Pak team for New Zealand tour likely today

LAHORE: Pakistan cricket team is expected to be announced today for the tour of New Zealand as former captain Mohammad Yousuf and allrounder Sohail Tanveer are likely to be back in the squad.

The series, which will be played in New Zealand from December 26 to February 5, includes two Tests, six One-day Internationals and three Twenty20 internationals.

Yousuf and Sohail will be included in the team after clearing fitness test while Tanveer Ahmed, Asad Shafiq and Wahab Riaz, who displayed fine performance during the recent series against South Africa, will also be the part of the squad.

Salman Butt, Mohammad Aamer and Mohammad Asif will not be selected due to spot fixing charges while leg-spinner Danish Kaneria and wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal will likely to be remain ignored.

Misbah-ul-Haq will be captain of the Test team while Shahid Afridi will be remained captain of the ODI and T20 squad.

it's an overseas tour, you cannot realistically expect there to be specialists picked for T20 only.

not from the PCB anyway.

From what I saw in FBT20 he is not even a good Limited overs bowler now ... He was smacked by everyone for fours and sixes and ended up with an economy of mre than 10 in the tournament

In this case, they might do it slightly differently though? As the three T20s are right at the start.. then the two Tests.... and the six ODIs right at the very end.

Yep. The sixth ODI on 5th Feb is literally ten days or so before our first World Cup warm-up on 15th Feb!

Our first WC match is 23rd Feb.

International cricket is different to domestic cricket... T20 is also slightly different to ODI....

But either way...

I am not suggesting he replace the curret ODI bowlers... just not permanenetly discarded yet....

I dont think they'd like the ODI specialist to stay at NZ for the test series too. I think its a good time to select T20 specialists who will be back in Pak when the test starts. We can then send the ODI specialist after the test series
