Raise major questions over Botha's bowling action as they did to Ajmal?

He last played the ODI series there in 08 as well as the T20WC 09.

Genuine question, I'm interested to know what the pundits had to say, if anything at all. :rondu

SUSPECT! Even with his offspinners

I think he has been reported once or twice for his action and was told not to bowl his doosra?

I have no problem with it as long as players are cleared by ICC.

Who cares about the stupid pundits. we have our own 30+k Pundits on PP,

Haha we did from the stands.

I remember in the T20 Semi final in 2009 he was fielding in front of our stand and I'm proud to say I sledged him after Afridi smashed him for 4 or 5 fours in an over. The stand all laughed at him too and he was not happy.

As for commentators, no. Apparently ICC clearance is only conclusive when applied to non-Pak players. Otherwise the likes of Ajmal should be re-tested according to Agnew types.

I have no problems with his action either and this isn't to do with todays result (though expect the usual brigade to take it that way).

What I'm asking is if the likes of Agnew, Willis etc voiced an opinion on his arm.. if they didn't, why not? Was it because he didn't do as well as Ajmal against England?

The look on his butha, after Afridi hit him for 4 sixes, today was priceless! :))

I'm not sure about Agnew or Willis, but there were certainly talks about his action, back in 2009.

South Africa's Johan Botha in line for ban over 'suspect action' South Africa spinner Johan Botha faces a second suspension after he was reported by match officials for a suspect bowling action during the team's one-day international victory over Australia at Port Elizabeth.

That's an article talking about an official report.

The likes of Willis were laying into Ajmal after he'd been cleared by the ICC and only after he helped Pakistan win the Oval test. Funny how it became a 'class comeback by Broad and Trott' at Lord's and all talks of Ajmal's action flew out of the window.

Well not everything commentators say during the match gets printed in the newspaper. People who watched those particular matches could perhaps tell you whether Willis was whinging about Botha's action or not.

Which is the purpose of this thread. Doesn't have to be Willis though, I'm just asking if the commentators fussed about it like they did about Ajmal. :raja

I've seen the full Pak-SA match many times and Willis (or anyone else for that matter) doesn't make any reference to it.

Not sure about other matches in that WC but I would guess no.

It's a valid point Botha is banned from bowling the doosra and his off spinner looks very dubious. Ajmal has been cleared to bowl the doosra but I really think Bob Willis didn't know about this so made a fool out of himself.

He bowled really well today.

Last time SA toured, Botha didn't play in the Tests.

He played in the one dayers though, and although I don't remember anything about this series except that England won 4-0, I would be amazed if his action didn't receive at least the odd passing comment.
