Given that Mohammad Hafeez looks set to continue as one of the opening batsmen in the one day series against the West Indies.
Kamran Akmal of course has been dropped for the tour of the Caribbean and that leaves Pakistan with a quandary regarding who should open with Hafeez.
Will the Pakistan think tank go back to Ahmed Shehzad?
Taufeeq Umar perhaps?
Will Afridi take on the challenge?
Perhaps they'll push Asad Shafiq up the order?
Maybe even Usman Salahuddin?
Who would be your choice?

Misbah ul haq.
You may laugh but this is a genius idea- misbah could build a foundation and others can play around him.
Ahmed Shehzad, definitely.
Afridi going up the order could be a shrewd idea though.

Ahmed Shehzad, he is our future opening batsman therefore should persist with him despite his World Cup Flop

Misbah will build a foundation and the others will be under that foundation. Basically, he'll bury them all. :moyo

Give Usman a go at top of the order. The guy should be given a chance to bat the whole 50 overs and see what he can do, he can build a innings or not.

Ahmed Shehzad should be given a run.
Ok he had an awful World Cup but lets not forget he scored a hundred in New Zealand a rarety amongst Pakistani batsmen let alone an opener.
There is some talent there but needs to be groomed this is where the need for good batting coaches comes in not just at international level but at domestic level.
No point sending Shafique up if he is playing well at No.3 as he is there is no need to bring change which may unsettle him.
The Misbah idea could work in T20s. We see with the likes of Kallis, Dravid who open the innings and look to play 20 overs do well.

Shehzad will open for deffo. The thing is with him though is that he does well on fast tracks like NZ series or that 77 he got against aus. Whereas on flat, low tracks he's not so good. A rare breed indeed. ;)

Taufeeq Umar as he already bats with Hafeez in Tests so they already have an understanding.
Ahmed Shehzad lacks discipline,he has all the shots in the book but often gets dismissed by playing one shot too many.He needs to go back to domestic cricket and work on his temperament or listen to his seniors for advice.

When did Ahmed Shehzad get 77 vs Australia ? Do you mean Khurram Manzoor ?
