From the past, it has to be Javed Miandad.

Current lot ? I would prolly say Shahid Afridi and perhaps Umar Gul for his exceptional diving skills (by Pakistani standards) to stop a boundary.

Hmm.

Afridi is up there. There is no doubting his effort - he gives it his all even if the batting lasts for a few moments.

Akhtar bowls with all he has, but doesn't give much of an effort in the field.

Ajmal is a fighter. He has serious heart. He gives it his all in everything he does.

If he showed a bit more determination I'd agree with you

if u think afridi doesnt try to give his 100 percent everytime eh comes out or whenever he represents his country then you are completely wrong and its utter nonsense simple as that

Shahid Afridi and Younus Khan are 2 Players that I have no doubts about

I think you're mixing sincerity and effort up with "wearing hearts on sleeves". Players like Mushtaq, Saqlain, Sohail, Waqar, Younus, Akhtar, Gul, Akram, Afridi and Ajmal play with their hearts on their sleeves. Others like Mohammad Yousuf, Mohammad Hafeez, Abdul Razzaq, Ijaz Ahmed, Shoaib Malik, Saeed Anwar and Inzamam are generally quite silent and emotionless when going abt their work

Shahid Afridi gives full effort on the field but if you call his batting "full effort" then its a shame he is still playing cricket.

Hitting sixes is not effort - slogging is the easy part of cricket.

I like to consider grinding it out when the going is tough and willing to curb your natural instincts for the betterment of the side as "full effort"

For the record I've always considered "hearts on sleeves" a tad overrated; I personally prefer strong silent types meself. Nothing wrong with passion of course :)

Afridi is never there. Heart is somthing what Razzaq did . Match saving inning against India and then another match winning knock against SA. Playing according to the situation. Playing the same irresponsible way most of your career is called brain fart.

Would MoYo count? He's as sensitive as a girl and complains the first opportunity he gets. Pretty emotional fellow imo.

Younis and Ajmal come to mind. Anyone got a pic of Ajmal after that over? Says it all.

He has the heart to sue Mazhar. That's what I call a "champion player".

well said......They guy is mental. He wouldn't survive as all rounder in any other team for more than three matches. If this is what giving it all for team and playing with heart and soul is considered then afridi is the most avg Pakistani cricketer to have played that many matches for Pakistan.

Bas yaar. People get emotional and wonder why Abdul Razzaq doesn't bowl fast anymore or why he doesn't hit fifties like other allrounders (as if most people hit fifties or so when getting to face 20 balls). I will admit that Abdul Razzaq's bowling is wrongly utilized and on the decline (which is why either Tanveer or Arafat needs to also play), and he tends to play within himself, but in a tough situation there's few better players MashaAllah.

Anyway Gullay epitomizes the "heart on sleeve" cricketer. Workhorse who, when properly motivated and in form, can be really lethal

Not really, all of them (except Malik) are emotional sorts ie "heart on sleeve"

I don't think OP realizes what "heart on sleeve" means. it means emotional, sort of dashing etc. I don't doubt their sincerity but Younus, Abdul Razzaq, Yousuf and Iftikhar don't fit into this category. They're more the quiet workhorse types

That's where your thinking is a bit off the mark. There's no doubting his devotion to the team, but he doesn't give his all, if he did, he'd apply himself better.

By my reckoning, I'd say Ajmal and YK are up there, along with Afridi and the new youngsters Asad and Azhar. Fawad is up there and Sami gives it his all, sadly it's bad but he gets marks for effort. And ofcourse, Akhtar :akhtar

Only a few cricketers who give everything and aren't controversial.

Younus Khan, Ajmal, Misbah, Gul, and they are only players i trust the most. Hopefully, the youngsters follow their examples, and that's good enough to lead the team to the right direction.

Agree with you. It's much easier to to give your 100% when you get out one ball duck. Or quit in the middle of a test series.

Shoaib Akthar playing for team? since start of this year maybe. At his peak Shoiab played for Shoaib and no one else, specially once Wasim and Waqar retired. I was big of his earlier in his career but then realised he is selfish and annoying prat.

if you're talking about players who really give their own then there's only 4 imo:

Azhar
Afridi
Akhtar
Ajmal

Idk how most of you include Younis Khan who didn't bother turning up and went fishing lol. Also he seems a pertty careless character on the field and when batting.

WHAT?! Please can you explain in what way Younish Khan is careless in the field and when batting. He has always been a very reliable slip and bats very sensibley in regard to the match situiation.
