At the end of last week, Cricket Australia released the findings of the Argus review, which was commissioned by the Cricket Australia board to attempt to get to the bottom of our fall from No.1 in Test cricket to No.5.

These findings were revealed to us the day before our fourth ODI by Michael Brown from Cricket Australia.

Cricket is a performance-based game and unfortunately when we as individuals or collectively aren't performing exactly how we want, things will definitely change.

I sincerely believe that all of the recommendations from the Argus review will significantly enhance our development and improvement over the next few years to give ourselves the best opportunity to get back on top of the world rankings.

It has been a challenging time for us as a group over the last few days because of the findings being revealed but Michael Clarke has continued to lead the team brilliantly and ensure that it didn't prove a distraction to the job at hand, winning the one-day series.

not sure how well you can time the ball with a booklet rather than a bat :bumble

It's harder to bounce back when you are near bottom. Look at WI.... They couldn't revive it when they had lara.... Uphill task.

Watto is vice captain now so he is learning the management speak required.

Getting some good practice here.

What will return us to our rightful place at number 1 is having good players and many of them.

Yeah from the looks of it you do need a fair few players for tests at least.

I wouldn't write off the Aussies though, you guys have the best domestic cricket structure in the world.

Don Argus is a retired businessman. He was commissioned by Cricket Australia to review all aspects of on field performance in conjuction with a panel of Steve Waugh, Mark Taylor and Allan Border. The report was released recently.

There is a seperate review in to the structure of CA itself and governance due out later this year.

In summary the argus report says:

We are rubbish at most skills of the game

Get rid of Tim Nielsen

Get rid of Andrew Hilditch

Make Greg Chappel not a selector

Captain to be part of tour selection panel

Team better start winning or else :batman:

It will help fix what has been a pretty obvious collapse in our off field efforts.

Tim Neilsen being recontracted twice after losing Ashes series.

Andrew Hilditch being a selector. He actually called the touring party to drop a player in favour of another in the SL t20 series just gone. The reason was the incoming player was a better bet against Malinga.

Hilditch didn't bother to check if Malinga was playing (he wasn't.)

So selection and coaching should improve (from a low level) but good players are what make good teams. We need better players to get anywhere on the field.

Australia do have good talent, but they declined lot recently.

Shane Watson is the only player who performers regularly.

Yeah it's that 25-32 age bracket that is lacking, those are the guys who should be in their prime. Only Watson, Clarke and MJ really.

We have talent under 25 but it is raw.

this is what we call 'Vision' unlike our board PCB which has no clue what direction our cricket should be lead towards!

a board run by true professionals would certainly have these abilities to assess the progress of a team, and CA has proven it yet again...I am sure they'll become a powerhouse of a team in the next 1-2 years again because they are backed by a solid system spearheaded by people who actually 'care'
