Incase you were wondering what Moin Khan does in his spare time....

Moin Khan leads Sixes squad
Cricinfo staff

September 30, 2005

Moin Khan will captain a strong Pakistan squad in the Hong Kong Sixes at Kowloon Cricket Club on October 22 and 23. Naved Latif, Riaz Afridi, Mohammad Hafeez and Yasir Arafat - all with international experience - are also in the seven man party.

The remaining two places are taken by Tahir Khan and Kamran Hussain. Pakistan will line up in Pool B for the preliminary round of the matches, alongside India, South Africa and West Indies. They have previously won the tournament on four occasions and are most successful team along with England.

Squad Moin Khan (capt), Yasir Arafat, Naved Latif, Riaz Afridi, Mohammad Hafeez, Tahir Khan, Kamran Hussain.

I think these are more than likely a group of people who wont be considered for the England series ?? Which could explain the likes of hafeez and Moin in this line up?

mansoor amjad or tariq mahmood should also be in the squad
they are good spinning allrounders

yea i tend to agree as bob said he does not compare the ODI vs. 20/20 cricket and this is only like 6 overs

no Imran Nazir ?!!

Our best sixes squad was a few years ago. It included:

Wasim Akram
Afridi
Razzaq
Azhar
Imran Nazir
Shoaib Malik
Rana Naved

Of the current players who are available, I would have probably had the following team:

Moin Khan
Naved Latif
Mohd. Hafeez
Yasir Arafat
Azhar Mahmood
Imran Nazir

these Honk Kong sixes is perhaps the last time we ll see Moin Khan in action on a cricket field
what a career he has had ...........
my mind can still go to the 1992 WC semi final ...where Moin Khan's six and four came at a crucial stage and the euphoria created in my neighbourhood as a result of those two blows is still fresh in my minds

Nonsense players for a nonsense tournament. A very good squad for once.

It is pointless to send someone like Imran Nazir for such tournaments.

I'm of the opinion that players with futures should not be sent to such tournaments. Messes up their mechanics. That means Yasir Arafat and Tahir Khan. I would send Nazir though.

Here's the saffie squad!!!!

Gerald Dros of the Nashua Titans will once again lead the South African team that will take part in the Hong Kong Cricket Sixes tournament on October 22 and 23.

Dros and his team will hope to fare better this time around than last year when they finished seventh out of eight teams in the tenth anniversary of the tournament. Last year marked the centenary celebrations of the Kowloon Cricket Club.

South Africa has been drawn in Pool Two and will come up against Pakistan, India and West Indies. Pool One is made up of defending champions, England, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka and Australia. The two top teams in each pool qualify for the cup semifinals, while the bottom two teams play in the plate knockout competition.

Adam Bacher is the only member of the squad who has represented South Africa in both tests and one-day Internationals. Eugene Moleon who has been selected for this tournament for the first time has added another feather to his cap - he has been appointed the new captain of the North West Powerade Dragons, this season. He succeeds Richard Stroh.

Bacher, Ahmed Amla and Tyron Henderson are also the first-timers whereas William Hantam, Goolam Bodi and Dros played in last year's tournament.

The South African squad is as follows:

Gerald Dros (capt) - Nashua Titans
Ahmed Amla - Nashua Dolphins
Adam Bacher - Highveld Lions
Goolam Bodi - Nashua Titans
William Hantam - Nashua Cape Cobras
Tyron Henderson - Mercedes Warriors
Eugene Moleon - Highveld Lions

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ahmed Amla is Hashim's brother...who came riding in on the pony (remember Miggy) ;-)

And Goolam's the guy who kept Pietersen out of the KZN team....

Only one Cobra :12:

I'd echo Marooned sentiments. Sending Imran Nazir to something like this will only worsen his ADHD

Surely if cricketers are bowling at people weilding cricket bats on a cricket field, it MUST be cricket?

watched Pakistan vs INdia , Pakistan lost ....

In one pool Australia and England have 4 points , Sri Lanka 2 and Hongkong 0 , Tomorrow first match is Sri Lanka vs Honk Kong and if Sri Lanka wins then the two team with best run rate will go to Semi Final.

In the other pool West Indies and India have 4 points , Pakistan has 2 points , and South Africa has 2 or 0 , not sure .... West Indies and India are through to the Semi Final.

finally indian won here
but in local news they said "upsets" in sixers :))) :)))

I m not sure if Pakistani players were much interested this time around as against India even they had wickets in hand, they only scored 6 runs and didn't went for big hits which would have made difference in end.
