COLOMBO: Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh, who was left out of the playing eleven, on Tuesday lost his cool and showed his middle finger at the Sri Lankan fans who jeered him with "water boy" chants during the third Test.
The incident happened during the opening day of the final Test when 12th man Yuvraj entered the ground and made his way towards his teammates with water bottles and some drinks in hand.
But soon a section of the spectators started booing by calling him "water boy". An enraged Yuvraj then raised his middle finger towards the booing fans.
Taking note of the incident, Team India manager Ranjib Biswal said they are planning to file a police complaint against the fans who jeered Yuvraj.
"We are mulling to lodge a police complain against the fans who had tried to jeer Yuvraj when he had come out to provide drinks during the match," he said.
Yuvraj, who missed the second Test due to illness, failed to make it to the playing eleven in the final match also.
Sri Lanka were at 293 for 4 at the draw of stumps on the first day of the final Test at P Sara Oval here.
India are 0-1 down in the three-match series, having lost the first match and drawn the second.
lol:))
Oh dear, TOI changed the whole story now-
Crowd fingers 'waterboy' Yuvraj
COLOMBO: From dashing middle-order batsman to sidelined 'waterboy', it's been a dispiriting drop for Yuvraj Singh. And the Lankan crowd rubbed it in on Tuesday, making sure to remind him he'd been left out of the team for the third Test for Suresh Raina.
The T Murugaser stand adjacent to the dressing room made sure Yuvraj stayed in the limelight. The Oval Taverners bar kept the club members throats suitably greased, and fun and frolic turned to temper tantrums.
As Yuvraj was carrying drinks back from the ground after the tea break, one fan shouted, "Why are you carrying the water?" Others followed suit. One gesticulated, giving Yuvraj the finger. An agitated Yuvraj pointed it all out to local authorities.
The audience might not have heard what Yuvraj was saying, but it was obvious that he was complaining. This goaded them further, and the taunts intensified. The police was immediately ushered in to keep things quiet.
It's hard to be tough on the club's members though, and the crowd was allowed to stay put, making for some uneasy moments. "Waterboy, waterboy/Don't let me down waterboy", they sang in mock defiance and took to praising every Indian player coming out of the ground. "Munaf Patel, you will be captain one day," they shouted. Pragyan Ojha was hailed as the next Muttiah Muralitharan, but the best cheer was reserved for Raina: "Raina, Raina, well done man/You have made us all proud."
Every once in a while, they would return to Yuvraj. "You are my sunshine/You are my waterboy/We want our waterboy," they sang in unison, as Yuvi bristled in the dressing room.

Malik's no where near Yuvraj's class man ,what are you talking about?
These are bad times for him, performance is still not bad although we do expect much more from him coz we know what's he worth.
He did spank a run a ball century in the tour game when we struggled against Mendis,
We have too many options for test cricket, that goes against him.

That i agree to.
But its his life and we have options. Yuvraj can chose what kind of life he wants. If he keeps his mind into cricket then he can achieve great things. He already has achieved a lot, but obviously we'll call him an under achiever knowing his true worth.
You can probably call him a non druggy, non fighting, non cocky version of Shoaib Akhtar.

I agree that yuvraj deserved to be dropped but people are forgetting all the matches Yuvraj has helped india win alot ODIs. He's helped india win test series against england and 2 vs sri lanka as well, and a t20 world cup. (not that I care much about that.) He's not as crap a player as people are making him out to be.

Well According to other newspaper its the other way round:
"It all started when a bunch of intoxicated youngsters had a go at Ishant Sharma, who was at the boundary. Then, it was Yuvraj’s turn. Benched for the match, Yuvraj was greeted with chants of “Water boy, water boy why ain’t you playing,” as he served drinks to his teammates.
Though Yuvraj restrained himself, he lost his cool after “a fan pointed a finger in a wrong manner towards him”, according to an eyewitness.
Following this, Yuvraj reported the incident to the team management and local authorities present at the ground."

I am afraid Yuvraj is going down the Ponting way.
Ponting was at the top of his career in 2007, then he started getting into these unncessary troubles and his game got effected because of that. And when his game wasnt going right, he got even more mad and been more in news for controversies and other things and less for his batting briliance that made him the big star.
Lol yuvi is no Ponting.
Ponting even in bad form scores more than Yuvraj :D
Just comparing the downfall.
Get back to your game Yuvi. I believe in you ;)

3 absolute idiots were sitting in the vip area and constantly jeering Yuvi. You can ignore the mob at times but there was not much crowd and i dont think any other aggressive cricketer could have stayed quite either
There was no finger gesture by Yuvraj, he just talked to the team management and then asked the security officials to take care of their job. Those guys were rightly made to exit.

You know what's even sadder? This "fat loser" who is rightly not in the Indian team, would WALK INTO THE PAKISTANI BATTING ORDER. In fact, I would go so far as to say that if yousuf doesn't play the next game, Yuvraj would be the best batsman in your side.
He hit a 50 recently and he was still dropped. If a pak batsman hit a 50, that would mean his place in the side would be secure for another 2 seasons.

Hmm..you really cant take any criticism of your players, even when its an actual news story, and not a random postmocking your players!
If you want to keep posting here - take heed of the previous warnings youve been sent.

Excuse me? What has he achieved? The only thing he has achieved is a T20 WC. Even Shahzaib Hasan has achieved that..
hmm.. did you just compare Shahzaib to Yuvraj? :o :14:

I dont understand why some Indian fans are getting so worked up.
Its a news story that actually happened - yet poster after poster keeps telling us how crap Pak are when anyone calls Yuvraj a Waterboy - we're not making it up; not creating the story or the reaction; we didnt even create the tagline 'waterboy'
Jeez, dont be so protective. We've called Fawad Alam the drinks carrier / the Waiter etc etc for the last 2 years!
And yes, the story is hilarious!

I strongly object to the 'boy' in 'waterboy' though. Yuvi is hardly a boy. He is a paai now.

Yuvraj, the watereboy, is making productive use of his non-waterboy-related time (cricinfo photo):

Yuvraj is easily the most stylish I've ever seen. I can barely remember a waterboy as elegant as him. Infact, I can barely remember any other waterboy at all.

Couldn't agree more. I think it will only be fair to say that Yuvi has completely redefined the art and science of waterboy.
