Internet - yes, but you need wifi connection.
Phone/Sms - No
Camera- No
Youtube - Yes
Flash - No
Lots of Apps/games - yes after you jailbreak your iTouch
Contract/Payg - No , its like buying a normal mp3 player/iPod
You can save videos, pictures on it and you can also check mails. Its iPhone without phone/camera.

No it does not have phone in it, however, you can have Skype and use it as a phone.
No, there is no contract whatsoever.
Yes, the latest one have 2 MP camera at the back whereas the front camera which is used for face time is VGA.
Yes, it does have internet as well (Wifi)
In simple words it is same as iPhone but it is slimmer, doesn't have bluetooth and phone built it.
Hope it helps!

Don't get it if you're like my dad and just thought it'd be cool to have something technologically advanced :P

I wonder why thesday dads like iPod Touch. My dad likes iPod Touch and has it as well whereas we have offered him countless time to take an iPhone instead of iTouch but he never agrees.

The day they realise they can plug it into the speakers in the car on long car trips will be the end of me. There's only so much Sangeet I can listen to before *death*. :moyo

No, my daughter wants it - I just need a mobile that makes calls and nothing else. 'Cool' is not an aspiration I have

Headphones are fine. I don't want to touture myself to death with hearing Lata, Rafi, Noor Jahan etc crying.

Then you'd want the iPhone...It's an iPod Touch which works as a phone...it will cost you a lot more than just an iPod Touch...get the iPod Touch for the daughter and buy yourself a classic older phone.

If you want it then get an iPhone instead :)

I dont want anything for my self.
And I dont particularly want my daughter to have a device that connects with the outside world if I can help it, hence trying to find out exactly what it does/doesnt do

If there are two iTouch then you can do Facetime (which is video calling in simply terms). So it is not a phone whatsoever. All the feature it has are exactly the same iPhone have.
Hope it make sense.

I think I will have to say 'NO' on this
I was hoping it was just an MP3/4 device

Only if her friend has iTouch then she would be able to connect to outside world otherwise she can't

iTouch does not enable your daughter to call/text people. Internet is your only worry. :jm

Its just a fancy mp3 player. You can connect to wifi though thats about it. So probably can be used for facebook msn etc if your in a wifi zone. Quite safe

Yes!
Just like laptops which are only accessible to internet via Wifi/wireless.

It's basically and Music and a Video player
The newer model has a camera
She can browse the internet, but she can only connect using the WiFi, if you want to restrict her access, then you put a password on it, and then whenever she want to use it she can come to you and you can put in the password
She can access the ''outside world" through facebook or any messenger
It's quite a simple device, not complicated

Yes only through wifi however there are quite a few public places that have free wifi like MacDonalds etc but you probably know what are the limitations you want.

I own one myself.
It's quite handy especially if you are around areas with Wi-fi.
It's an amped up MP3/video player with a variety of apps that help waste time. :D
I would rather have an Iphone, but this isn't too bad. It's not that complicated once one gets a hang of it.

But you can use skype on it as well right? The other person doesnt necessarily need to have an iTouch - the other person could be on their own computer?
