Or as Adil Ray mentioned on his twitter maybe he is to meet Sue from News Of The World. haha
http://tribune.com.pk/story/55665/yasir-hameed-to-sue-news-of-the-world/
Test Cricketer Yasir Hameed has decided to take legal action against the British tabloid News of the World.
According to reports Yasir Hameed has told PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt about his intentions. Hameed has also sought permission from Butt to file a defamation case against the newspaper.
The News of the World had published reports about Hameed stating that the Pakistani cricket team is involved in match fixing. A video of that allegedly showed Hameed talking to a News of the World reporter was also released.
However, the cricketer denied having made the allegations and said he had never given an interview to the News of the World.

The Yasir Hameed piece was by far the weakest in the list of NOTWs main 'scoops'. The accompanying article quoting numerous statements which didn't appear in the video and it being an obvious case of entrapment with the paper trying to constantly coax him made it a diluted effort more geared towards selling papers at all costs rather than being indicative of any real substance.
Hope the guy wins! :14:

Yasir should sue NOTW. tatic was of a scum bag to put words in his mouth. They publish his words without getting his permission. Freedom of speech / press should come along with some ethics and law which NOTW do not seem to posses.
I hope Yasir takes them to cleaners.

Sure he gets the money back if he wins but he still has to pay out for legal fees up front.

I am actually glad they uncovered all theh fixing going on in the pak team.
Coz it seemed like no one else even our so called captain butt wanted to do anyhting about it.
Thank you NOTW for uncovering the lying, cheating judas' in our team.

And how do you know that his case is very strong?
The NOTW is controlled by one of the most wealthiest and powerful media moguls on this planet - you really think they would have left themselves open to be successfully sued?
They may be immoral but the NOTW certainly arent stupid.

You need to see the video and then read what is claimed by NOTW in the publication. Most of the things in there were a huge stretch and many he did not say. So he should have a very strong case here.

He's full of crap. So much talk of sueing from both sides of the camp, England and Pakistan. It will be interesting to see if any of them come to materialise or are just hot air/clever use of the media to deflect attention to the other party.

i agree with Random Aussie - where's our 'SUE HIM!' smiley?
i've never come across a forum where most of its members are so clueless in regards to judging the merits of any potential legal action, and are also so quick to jump on the "SUE HIM!" bandwagon
and the same applies to most of the Pakistan cricket team/management and especially their legal advisors
so i will repeat the question i asked in another fred
do all the lawyers in Pakistan have legitimate qualifications? especially the ones who are advising the players and the PCB? (not including the London-based lawyers)
I'm sure i read a fred on this board regarding some scandal involving Pakistan lawyers/judges who were practising with fake degrees. Can someone confirm this?

Presumably they are probably the same lawyers who thought a valid defence would be to...
In a brazenly hypocritical display, a further argument from News International's side was to the effect that photographs not intended for publication should never find their way into a national newspaper!

Yes, Majid's NOTW-funded lawyers tried to claim Majid deserved press protection, the very same protection they were lobbying to have removed for many other unsavoury characters. Oh the irony.

Or maybe it's the other lawyers that informed The NOTW it was fine to use information derived from the illegal tapping of voicemails.:P
I agree law-suits are often thrown around on PP but from what I've seen a few of these cases are not pursued due to financial constraints and logistics. If they were UK sportsmen a lot of them may follow up some of the allegations through legal channels. Whether they are won or lost, that is a different kettle of fish of course.

Nowhere in the article did it mention money.
All he has done is complain to the Press Commission and that complaint was upheld, therefore an apology and the story has been withdrawn. No $$$$ unless there is another article somewhere.
To get money he needs to sue them and prove defamation. Having a complaint upheld is not evidence of defamation.
