View Full Version : What Causes the Biggest Arguments in Your House?

The tv - arguments over the remote control ?
The car - I want it tonight, no I do !
Cooking - You cook tonight, no you do it !
In our house it has to be DIY. We bought quite a bit of stuff from Ikea over Xmas and the New Year. Over the last few days I've been assembling it (or shall I say trying to assemble it :D ), boy have my attempts at assembling the bedroom furniture caused some heated debate in our house !

With the kids:-
-Over the P.C/Internet
-TV Remote - cant afford that Sky Multiroom/Plus thing
-Sweets. They eat too many; and I have to face the shame at the dentist!
With the wife:-
-She wants to goto Pakistan...as soon as she gets back!!!

TV used to be the biggest argument causing topic before. But now its firmly under my control and Im more tactful in how to exercise my authority over the remote too.

My mum is generally very accomodating with TV so nothing happens there (either way neither of us watch THAT much TV). My dad either watched cricket or news or ocassionally Pakistani soaps. Of which Im usually watching one of them.
I dont think me and my brother have ever gotten into an arguement over what to watch.
No matter how much I get the urge, I'll never tell my nani to bugger off when shes watching "Kabi Saas bhe kabi bahoo thee" for the 3rd time, so no arguements there
That leaves my sister :16:
Same applies with the computer but I guess we're pretty civil now

With my hubs over the internet and sleep timings.
My parents home: My dad lets my baby sis go out only if I am going, but I usually dont feel like going on a shopping spree every other day to check out new hand bags, jewellery, shoes, fast food outlet. This results in my sis raging that shes unfairly treated and that I am an old fashioned bore who knows nothing of "enjoyment'.
Arguements with my dad are him lamenting about how I'm wasting my life by not doing a job and not helping him in his business with me giving reasons for not working which dont go down well with him....makes him even more angry. I then calm him down by bringing up my Phd.
Mommy dearest always complaining that I dont eat proper food.

Dont Ikea offer to assemble it for you for an extra £15-20 or so?
That is so worth it cos you let them do all the hard work, check up on the once in a while and if you dont like tell them to sort it out again :19: :23:
I helped my brother assemble or rather try to assemble a drawer and it was a pain in the aaa.... so from that day i vowed to never assemble large furniture

Of course about TV. My sisters are forever glued to crap indian channels watching rubbish indian soaps. They watch about 10-15 different soaps everyday and tell me to stop watching cricket as it affects my studies. :12:
