Indians 414/7 (103.0 ov)

414/7 declared...but yuvraj and Laxman retired? so shouldnt it be 414/5??

ataullah

Good match practice for indians. we'll see how flat the pitch is when Pak bat now

PapaBear
8th January 2006, 06:17
well technically they arent 7 down because against both yuvraj and vvs it says retired hurt. basically both made there half centuries and came out to give everyone a chance to bat. But now i think India should declare cause we need to test Indian bowling. I think Pak A batting line up is pretty good.

They have declared Indians 414/7d (104.0 ov) Lunch time. I think Indians Bowling is weak! It will sho today.

My only concern is with all 5 bowlers are in run for those spots in playing xi and they dont over do it. Zaheer is known to get to over pumped up. RP is a new n when he does get his chance he should impress a few. Agarkar , u never know what to expect from him.

I think doing well in this match is more important for fringe players like Farhat - Raza has now picked up a bad rep based on his previous performance - and unless he can score a double hundred - dont see this making too much difference in the overall scheme of things...

Same applies to Gul ...

The other players will provide practice to the visitors and their team mates [End of downbeat comments]

is this a one day game or something. Both scoring at a great pace against the great indian lineup :O . over 5 runs an over being scored :11: . Proves this is lifeless pitch. No wonder our bowlers struggled. I love the way Inzi bob are using tactics, taking full advatage of the home. We are led to believe fast tracks will be produced for test series but this dead, just how they bamboozled the English. Clever thinking. :27:

You are right miggy, but I feel Imran Farhat will make the squad now, as he has been in profilic form. He has done i domestically and now against the Indians. But Farhat is really claiming that spot now.

Nice dilemma for the management.

MIG

and I am glad for Imran - just hope he doesnt use this inning to unlearn any lessons he has learnt from his days in the wilderness....We need a good steady opening stand - not a ODI style inning - that will come later. He needs to support Salman and take pressure off him - thats his role.

Lets see how this progresses, Malik should feel the heat now - thats for sure

I think evenly balanced game - more likely to be a draw - if the remaining A wickets can hold out for something like 350+..

I think its crucial for someone like Asim to hold the innings together, like he normally does - and show the selectors that he is all set.

If nothing else, Farhat, Asim and Umer Guls performances are what Pak need at the moment. The rest is eye candy !

When did I say ODI's are like Tests?

I just said Malik has a good ODI record against the Indians. He might fancy their bowlers. I know you are against Malik as an opener in tests. In my opinion he is capable of doing just fine as an opener. The reason for this is not his technique, but his temperament. I have no qualms if the management gives him another shot at that spot. But having said that, I also feel Farhat has done everything to get a recall and even take Maliks spot.

We will have to wait and see what Bob and Inzi feel, huh?

I just woke up and all I have to say "WHAT??!?!?!? WHO IS TALKING NOW?"

Both my prospects Farhat and Raza performed. I am not saying they should be in the starting 11, but considering both are good fielders, they should be in the squad and both can act as 12th man.

I think Raza did not do enough to get called back, but Farhat surely did. His second ton against India in 2 years and the fact that they were considering of opening with Hameed suggests they were looking for a specialist opener.

Firing Farhat cannot be denied much longer of his selection.

i think asim's blown his chance for a while. He will be below afridi, raza and malik(if farhat opens) in the pecking order for a middle order berth.

Its a cruel game innit ? Asim waits for his chance and then its gone - knives are out and suddenly he is the odd man out!

I dont think its like that miggy, Asim's chances of being in playing xi were low due to Afridi being there. And i am pretty sure he will be picked in the squad ahead of Raza. Now lets say if Farhat is picked then they wouldnt be able to pick kamal in the squad because Malik is there to not only back up the opner but also the number 6 spot.

You know...we may all have forgotten about Faisal Iqbal (great player), he may get called up instead of Farhat if he performs, (he's at 38 runs)...but then they may have to send Afridi into open and Iqbal middle order, which is unlikely

Its highly unlikely yaar since there are no glaring vacancies in the middle order where he bats. Afridi/Razzaq and Kamal are fighting for one spot although i believe Afridi wil be the one getting that coveted no6 spot.

The vacancies are at the top and to be honest i dont even see Farhat taking Malik's place for this upcoming series. If that were to happen then all the crap about giving openers a decent run would be straight out the window.

Yes, but even Malik seems temporary, Hameed will probably take the spot back for the second test....we really should start getting a concrete team, enough of this guessing BS...Why do you think the Aussie batting line up is so strong, because they've been playing with each other for a while now, and we have a different line up every two matches!

Welcome to PP !

You join the illustrious company of such legendary supporters as RR, Afzaal, Playa and a few who are too scared to come out ( GasherB is suspected of being one - lynching will follow when he outs himself !!)

Anyway - have a great time and above all, enjoy cricket and all the best to India as well !

Faisal Iqbal out for 87! Good knock if I can say so....

Cant he be tried as an opener? He did open against Zimbabwe and scored a century (IIRC).

Gul and Arafat batting now. Definitely a draw and I am pleased that the Indian bowlers havent been allowed to get into good rhythm.

Good to see Pak A give the Indian bowlers a tough ride, but I am not going to read too much into it as the tests is a different ball game altogether. Well done to Imran Farhat, Faisal Iqbal and Hasan Raza for scoring well.

Thats life mig. He is not the man in possession and has to take any opportunity he gets to impress. He has failed to do so until now. This being another case.

There are other batsmen who have scored runs in the same game against the same bowlers. They have been scoring runs consistently and grabbing most opportunities coming their way so they will be ahead in the pecking order.

Inshallah Farhat will not allow the part timer Yasir to get another chance, Farhat has been selcted and inshallah he will stay and make 10000 runs for pakstan over the next 10 years. Stop looking for openers.
