Ch. Nisar’s wife, children are US nationals: WikiLeaks

Updated at: 1552 PST, Sunday, September 11, 2011
KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s leader of the opposition in National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan assured the US in 2008 that he and his party were pro-American, according to a US embassy cable released by WikiLeaks.

“Saying that his wife and children are in fact Americans, Nisar did admit that he went to the US Embassy in London to renew his daughter’s passport because he wanted to avoid being seen at the US Embassy in Islamabad.”

More telling, however, is Khan’s stance on US military action within Pakistan, and how the PML-N would act to remain “publicly credible”.

Nisar reportedly avoided saying that the PML-N opposed either air attacks or US ground action, contrary to its reaction over the May 2011 raid in Abbottabad by a US Navy SEALs team which killed al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

“What he did say was that the PML-N would have to criticise the Government of Pakistan for allowing US action. Otherwise, said Nisar, the party would have no credibility with the people.”

Nisar said that US policy needed to be more transparent as “confusion bred unhelpful conspiracy theories”. He also told US diplomats that former president Pervez Musharraf was seen as too pro-US and so was “tainted in Pakistani eyes”.

The release of the US embassy and consulate cables in Pakistan has also highlighted how various politicians have lobbied American diplomats for support. From Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of his own faction of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) to former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to the late former Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto, every major politician in Pakistan has looked to the diplomats for help.

because thread is about one particular individual mentioned in the title of this thread. If you cant defend him then better not bring others into this and if you want to start about Farooq Sattar, create another thread for him. It'd be better that way.

Strong grammar.

I'm just wondering how many replies this thread would've got if it involved another party. But hey, nobody on PP has any bias.

Two-faced politicians :)) Ch. Nisar is from our constituency and he has done nowt all these years.
This leak is just another reason why I now dislike him and the PML (N) so much. The phrase "Bhaghal main chhuri moon main ram ram" comes to mind except that the effect is somewhat reversed in this case.

PML(N) should be banned because it is portraying to the public frm long time as a right wing party which tends to oppose everything American but in reality they are bunch of hypocrites. They not only blowing Americans u know what but also allowing all sorts of military attack by foreigners in Pakistan.

TBH I dont know why his wife & children being US citizens is considered a bad thing. My whole family is Canadian citizen. If I go back to Pakistan and would like to help Pakistanis in some way (being PM for example), why would somebody complain about my family being Canadian citizens? Judge me based on what I am doing not where my family members lives.

Welcome back Momo.

No one cares about where his family is from but everyone cares about his hypocrisy of telling americans how much he loves them in private and then goes anti-amereeka when addressing public.

Those, who dont have a stake in the country, dont have anything to lose if something happens to pakistan. Why would they care about the law and order situation, when they know their family is safe in another country.

A pakistani, who holds a foreign passport, and doent think the country is fit enough to have his family stay in pakistan, should not be allowed to hold any political office

I have no problem with his wife having a different nationality. What I do want from him is a bit consistency and not one thing for americans and another for pakistani public.

While it's difficult for me to agree to this sentiment, to its credit the Q leadership (if one can call it that) is at least not collectively obsessed with "looking good" and ugly wigs.

They are also hypocrites but the N guys are in a league of their own (with the notable exception of Hashmi sahab).

Zardari, Nawaz and Altaf all should be hanged. But you just want to target other parties.

Now go back to listening Altaf bhai singing.
