Who is a better "Death Bowler"-Rana or Gul

Both are top bowlers to go to at the end of an inns.

I know in recent times Rana has been no where near his best but at his best he is brilliant, as is Gul who is out of form at the moment.

Gul has decent pace,yorkers,bouncers.

Rana has excellent slower balls, yorkers and more subtle variations than Gul.

At their peaks who would you have bowling at the death for you.

Incidently Rana hasnt played in a T20 WC, a format i think he would have done really well in while in form.

Rana is probably better than Gul, but Gul then again has better abilities with the new cherry.

But what I really dislike about Rana, he always performs EXCELLENT for his club teams but never wins a match for Pakistan with his death bowling abilities. Take Pakistan in Australia for example, he could have won us a few matches there. He might have "under-performed" but I was really disappointed.

Gul's yorkers are second to none however so it has to be him.

Gul is better when he gets it right. Even in this game, whenever he bowled a yorker it went for a max of one. Unfortunately, he's pretty brainless and needs to STILL be told that you bowl yorkers at the death and not length bowling. Rana knows this but his yorker isn't as good and he isn't as good at reverse swing but does have the better slower ball. The problem with Rana is that his extras at key moments often undo his good work.

I didnt create this thread because Gul had a bad game.

I created it because both are great death bowlers and i wanted to find out PPers views on who they believed was better at bowling at the death.

Yes he's in poor form and he's bowling pies too. And the way he bowled against McGlashan was stupid as any bowler would have 'learned' after one delivery against him, a maximum of two maybe. But he's still the best.

Rana is much better than Sami though.He has a lot of variations and bowled the slower balls well.One downfall was his lack of discipline,gives too many extras away.Also he played 9 Tests and was not very threatening at all.Averaged 58 with the ball :))

Its a valid question in my opinion. Rana was a great death bowler but he never got to play in a T20 WC which is why may not have recieved as many plaudits as Gul.

Gul is better than Rana by a mile. Gul is just out of form which can happen to any player. People asking that why Gul is not bowling yorkers at will, well the answer is that when you are out of form with the ball you are unable to hit the spot you want. I am sure sooner Inshallah Gul will be back with a bang.
