[QUOTE=Mona]90% of the cars in the US are automatic. And I can drink coffee and talk on the phone while driving unlike you guys who have to constantly change gears. :70: Correct...north American tourists usually throw HUGE tantrums when they can't get an automatic to rent...

Stick shift cars r more economical- in terms of gas consumption as well as in terms of maintenance. Among most frequent problems, the most expensive one being ur stick shift losing its clutches. But for automatic cars, u r very likely to mess up ur transmission, in other words u r very likely to lose 1800 bucks.
Having said all dat, I wud still prefer automatic over stick shift anyday. Reason? well in busy streets of NY, the manual car starts hurting my left leg more often than not. too much hassle if u ask me.

We're not talking about the whole history behind Batman and how amazing the comic books (Oh I'm sorry, graphic novels) are. We're talking about the film and that has to be able to stand on it's own, if it needs to be propped up by having to do homework on the subject before you go into the cinema then the filmmakers have failed to do their job properly.

We're not talking about the whole history behind Batman and how amazing the comic books (Oh I'm sorry, graphic novels) are. We're talking about the film and that has to be able to stand on it's own, if it needs to be propped up by having to do homework on the subject before you go into the cinema then the filmmakers have failed to do their job properly.
batman has been around since the 40s.. its not easy to capture half a century of history in a 2 hour long picture.. thats why i said u have to wait till the sequel.. it just laid the foundation for the character.. now the second one would explore the character in detail. if they do half the job with the sequel as they did with the first one, its going to be a master-piece.

They don't have to capture 60 years of Batman history in one film though, they're starting telling his story from the beginning and as such there should be no need at all for anybody watching the film to have background knowledge of the character.

so you are fan of the original series which was nothing but a campy take on the character?? you have gotta be kidding.. u have to watch batman begins to understand what the character is..u dont know what ur missing.
Actually you misunderstood me....I am a bigger fan of the graphic novels than the movies themselves....The original batman wasn't a 'campy' take on the character....I agree with what was said previously, its very hard to capture the essence of batman through a 2 hour long picture......

you are saying the same thing as I am saying Big Mac.. People have this concept of Batman so clearly evident from Oxy's post .. Campy tv series and crappy movies from Joel schumacher RUINED the character. If people had read the books they would know thats not what batman is..
Now if you had seen the movie you would probably know what im talking about.. most people didnt go see it thinking bat costumes with nipples and ridiculous villains.. thats not the case.

the original batman did not capture the essence of the character as well as batman begins though.. in my opinion.. of couse according to the times, i guess that was the best job the director could do.

in fact "return of the dark knight" is pretty political. It portrayed US govt as a rogue super power that used Superman to conduct all its just and unjust global activities .. batman was labelled a rebel and ordered to be brought down.. That book won many awards.

The first half of Batman Begins was absolutely amaaaaaaaaaaazy and I was sitting there thinking "This is gonna be AWESOME" (It really was good enough to get the little Caps Lock in my brain stuck) but then it just degenerated into the usual generic summer blockbuster tripe

the tv serial batman and robin was ambiguously gay.. there were classic gay bondage undertones and people used to laugh their butts off at it..
its sort of like scooby doo show, where even though they never showed it, it was generally understood that shaggy and scooby were both stoner dudes, and Fred being the leader would always send them away together and vilma as well so he and Daphne would get some time alone for a quickie.. and Vilma always used to get annoyed at that because she was a closet lesbian who had strong feelings for Daphne.

Everyone acted well especially Ewan McGregor, the only one didn't was Hayden Christensen. ROTS is best movie in the new trilogy in my opinion and finnished the whole Star Wars saga very well. You have to be a Star Wars fan in order to like it.

How many Star Wars movies have you seen?
Lucas is a great director, there is no doubt about that. This movie was a big hit everywhere and I believe it broke a couple records too. Critics everywhere rated it quite highly as well.

ive seen them all and i liked the first trilogy as well
but the second trilogy was a rip off...i mean so many meaningless scenes...he could have fitted it all in one film but had to rip off fans worldwide by making three films
hes ruined the magical feeling star wars had about it

The first trilogy is undoubtedly better than the second one but I have to admit ROTS was way better than The Phanom Menace (worst Star Wars movie) and Attack of the Clones.
