Pakistan 272 & 131/1

West Indies 223

Pakistan lead by 180 runs with 9 wickets remaining

----------------------------------

Pakistan should look to be atleast 265-70 runs ahead by close of play today!

Need to step on the gas and score at least 100 runs in the final session.

Thank you for the thread AJ.

Need to get minimum of 250 lead atleast by end of play today!

Just need to take the 1s and 2s and not let the boundaries dry up either.

Keep a good pace of the innings.

Taufeeq should now look at getting to his century and Azhar his 50!

I reckon Azhar needs to add a few more shots to his repertoire, especially against the spinners. Its good to see that hes developed this paddle scoop to release the presure, but he really needs to work on cutting the ball against the spinners, and needs to get to the pitch of the ball more often. He stays on the backfoot way too much against spinners , and until he sorts his technical issues against spin out hes not going to get a great number of centuries

Pak_Jazba

This is what happens when people keep asking to increase the RR.

All Pakistan need to do is bat till after lunch tomorrow, get a lead of 350 (for which we are going fine) and put WINDIES in just 10 overs or so before tea.

People want t20 cricket even in tests.

This is Pakistan don't be expecting too much. Remember the next batsman after this is Misbah who you can never rely on to milk the runs!

Umar Akmal can contribute but after that Salman has not doen a great deal and then its our superb tail who can get us up to a huge lead.

So for now 250 is a must by end of play today.

Tomorrow should look to really pace the innings.

We need to be in a position to win the game and not let West Indies draw! Which is why need to give them as much overs to bat out as possible otherwise they will draw which is enough for them to take the series 1-0

Instead of getting up the rankings we're gonna go down them at this rate!

Test cricket was always our best form of cricket when we attacked.

Oh gone are the days when we could easily rack up 500-600 against any oppositions!

This defensive mentality is going to be very very damaging to Pakistan.

Will be very difficult to come out of too.

scoring slow is a huge reason why we can't score even 250-300 consistently these days because our batsmen get frustrated when their plan A doesn't work and than they are left scratching their heads, clueless...usually, once your batsmen have settled, they look to consolidate the scoring rate so that the game can advance...

like right now, Taufeeq should be scoring more than blocking but he's just gone into a shell...

Yousuf seems to be back in top form. He is scoring healthy scores consistently against Warwickshire.

Got his eye in when after 50 deliveries?

This is not the last day of the match but with 2 days to go and with just a lead of 219. With the start Pakistan got and then went dead after that.

We need to build a good big lead and give West Indies alot of time to bat so we could get 10 wickets and NOT put them in to bat where the only thing looking likely is a draw.

I am looking at the bigger picture here of a win and not a loss or a draw!

What has me wishing him out got to do with him him actually getting out. I made that comment after he got out. Him getting out was the best thing right now because we need to up the pace and not get bogged down.

He was denying singles and putting pressure on Taufeeq who is the man in form right now in his 70s!

Yar, We still have plenty of time to force the result. We would have a lead of 245 at the end of the day. And then we can bat for 50-55 overs tomorrow and can take lead past the 400 mark(See, even maintaining a rate of 3 would take us to the 400). This will give our bowlers 135-140 overs to bowl Windies out and I think thats more than enough.

Asad was settling in, could have easily paced his innings and I dont know how it was in our best interest that he got out. Because we all know Misbah will bat at no. 5 and we know how good Misbah is when it comes to roatating the strike. So, Asad in, current scenario, would have been more handy than Misbah.

400 is a long way away. At this rate we'll be lucky to get a lead of 300+

West Indies only need to draw and they have players who can bat out the overs which is why we need to set a commanding lead for them to chase and leave enough time for our bowlers to bowl them out and keep the draw way out of reach for West Indies.

You didnt read the post properly, I said that even if we go at 3 rpo from now on, we would end up getting a lead of 400 with 40 or so overs remaining in 4th days play. And I havent taken into account the impact Umar will create. So, no need to panic, barring a collapse, we would be well placed at the half way mark on 4th day.

And Which Windies players have got the temperament to bat out 130+ overs. Sarwan doesnt look like getting a fifty and Nash has been clueless against off spin. The rest are crap really(Bravo is very talented BUT he too has a suspected temperament, Samuels too threw it away in the 1st inngs). Is it wrong for me to just want to see my team perform like any others out there.

Look at England Lions Vs Sri Lankans that was a 4 day match and still produced a result.

Eng Lions scored 493-8 (dec) in 109 overs and Sri Lankans 266 ao 63.4 overs.

Then Sri Lanks followed on 448 ao 104 overs needing Eng Lions 222 to win and they were 183 ao in 47.3 overs.
