Well I just came back from da Vinci Code.
I havent read the critics reports but it appears that they were right in whatever criticisms they had.
The start was very rushed - absolutely wizzed through it without any of the character development or their emotions. Then the middle came along and was very dull - I struggled to keep myself awake at parts. The bit after they went to Roselyn in Scotland had a few changes but I dont think it made it any better.
All in all, the book was far better (which was expected)
On the other hand, the X3 trailor really looked good and thats something I am looking forward too
Daoud, I was actually going to go last night and watch it myself but decided not to at the last moment.
From what I have heard though, it doesn't live up to expectations at all

Just got back from watching Davinci Code with my sister......I concur with Daoud's comments completely......The beginning was absolutely rushed, with few changes from the novel which made it even more frustrating to watch, the middle was a bore, and don't know why director felt he had to change aspect of some of the symbolism and the pace of the novel, and frankly the changes were more confusing then moving the story along......The ending with a few changes, didn't add anything to it......Overall, I thought the characters were underdeveloped due to the inital frustrating rapid pace, performances of character playing Sophie were wooden as well as Police Inspector......The only saving grace was Hanks pedantic acting and Sir Ian McKellan's humour....The book delivered a intricate mystery, complete with breataking escapes, breakneck pace, and stunning surprises.....The movie however was a colossal disappointment.......
My sister and I came to same conclusion - Give it 2.5 Digestable Parathas out of 5...

Yeah, McKellan's humour was really the only thing that made the movie somewhat redeemable. In the book a lot of the decisions they made had some degree of reasoning. Here it was like they were all pulling things out of their ****s

Excellant film....seen a good film after a long time. Good timing of the film especially in light of the currently hyped global state of fear.

Watched the Da Vinci code (twice) and i must say it lives up to the critics views. It was very boring in places and it had some unecessory changes made from the book. I like McKellan was good in Teabings role and Bettany did a good job of Silas but apart from that the acting was a bit lackluster. The ending was a bit of a bore. No real drama in it. All it was, was just Langdon telling Sophie the secret (not to ruin it for those who haven't read the book or seen it yet) and that was it. Overall it was ok but not an epic.
p.s did anybody notice that Silas' eyes were a light blue colour?

I want to watch a new film, 'Once in a Lifetime' - its a film documenting the New York Cosmos (the football team set up in the 1970s in the US Major Soccer League).
Heard good reviews - Its similar to 'When we were Kings' - based on the Ali v Foreman 'Rumble in the Jungle' Zaire 1974 which won an Oscar.

Once In A Lifetime Movie Review
I don’t know about you, but the United States of America is not normally a country I associate with the beautiful game. Growing up in the 70s, us kids were briefly crazy about the Harlem Globetrotters, who were a five minute wonder with their own animated tv show. But while we were falling for the charms of basketball, America was indulging in a love affair of its own, with the game they call soccer.
It all began with a man called Steve Ross, who ran Warner Communications. Ross was the Ted Turner and Rupert Murdoch of his day, a player who owned record companies and film studios and decided one day in 1971, as you do if you’re a millionaire, that he wanted to buy a soccer team. His eye fell on a team of amateurs called the New York Cosmos who were, frankly, pretty poor by any standards, but he bought them anyway. When they rather dismally failed to set the world on fire, Ross decided that he could buy in talent, and set his eyes on the best. In rapid succession he recruited Pele (a massive coup), the Italian striker Giorgio Canaglia, and German captain Franz Beckenbauer with the lure of lucrative contracts.
With their stars firmly in place, the Cosmos set out to conquer the world. They toured Europe and swiftly built a fanbase that included film stars, rock stars and politicians. Henry Kissinger was instrumental in helping Ross secure Pele’s services. Pele, as a living legend and ambassador for the game, was a key element of the Cosmos’ success, though he was past his prime. The film underlines Pele’s cultural importance when we see him mobbed at, of all things, a baseball game; he also seemed like a lot of fun. These star footballers really were the precursors of today’s stars, living the life of Riley (who was this lucky person, anyway?) hanging out with celebs, drinking and (probably) drugging and partying at Studio 54. Being with the Cosmos was enough to get you past the doorman at Manhattan’s finest clubs.
Other US teams sat up and took notice and other North American Soccer League franchises began to import talent including, briefly, George Best who played for the Los Angeles Aztecs, Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Rodney Marsh, who tells the story of how they sabotaged Pele and Canaglia’s game by having their flight met by a limo, some blondes, and a bottle or two of Chivas Regal (ah, the seventies. I expect they were all reading Wilbur Smith novels on the plane too). With the Cosmos playing to capacity stadium crowds, Ross knew it was time for the next phase – TV.
I wouldn’t have expected to enjoy a documentary about a 1970’s American soccer team but Once In A Lifetime proves once again that documentaries seem to have the best stories and this is a corker. The biggest ego of all probably belonged to Steve Ross, but as he’s no longer with us his shoes are ably filled by Canaglia. In the 1970’s Giorgio Canaglia was tall and gorgeous; the intervening years have not been kind, but the confidence that made him a sporting hero is still there; if anything he’s more cocky and belligerent than ever. Archive footage of his rivalry with Pele is priceless.
Not just a film for football fans, Once In A Lifetime deserves to do very well at the box office. Its worth the price of admission just to see the nude shots of goalie Shep Messing (the man has nothing to be ashamed of). And did you know the US beat England at football in the 1950 World Cup? Shocking!

Just came back from X-men 3. Definetely worth watching.
The movie had quite a few surprises, but I wont ruin it for anyone. Quite a few things happen that you wouldnt have expected. The movie could have been longer, but it worked well at its current length. The main characters that were introduced were Juggernaught and Beast. Both Vinnie Jones and Kelsey Grammer did a solid job with their character. I knew Jones was a great choice for Juggernaught but was a bit apprehensive about "Dr Crane" playing Beast, but that worked better than expected. There was a step up for Storm - Halle Berry said she wasnt going to reprise her role unless she becomes more powerful, like she is in the comics, and that certainly happened. She did get the stuffing knocked out of her by Callisto in one scene but was among the most dominant characters.
The two best performances were by Hugh Jackman, and as expected Ian McKellen. Wolverine had a far more proactive role in this movie, and seeing the "fastball special" move introduced with the help of Collosus was pretty enjoyable. For those that are unfamiliar, basically what happens is he gets picked up by Collosus and launched at the enemy - it worked very well against the Sentinal during the Danger Room training.
The final battle scene was quality. The Brotherhood vastly outnumbered the X-men who were forced to align with the military, and despite using plastic guns, their weapons were still rendered useless. The X-men looked to have been vastly overpowered in terms of mutant abilities as on one hand you had Magneto, Pyro and Juggernaught, all of who are capable of immense damage, and on the other you had Shadowcat, whos ability is to go intangible. But Kitty did have a pretty important role to play, and there was a pretty humourous exchange between her and Juggernaught. As expected though, it was down to Wolverine to save the day due to his regeneration ability.
Just a word of advice for those of you who go to watch it or download it or however you chose to see it. After the ending credits theres a very short exchange which involved one of the major characters. You may or may not find it worthwhile to see it, but thats just a heads up from me. As for the movie though, definetely one of the better ones I've seen this year

Just got back from X-Men 3, had some good bits but wasn't too impressed overall. There's been very little character development across the trilogy of films for people who are supposed t be quite important members of the team. So much time is spent pushing Wolverine into the limelight as the hero that they just ignored everybody else, they just make up some superfluous plotlines to pay lip service to some characters. That whole thing with Rogue, the kid with the ice powers and all that was pointless, Cyclops continues to be a waste of time etc.
Had some good ideas though, I didn't see a couple of the things coming.

I suppose that Iceman/Rogue/Shadowcat love triangle was pretty stupid, but its somewhat true to the comics (at least Ultimate X-men).
Collosus really should have a Russian accent but I suppose hes taken more seriously this way. Cyclops role wasnt too superfluous here though although he really was wasted. Other than that, the film wasnt bad.

I saw X-2 recently and thought it was really good. The scene with the night crawler at the start was brilliantly done. And overall it was a solid, enjoyable ride.
I wouldn't expect as much from X-3 simply because there's no Bryan Singer involved. The one man that might just make Superman work.
One of the few occassions where the sequel is better than the original.

I read that Singer plans to make an Ultimate X-men movie. Interesting to see if they will restart the franchise again so soon after this trilogy or they will continue this one.
Certainly in the Ultimate comic books, there is a lot of emphasis on Jean Gray, whos probably the most important character that that series. While in the movies, her character development was pretty low in the whole trilogy. There she did come across as one of the more likeable characters although the same cant be said in the movies. Cyclops though was even more of a dud, while there some explanation is given to why he is the way he is

whats the interest rate?
its linked to the rate of inflation (3.2% at the moment) so you more or less pay back what you borrowed
The repayments are 9% of what you earn above 15K - so say i i earn 16K, it is 9% of 1K that i pay back for the year - piece of cake :)

on mirc its the TMD team who release the DVD RIPS what happens is that they get RIPS on the normal size which is 700mb (atleast) compress them using their own set of softwares put tags on em and make em ready for download. usually they are a tad late compared to torrents because of all the hard work they have to do.
