with Gul is that he is very economical, every time he is been hit is when he tries to bang in short or strays down the leg. Other than that he is bang on target and very difficult to get away as he hits the deck very hard.
Credit for this must go to the coaches also of course, both waqar and aquib javed.

Pakistani coaches do work, its one thing i have said on many occasions the main thing is that we give them enough time. I was also keen to see Ijaz Ahmed elevated from U19 level coach, he has also made a clear difference.
Fitness is the key, we haven't had any major injury worries which is great for such a long tour. Dont forget its very early days!
Umer Gul did not bowl a no-ball, so well done bowling coaches.

Excellent work by Waqar Younis, one of the very few true professionals left in our cricket establishment. Great to see it is rubbing off on the bowlers seeing the way they were hitting their lengths.
Though I must say my personal respect will not decrease regardless of how he performs as a coach, he will always remain a true LEGEND to me.

Just for the record;
Both Gul and Asif bowled a no-ball each, remarkable improvement from the last test though

You guys need to calm down, the real test will come when we have to bowl on flat tracks against batsmen with their eye in. See how good our plans are in that scenario.

sahi baat hai, but our fielding has definitely picked up under the current setup.

Yep Waqar is great for the team but Ijaz (not Butt) should get credit too. He has told the batsmen to leave bouncers and balls outside off and it seems to be taking effect.
Both Waqar and Ijaz have done a very good job so far. The fielding has definitely improved and the bowlers certainly know how to bowl on the English pitches. The real test, though, will come on a flat deck and how the bowlers respond. But, for now, the coaching staff have a done a very good job.
Now all we need is a proper Batting coach to help out the youngsters. If we can get someone like Graham Gooch - who has done a wonderful job with some of the young English batsmen - then our coaching staff will be complete. :)

I wonder if Asif will be picked for flatter Multan type pitches. He probably will, but I have a feeling a youngster should be preferred, atleast for a game or two.
Also, we should probably rest Amir and Gul for atleast one of the test matches against England. But again, dont think that will happen unless one of them is injured.

hahahahahahaha
The only difference between today and yesterday are these godawful defensive fields. Someone really needs to fix this now.

:))) :))) :))) EVERYBODY on this forum who are saying "we have bowled badly" are dumb to say the least, they're never able to appreciate the opposition. Ponting and Clarke have batted superbly, we have not been bowling badly at all.

I'd like to see Gul in normal, non-seaming conditions (even Aussie-like) before judging Waqar. If Umar Amin and Shane Watson can take wickets here, even a coachless bowler can do wonders.
