He has a brilliant average against most teams of the world but can he hack it against Pak ? Will the pressure get to him - is he likely to be an easy wicket for Pak ? In that way, Ganguly could well do better than Dravid as he is no longer Captain!

Pak V Ind are very special encounters - the Captain who keep his nerves will win come out on top.

We know Inzi is pretty cool and has experience as captain against India - will Dravid match him in the ice cool stakes ?

Playa: Dravid is Mr. Cool - do you think he will be able to take the pressure as a captain and maintain his batting form ? Unlike the last few occasions, this time he is Captain for the series and not deputizing for Ganguly.

Inzi can handle the pressure created by Biriyani & Murg Mussalam better than Dravid.

Bade bade fail ho gaye with such pressure.

Ka...boom!

Am a big fan of Dravid - especially when coaching youngsters.

However I think, or is that hope, that the pressure of leading a suspect looking batting line - up in a series against Pakistan could be too much so early in his captaincy career. With Laxman, Ganguly and Gambhir in the top 6, Tendulkar looking past his best, Sehwag out of of form, the batting will rely more heavily than usual on his batting. This pressure together with leading the side could have a negative effect on his all round game.

However Dravid is very tough - both mentally and technically. If one Indian is going to raise his own game like Inzaman and Imran with greater responsibility it will be Dravid.

But Ganguly and Gambhir won't be in the top six. It will be Yuvraj singh and Wasim Jaffer instead.

Dravid is the one that worries me the most, the guy is almost robotic - we are gonna need to do something special to keep him quiet!

Not sure, Captaining India wont effect his batting, Dravid has been captaining for India in the Sri Lanka and South Africa odi series, he was in fantastic form in both series, and made good tactics and clever bowling changes, this series will challange him.

Dravid

94 games @ avg 57.16
7 games @ avg 22.45 (as captain)

Inzi

105 games @ avg 51.61
17 games @ avg 62.92 (as captain)

I hope Dravids form with the bat as captain continues :D

I really dont see whats so special about Dravid?.. You guys giving him way too much credit he is a Minnow Basher in my eyes.. I mean come on the guy averages 14 when Mcgrath and Warne are on the field together, he hasnt done too much when a younger Donald and devilluers were around either.. Sorry you have to show me that you can consistently score against the best before you can be one of the best plain and simple....

In conclusion, Dravid is a minnow basher. :20: :)))

He averages even more than his career average, 57 when he is playing away from home. When he's playing away from home he averages 60 odd.

In addition he has saved matches for India in Port Elizabeth, Georgetown and Trent Bridge, winning them Tests at Headlingley, Adelaide, Kandy and Rawalpindi. :30:

Also he has the highest average among number 3 batsmen excluding Sir Don.

Also I think he has one of the top ten averages among players in test matches, who have played over 50 of them. :21:

So basically, Romalli Rotti, you either have to be really stupid or extremely ignorant to ignore these stats and say he's a minnow basher. :12:

Will get to Inzi later.... :D

The only thing bad on his record is the average of 14 when McGrath and Warne have been on the field but then again 3 of his tests against them were in the early part of his career and he only scored 93 runs that series. Also another thing we can be critical about is that in the first two matches of the Indo-Pak series of 2004, when he was captain he did not score runs. The last match the burden of captaincy was taken away from him and what did he do? He pummeled us for 270 runs in 10 hours.

Romalli Rotti has a point but to call him a minnow basher is ludicrous.
