IMO that is what we lack as an opener.
A bowler has to be in a constant state of confusion in terms of what line length he has to bowl each delivery. When a bowler is bowling to Sehwag, or when it was Gilchrist their minds were constantly thinking and in doubt as to where they should bowl the next ball because they knew Sehwag and Gilly would have blasted them otherwise.
What we have in our batsmen is the slow accumulation of runs where the bowler knows the batsmen won't be adventurous hence there is zero, ZERO pressure on the opponents.
I don't know if its only me but..

You don't need any more pinch hitters man, just get proper batsmen

I think that's insulting to Sehwag and Gilly!
They aren't "pinch hitters"! :))
At this point in time, I just want an opener that can score runs consistently. They don't have to necessarily be aggressive.

Shows how much OP knows about cricket if he thinks Adam Gilchrist was a pinch hitter.

Maybe not pinch hitters, but we do need people who can take it to the opposition in the first couple of overs. Shehzad seemed to be developing nicely for that role until nerves hit him in the WC. Nazir and Shahzaib are two other options. Hafeez seems to be playing pretty fluently as well... that is until he gets into the 40's and starts pushing and prodding nervously or playing stupid shots (WC SF)

the problem is that when gilchrist and sehwag get out no one is worried you got 6-7 world beaters up next.
when nazir and shazaib will get out 12(8), 6(2) to follow is kamran and tuk tuk ul haq

great idea, but where do we get a Sehwag or a Gilchrist........we've already tried aggressive openers, dating all the way back to when afridi was opening, nazir, shahzaib hassan, and currently kamran akmal, we just dont have anyone good enough

Shahzaib wasn't given a consisitent run like nazir or anyone else. Give him a proper chance then give your verdict. Before that? It's harsh and unfair.

It was in T20s. Where everything is up for slogging. Hit and Miss. The Op is talking about ODIs.
In the 1st two ODIs Hafeez and Asad opened the innings.
In the 2nd two ODIs Hafeez and Farhat opened the innings.
In the last ODI Hafeez and Shahzaib opened the innings.
The interesting part is, In the 5 ODIs match series, the opening succeeded only in the last ODI. Before, there was not even a 50 runs partnership.
Shahzaib played well in the only ODI given to him. Unfairly dropped again.

It's time Razzaq is sent up the order to pinch hit.

I think fireworks is right, Razzak should be given a go on top of the other for a few games. There is no harm in trying.

He may not be given the chance. It seems he has been dropped.

I misread the title as 'Pinch Hitler'
There is one option and that is to send Razzaq up the order.

First of all, I think what you mean is more of a "dasher" or an aggressive batsman. A pinch hitter is someone like Afridi.
For that role, we do have Shehzad.

Also, @ everyone. No need to make fun of OP so much. So what? The guy got one cricketing terminology wrong?
You don't need to bash him like that.

Be calm. Nothing personal against you, was rather laughing at the term that you used for someone like Adam Gilchrist.
What´s ICF:20:?
