It's the moisture underneath that is helping the ball to get some grip. Once the moisture underneath is vanished, the spinners will not get any purchase until late day 3 or day 4.

The ball is spinning a bit - will be interesting if the match lasts 5 days - India will be batting last.

Pak batting sensibly and hope people can see why we have Malik here and not some quick 40 run wonder - we need to be on this pitch the longest - 400+ is gettable and is necessary to win this game

Pakistan need to bat solidly all day. i agree with ur post. remember england who collapsed from 101/0 to 270 odd all out. pakistan cant afford such a thing.

batting 2nd and 3rd in lahore has always been alot easier.

Your argument is exactly the reason I started with the lack of threat from Indian bowling rather than the pitch. They are not quick through the air so they can't take much from the pitch. Our bowling attack has pace and will bowl fuller and pace in the air and swing will be the key therefore minimizing the effect of the pitch. But back to Malik, I'm not saying he's no good, he's great, i want him opening this match, but it's a but early to get cocky.

Well CB bhai, he has taken 6 for 122 against us at Bangalore. Nothing to write home about, but it was the manner he bowled and just kept coming back at our batsmen.

Second of all, look at that rough way outside off stump. Who is going to use that rough better? Kumble or Harbhajan? If Kumble pitches there the ball will turn to slip...wide of slip! Meanwhile, Harbhajan can entice a batsmen to be drawn on the front foot for a bat pad.

Folks its a decent start. pakistan should look for victory. I thought it was very silly of Salman butt. Though it looks like it will turn as a blessing in disguise. malik and younis batted with extra caution and oneof them shud get a huge score and Pakistan will be safe in this match.
Indian bowling is not looking impressive. somthing is missing

Both Malik and Younis have done well against both of the Indian spinners who are turning it by a mile, Indian bowling has looked ok nothing special from the bowlers as yet.

imran khan : if i was inzi i wouldnt be that much happy regarding the pitch...this is not a helping pitch at all...during the course of the game the pitch is going to get flatter....this game might end towards a draw unless a team bats poorly......ball is rarly carying to the keeper......

imran khan : i was a little surprized to see pathan bowl...i saw him bowl a couple of yrz ago he bowled over 85 mps n now hes hardly 80 mphs..so speed is the essence here...im afraid with those conditions even if u swing it wont matter

Rudra Pratap Singh should have been picked for this test match, of what i saw of him in the Sri Lanaka series bowled pretty well consistently just outside off stump. very good young bowler India got there.

Indians are a bowler short. If Ganguly is a bowler then so is Younis Khan. Watch the pitch. It will magically start assisting the bowlers when Pakistan comes on to bowl. Either way we got 2 pacers a seamer 2 very good spinners and a okay offie. If Pakistan can bat through to lunch tommorrow it will be a uphill battle for India to save the test.

Well CB bhai, he has taken 6 for 122 against us at Bangalore. Nothing to write home about, but it was the manner he bowled and just kept coming back at our batsmen.

Second of all, look at that rough way outside off stump. Who is going to use that rough better? Kumble or Harbhajan? If Kumble pitches there the ball will turn to slip...wide of slip! Meanwhile, Harbhajan can entice a batsmen to be drawn on the front foot for a bat pad.

Hi guys I have been watching the match from about 11.00 am (PST) on Ten Sports, I missed the Salman Butt run-out, have seen the replays, it was farcical runing, credit must go to Yuvi for a great thorw. Till lunch it has been a decent performance sprinkled with some nice strokeplay from both Malik and Younis. They've built on a platform I guess it is time to build on it the rest of the day.

Coming to the post match analysis (Straight Drive) with Manjrekar, Imran, and Hussain. Imran doesn't like Malik, he is against him, he wants a specialist opener, he has nothing nice to say about Malik. Comes of as being very negative. He also said first up that the match is headed for a draw. Oh well, I guess he has a right to his opinion.

Looking forward for the post-lunch sessions.

Imran was making a point about Pathan, that he's become a heck lot slower, apparently Imran said when pathan came out 2 years ago he was around 85-87 mph, he seems to have dropped in pace quite a bit, he's consistantly bowling at 80-82 mph.
