Blood Diamond was really good. Leo has become the best actor of our generation.
Rocky Balboa was like any other rocky movie. It was decent. very slow in the beginning. watchable.
We Are Marshalls was very bad. Not worth watching.

Josh Hartnett seems to imitate Brad Pitt in the couple films I have seen him in.
Watch him 'lucky number slevin' and you will know what I mean.

Matt Damon is much much much better than Josh Hartnett. He has been veyr good in the bourne movies. Good Will hunting was excellent and he is the reason why Ben Affleck even had an acting career. I have liked Josh Hartnett in only Black Hawk Down, and even then his acting was second best to Eric Bana.

I saw it. The movie had a couple of good quotes. You can only get smarter by playing a smarter opponent. The greatest enemy will hide in the last place you look. Good on style and everything but the movie still doesn't make sense to me. Seems like the big boss guy everyone feered was in people's collective unconcious. All that Carl Jung stuff. I was expecting more action from Jason Statham. I like the other Guy Ritchie movies like Lock stock and 2 smoking barrels but this one was not the same.

I saw a couple of movies recently, I would recommend some of them.
The Prestige - The plot in this is one of the best plots I have seen. Tense and suspenseful throughout the movie. The two rivals were always at each others throat and pulled off some brilliant stuff to out do each other. extremely recommended.
Smokin Aces - A good plot and decent acting. A big cast. Basically a witness against the mob is about to testify and the FBI must get to him before 5-6 hitmen who have been given contracts to kill him get to him first. Its pretty cool as everyone is against each other and also trying to get the target.
Saw plenty more. Let me know if you guys want to know about a movie and I will review it.

Nah, its awesome. At first I thought how good can a movie about a magicians (Wolverine and Batman at that) be. But Bale has been excellent in every movie I've seen him and Caine is a legend and my mates had seen it and they said it was a top movie so my perception had changed. I had the EXACT same experience.
I saw Smokin Aces and it was a decent movie to watch. I thought it would be disappointing but it was good till the end. It wouldn't bore you, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.
I also saw Saw III I had seen the first 2 so thought might as well see this one too. It was good, if u liked the first one, it will live up to that same level. first one was great because it was so new, an unknown concept, but now its getting kind of old.
I also saw Children of Men after spectacular reviews from many people but I didn't think it was as exciting as people made it out to be. The premise was good but I didn't see anything amazing in the movie.

Saw Little Miss Sunshine. I have to say it was very refreshing to see this movie. The comedy is not very blatant. It is like those Checkov plays sort of. But I had lots and lots of fun while watching it. Basically a dysfunctional family takes a road trip to California in an old VW van and encounter many things while getting there. Don't watch this movie if you want to laugh, you will only smile at it, but it is truly refreshing.

And they're going to do the obligatory Hollywood 'remake any Korean/Hong Kong/insert any other East Asian nation here film that was any good' which WILL be rubbish but everybody will get all excited about and harp on about how amazing and original it is and all that will happen is I will just get a little bit angrier and inch a little bit closer to my eventual breakdown and UK-wide killing spree.

man it is one kick ass movie. nice action scenes, though the scenes of fornification (sex ) should have been ommited, and i dont think that has increased any value to the movie.
some battle scenes are really gruesome, so i suggest this movvie is not recommended for under 18 and elderly, and those who just can't see heads being cut off, and blood flying everywhere.

Apocalypse Now. Watched it last week; what a classic.
That movie is a 3 part movie I guess and each part gets more and more bizarre. I loved the first part with captain kilgore and the helicopter attacks etc. But when it got to the end, it was really really weird. This movie requires a very deep analysis. That sequence in the end with the cow sacrifice was pretty awesome direction.
pirates of the carribean: worlds end...mixed reviews..even more slated than spiderman 3...

Saw Pirates 3. Wasnt as good as the previous ones. The middle was too long and kept jumping all over the place but the end was alright. They really should have sped it up in the middle and try to make it follow a bit more sense.
Saw Spiderman 3 on a amazing quality DVD last night.
And I liked it.
I liked Spidy going over to the 'dark side' - a 'sadish' ending, but left with th impression that a Spiderman 4 may not be far off in the making!
For those that follow Spiderman - do the comics allow for another one

Sure. So many villans that havent been used - Lizardman, Mysterio, Shocker, Rhino. Plus I feel we havent seen the last of Venom if another movie is made. Gwen Stacy is still alive too - Venom in effect kills her in the comics

Saw 3rd installment of Pirates last Thursday and I felt it too long (but then I'd become aware I'd mislaid my travel pass holding some cards somewhere in the cinema complex); the first was the best.
Spidey 3: kiddy movie, wasn't that bothered with the second and not seen first.
My favourite movies this year so far have been Apocalypto and Blood Diamond.

All films I have watched in the last 7-8 years are 'kiddie' movies - thats what kids do to you.
I watched it alone last night to check for bits I need to 'fast-forward'...and now I 'm going to have to sit through it again in the next 15 mins or so....

Must admit Spidey3 was time-pass, hadn't intended to see it. I saw a download copy during Lord's England vs WIs 5th day rain affected play (popped to my brother's place a few mins from Lord's Grace Gates at 12.20pm when rain had stopped play at 11.35am). Because of the rain I saw the whole movie and returned to the ground when play began after 3pm! It's an acceptable time-pass movie.

I watch a lot of movies. Well latest releases in South Africa. In the last 2 weekends seen :
Fracture : Worth a see if you like Anthony Hopkins. Good drama.
Hot Fuzz : British comedy, not really my scene.
Freedom Writers : I enjoyed this one, dealing with ethnics in a USA school. Borders on gangs/racialism and how they dealt with it.
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End : Too long for me. But still worth a watch if you have seen the others.

I just watched Pirates 3... went in with low expectations and came out feeling okay about it...
drags in places as JustAnotherFan said if you like the first two, you will like the third..but not as much as the first 2..
didnt like the bit with Daveys Jones Locker ..thought the place will be more colourful..
also ending points to a fourth sequel.... which Depp has said he will do if it is made...
by the way did anyone wait til the end of the credits?..apparently there was a extra scene... i was in the mood to wait around but not my mates! who wanted to hit the chicken shop for a quick burger!
I watched Apocolypto last night. Thoroughly enjoyed it, superb stuff from Mel Gibson.
wow .. stark contrast from my experience - IMO it was just extreme violence with no substance.
also i get the feeling that gibson is trying to demean non-christian civilizations.. he showed these natives in the most grotesque light as possible.

I didn't find it a debasement of a culture. Humanity has been inhumane throughout history, non-Christian or Christian. The movie was a wondrous roller coaster ride, fantastic photography and depiction of absolute courage on the part of the male protagonist and his wife. Their young son was so cute and brave. I loved the movie.
I see where you are coming from however; 300 was great cinema but to show the Greeks's treatment of women as equal was laughable since it is their own Aristotle who claimed "women have no souls" - and didn't they bequeath pederasty (read Pheadrus) to the world - joke! :) Plenty of anti-Iran propoganda in 300 .

It was based on a true story but the comic book adaptation of it. The way I see it, the story was recalled through the words of that Spartan soldier who survived. Obviously he would exaggerate what had happened, hence the giant monsters, trolls, etc

Decent movie. I probably would have liked it better if I had watched it in 1975.
I watched it for Pacino and I gotta say that he doesn't dissapoint. Maybe I was just getting emotional but there were a few scene's where I literally clapped for him.

Trueman Show a good movie - Jim Carrey's best probably. He is better in serious or dramatic ones. There is Eternal Sunshine of Spotless mind. His best comedy people can debate was "dumb and dumber" or "Pet Ventura: Pet detective". He made the Pet Dectective (and I don't mean created it but his presence made the first one popular and maybe him other than TV's In Living Color) and Dumb and dumber was maybe funnier
