View Full Version : Imagine if a new monotheistic religion emerged

For example, lets take the Chinese people, who are known atheists.

Imagine if a imposter came along, who claimed to be a prophet and convinced them that he's a messenger of God. He then converts the Chinese into believers of the one God. Would you

a) Condemn this imposter because what he claims to be goes against the teachings of Islam, and reject their religion completely. Moreover, show your uproar :sami :chacha

b) Feel happy that once unbelievers have now become believers of one God :amla

c) Take a short nap, because you have too many problems of your own

Non-muslims can also contribute by telling how you would react to the emergence of new faith that contradicted yours to some extent or completely

I really couldn't care less. What difference does it make?

Kinda happened with Sikhism

If youre a muslim, it would be problematic because we believe that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is the last prophet, so someone else claiming to be a prophet would go against what we believe.

But I guess you would go with option C :ajmal

Yeah but Sikhs dont reject the Hindu God/Goddesses entirely.

So what if someone far away believes something different from me?

This situation is similar to that of the Ahmadis, who I have absolutely no problem with whatsoever.

There's nothing wrong if you are not really concerned. Thats why I have option C :afridi

From what I understand of the original post it seems the same.
I don't have any problems with Ahmadis who I consider my Muslim brothers.

Who did the Ahmadis regard as prophet? A little info. about him would be nice.

To be honest I am pleased by the retreat of Christianity in Europe, and disturbed by the growth of Islam.

I often feel the world would be better off without patriarchal monotheism - or at least the attitude of many of its believers - that God is warlike, judgemental and exclusively male. If this hypothetical belief system in China has a goddess as well as a god I will be happier with it. There would be a reduction in warfare, the crime of rape and the ruination of the environment.

The new religion should also not be inimicable to scientific inquiry, as much of Islam and American-style Christianity seems to be.

Then it would get the Robert rubber-stamp. ;-)
