Yeah, that's how it is. Just going through this page and there are some words/line that would be unknown to most Punjabis...whereas you guys would understand every word of Punjabi.

Haha, well... I liked it for the first few days over here :D Had to do a bit of cleaning though cus our house was very dusty and stuff :|
I'm staying in F1 cus we have our own house over here. Have been to dadyal and bun hurma (don't know how to spell it lol).
It's realllyyy hot right now! And the other day, the bijli was gone for 12 hours! Can you imagine my state? I'm dying to come back to England!! I saw the stadium cus I was going to the chowk to do some shopping and there were loads of people playing cricket outside. Honestly speaking, it doesn't look very nice on the outside but who knows what's it's like on the inside. :yk
Haven't been to mega mart yet... but will do in the next few days. Today is the first roza and I don't know how I'm surviving... only 2 hours to go!
Don't know how much it's changed because I don't even remember the places the last time I visited :P

I'm a hard core fan of that place and even I wouldn't go there at this time of year. That's why I'm planning on going mid to end of october, perfect weather!

Dadyal has more British Nationals per square inch than any other town, other than Britain itself of course! Used to go there a fair bit for business purposes. Ban Khurmaan aka Khurmaan Ni Bannee now known as Mian Mohammed Town is essentially an extension of Mirpur itself now. I used to go there to read Taravee, the maulvi in the mosque used to be lightening quick and used to wrap proceddings in under an hour! Ban Khurmaan is renowned for the "Local Talent" (read Maraasi, Dholi, Khwaja Sara etc) .

The Stadium has a whole commercial thing going on the outside so it's riddled with billboards and shop fronts and whatnot. Back in my days it never used to be like that. It was all clean, or shall I say empty, the inside used to be a tad run down when i used to play as the place was under construction. I have seen pictures of the inside now and it looks quite nice actually.

If you go clothes shopping, you might end up going to Shareefey Ni Huttee, they are actually my relatives, don't know how but they are!

You havent got long to go to open your roza now I guess, pukh laggee vi hosi hoon te, te naaley treh vi! Kudos for staying strong though, I can imagine how hard it must be out there.

I know Aftab Park, of course I know Aftab Park. Remember the Night Double Wicket Tournament jis vich mein baunh paisey haraam kittey sann? well Aftab Park is where I organised it! It had about 80 teams and went on for about a month!! Balls used to get lost on a regular basis, atleast 5 a day and they cost Rs 40 each, good balls they were, Wilson ones. Then the lights, they used to blow every night ... absolute nightmare! Loads of fun though. Every day, after the matches, me and my friends used to drive down to Akaalgarh, to drink tea!! And Nafees Bakery is the largest bakers/resaurant/sweets shop/fast food joint/marriage hall in Mirpur. Infact I think they are one of the largest suppliers in the UK. I'm sure you've had KCB Bombay Mix or Bakarkhaaniyan or Cake Rusk in the UK, have you? Well KCB is owned by them too, the Saleem family. Their son is a good friend of mine. The Bakery itself is on the Mian Mohammed Road, the road which goes down from the Stadium, on the right hand side. When you go out, make sure you get your mum to take you there too. I hear they have done it up and it is quite nice.

The funny thing used to be, sometimes when the rickshaw would be over loaded, it wouldn't go up the road from the Chowk and the driver used to say "Payee jee, ithey hi layee jao" . Just imagine a bus driver here chucking you off because it won't go up the hill with you on! LOL Amazing machines though and you're right, they are loud! Love the way they decorate them though and all the cheesy poetry inside them.

Ah man, Malik Juice Centre was simply superb, the Mango Juice was unbeatable - last time I was in Pak (2006) went there a few times (from Chakswari so did not get to go to Mirpur that often)

I only went to Nafees Restaurant once, that was in 2000, I thought it was okay, nothing special to be honest. When it comes to food nothing beats the Cholay Chaaval from Chakswari

I spent many a happy afternoon at the Dam! Love the place, but it depends where you go really. I used to go to Sukhiyan Check Post But I'm not sure you're allowed to go there anymore and Jaree Kass Park is now under water. Be careful though, theres a lot of water in that pond!

Of course I know Chechiyan Darbar. Been there loads of times. It used to be a lot different from what it is now. Pehley barraa sakoon achna si, uthey shaamein ja ke beh jao Listen to the malangs, the whole atmosphere was very surreal but calming in a way. It was like a world unto itself. Now it's changed since they did the renovations. Be careful what you do there OK? Assaan niyaan zanaaniyaan baunh puth karniyan. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. :moyo

The game went fine thanks. I was actually promoted up the order for some bizarre reason! Smacked a quick fire 22 and holed out. It was a 20-20 anyway. Never had a pizza from Megabite. Wasn't around in my time. Back then all we had was pizzas from Nafees or Pakeeza which basically rotiyaan appar tamaatar te botiyaan laggiyaan, honest! Fast food standards were seriously lacking in those dys, except for a few select places. How was it? val si?

True GA, Malik Juice was untouchable! But I have heard that standards have slipped a fair bit recently. There is another place across the road from it who make a killer Mango Malai Milkshake apparently. But heck, Malik Juice will always be number one for me. The guys that work there are top!

Back in the days, I used to go to Maliks atleast once a day. My routine used to be to go in, shake hands with the guy and sit on a chair right next to the counter. Without even asking, Ghulam Nabi, use to pull out a Gold Leaf, spark me up and ask "Ajj keh peeso?". The special thing was, he knew when and when not to offer me a fag i.e. when I was with a guest, you know what it's like with us desis Praava ... innit? Anyway, I came to England, went back after about 3 years. Went down to Malik Juice, met the guy and sat on the same chair and what does he do? He pulls out a Gold Leaf, sparks me up and says "Ajj keh peeso?" . That gesture nearly brought a tear to my eye ....

Used to go to Chakswari to drink tea at 2am ... crazy.

Edit: I have since stopped smoking and would advise anyone who smokes or is thinking of taking it up ... Don't do it!!!

Mirza Faisal us din toon baad har vailey short circuit rehna si I mean seriously, he used to move his head like ... Kukriyaan takkiyan ne? just like that. Sudden jerky movements. Basically he blew all his fuses when he got electrocuted. Now this Mughal guy, he turned into some sort of genius! No word of a lie! He started inventing weird things. One day he took me and my friends to his basement where he showed us this massive weird looking machine with big massive wheels and pistons and goodness knows what, like you see in movies. He claimed it was a Perpetual Engine, an engine that keeps on running all on its own without any or minimal fuel. And sure enough, he turned it on and it came to life and a flimsy little light bulb hanging from a dandaa turned on. He told us to have a look around to find some sort of power source or fuel but we couldn't! I thought it was absolutely amazing. Gaaan marree gayee si vichaaree ...

Oh wow, my mum is also from Jhelum. In terms of villiage farm houses, my mum's side, house (Nani etc) is from a villiage near Dina (whenever they go to do a 'big' shop (clothes, food etc) we went Dina)...its called 'Dabla/Dabal', sound familiar?
