Right guys, I wanted to create a thread on my thought on Pakistan so far in the UK as we are at the halfway stage and we have had plenty to think about!!

Right it started off with the two T20's at Edgbaston versus Australia. It was important that we won as Australia have had a mental hold on us prior to these games. We excelled and showed that we are a better T20 team despite Australia being better athletes and having four 90mph + bowlers in the team. Afridi's captaincy was not too bad and Akmal, Ajmal, Amir and Gul helped with useful contributions. The support was fantastic as there were hardly any Aussies.

We then had the two test matches versus the Aussies. Why we had two tests and not three is a bizarre decision but whats done is done. It was a wonderful sight seeing Pakistan in whites again, especially at Lords. No doubt the youngsters saw it as a very special occasion. In the Lords game, I would say that Salman Butt carried us single handedly when it comes to the batting. Our bowlers were fantastic but we lost and Afridi did a cowardly act and gave up. Not a problem, Salman Butt comes into the frame as captain at Headingley and what can I say, our bowlers were awesome in useful conditions and played with courage. I now even like Asif and realise he is not a complete thicko after setting up batsmen! Our batting let us down again but we survived and won the game. Its significance should not be underplayed. Australia have Annihilated us of late and we needed to break the shackles. It was done with some drama but wetted my appetite for the four tests versus England. Many of you may disagree but this victory meant more to me then the T20 world cup final. Upto this point we were a team with no belief and the victory was great!!

We then go onto the two tests versus England. First at trent bridge where our bowlers were again very good on the whole. Our fielders are batsmen let us down badly and I am confident that the result would have been much closer had we held our catches. Kamran was the villain for me and rightly so. This is top level sports and you have to take Responsibility. Our batsmen all seemed short of confidence.

We then had the recent Edgbaston test. The hero was Saeed Ajmal and Zulqarnain Haider. Zulqarnain made me proud to be a Pakistani and showed fight! Yes fight, and that is what we need more then anything!! When Saeed Ajmal scored his half century and shouted "Yes", I had shivers down my spine. It was a passionate and brave knock and may help us in the next few games as it may have rubbed off on some of the players that all you need is fight. He deserves his bruises on his forearms as a reminder of his battle!

We now have two tests to play in two very prestigious grounds and then 5 ODI's and two T20's versus England.

I know that we have bee wrist slitting on this site at times (well actually alot of the time!) but I am confident that all we need is a confident half century from the top four to start the trend. We have the bowling and fielding will improve when the confidence improves. We will never be as mentally strong as the English or the Aussies. In our basic makeup we are passionate people whose moods go up and down so we have to accept that it will mirror on the wicket.

I still believe that we can draw the series. I am not too bothered about team selection as it never makes any sense and never will!

Lets cheer our boys on and get them to kick some backside. Salman Butt, Farhat and Umar Akmal are all due to big knocks. If they can do so then it will encourage the Umar Amins and Azhar Alis.

What are your thoughts on the tour so far. I am just happy that we are playing regular cricket and being tested. Without this, we will never develop/

Good summary on behalf of the fans who haven't given up!

On the face of it, so far we have beaten Australia in the T20 series and drawn the test.

We are 2-0 down to England but they were not as big a beatings as the numbers suggest and as you said, were it not for shoddy fielding I am convinced it would be at least 1-1 and that too without MoYo and YK is pretty good going. With Two tests remaining and Aamer and Asif still looking fit, its far from over.

Bump as cricket fever will start again with the oval test tomorrow.

Thanks SOSami for the comments. You have summed it up perfectly. We won the T20 series versus Australia, drew the test series versus Australia and can still potentially draw the England Test series with the England ODI's and T20's to come.

Bring it on!!

this is a thread for real pak cricket fans.

i posted this comment a few days back on another thread, thought it s right place would be on this thread.
http://www.pakpassion.net/ppforum/showthread.php?t=100265

had to bump this

what i don't understand is why fans, moderators, ex players and cricket pundits have all of a sudden decided to put the team down left right and centre. didn't you expect this ?

Before the start of the summer we were going miss younis and yousuf, Umar's form has also affected the team, who would have thought Afridi was going to step down, also seeing the kaneria situation we still find a way to criticise the team.
knowledge ex cricketers trying to make the situation a political one by calling the team a punjab 11.

ask yourself this question wasn't loosing to England 4 nil on the cards before the start of the summer. we knew our batting was going to have it tough.
there is still 2 more tests left, even if we loose the series 4 nil, obviously i will be sad but i was not expecting much more.

we won the 2 t20's
we won a test match against Australia.
i couldn't have asked for more.

i will be disappointed if we don't manage to win a couple of ODI's and at least one T20 against England.

i don't mean to be disrespect full but some people need a reality check

i dont know what u guys were expecting from the team, but yeah this reality and some people should have seen this coming a month ago rather then falling in the false sense of security thinking this wasnt on the cards.

Right ladies and gentleman,

Time to bump this thread and not to gloat but to educate some of the wrist slitters on this forum.

Here is the current position of Pakistan's England 2010 tour.

Won T20 series v Australia
Drew Test series V Australi
2-1 down versus England in test series with one still to play at Lords. Potential 2-2 or 3-1 to England.

I think it has been a fruitful tour for Pakistan bearing in mind we new and young players with little experience of England such as Azhar Ali, Umar Amin, Umar Akmal, Mohammed Amir, Saeed Ajmal, Wahab Riaz and Zulqarnain Haider.

Lets get behind the team.

Trust me, we would of beat Australia 2-0 and would be up 3-0 up against England if we could only hold onto our catches.

Enjoy Lords on Thursday!!

Excellent stuff Waq.

I think the negativity surrounding the team was a trigle overbearing, but you have to hand it to the boys, they really have shut quite a few of their critics up and saved the lives of quite a few wrist slitters :)

Good thread, Waq.

So far so good. If we can somehow make it 2-2, then with limited over matches to come, we can potentially win overall against both Australia (we have already done that) and England, inshaAllah.

Bumped again and for one reason only.

There is a massive test match tomorrow at the home of cricket which will allow Pakistan to remain undefeated series wise!!!

Why is the forum so quiet about this game and why is there so much chat about the T20's and the ODI's?

Forget them until next week!!

Can Butt build upon his aggressive 30 odd at the Oval?

Can Azhar Ali or Yousuf get a century?

Can we carry on where we left off at the Oval with our much improved fielding?

Can Ajmal score a half century at Lords!!

Can Amir and Asif blast away England again?

Can Farhat score a run for his father in law?

Can one of the Akmal bruvs do something of note?

I shall be looking to bump this thread again at the conclusion of the tests. The bottom line is that we have played five and lost 3 and won 2. I would have taken that at the start of the summer as we have been so abysmal of late. We can know do even better and make it 3-3 for all tests played against perhaps the best two test nations in the world in some of the toughest conditions!

Please bear in mind that Afridi was the captain coming into the UK and he had some time to prepare and then the doughnut quit after one match and thrusted it onto Salman Butt. Lets get behind Salman as he was not expecting this and has had no time to prepare or stamp his authority. He at the very least deserves two more series after this one so in the meanwhile, lets get fully behind him.

Yep - really looking forward to the game but unfortunately will be miles away without any TV coverage. Thank God for TMS and thank God for Radio 4 just generally!

As for the game - Pakistan's record in London is pretty good. We have never won in the midlands and after the first 2 games it is pretty clear why! However Lords has never been the last game of the season so it'll be interesting how it plays.

A lot depends on conditions in England, and Lords is no different. So the toss is vitally important. However we don't bat well first up either way so I think we should bowl whatever the conditions.

Couldn't give a monkey's inter-married cousin's father about the jamoidis - even less about the 20 over slogfests. If we can come back from 2nil it will be the greatest recovery in our history and the best for all nations in 50 years.

Test cricket is what it is all about - the rest are just a way of exploiting gullible fans into separating them from their cash. You know what they say about fools and their money. So the question to all the garbage cricket lovers - do you enjoy being a fool!

Anyway I'm sure we can win tomorrow but only if we hold our catches. Do that and there is no better team in the world.

I love this thread but a little disappointed that not many people are posting here. This kind of thread will really give a true fan something to cheer about. I am also really looking forward to tomorrow's test. I will worry about ODI's and T20's starting next week. Until then, lets get behind this young team and put your personal differences aside. It really hurts me when I see people hoping for Pakistan to lose. I for one, will never hope for Pakistan to lose and will always back the team no matter who is selected and underperforming. At the end of the day, it's Pakistan team and I put my personal grudges against any player aside when it comes to Pakistan cricket. So come on guys, lets get together and cheer for the men in green.

LETS GO MEN IN GREEN!!!

Carrying on the theme of this thread..come on boyssssssssszzzzssszzz.

Gul & Wahab fighting out the third seamers position
Azhar Ali has 92* and a vital half-century vs the Aussies
Butt top scoring in the last chase
Yousuf batting like the old maestro that we all know he is
Amin waiting in the sidelines
Asif & Aamer looking as fresh as the day they landed all those weeks ago

...and now the Beast has Landed:afridi

Just one last performance at Lords lads but even if it doesn't work out, well played.:14:

Didn't know the Test starts tomorrow. When the match ended (on Saturday), I heard Nasser saying "the bowlers have a week to recover".. oh well
