are taps & romali indian supporters

hey can we have a little icon(perhaps a flag) which suggest one's fave country, so we have a better understanding of the context. 2 flags of pakistan for me

i was wondering if we had won the toss and put india in to bat, what would the final result have been?
hypotethical question, but did we ride in the back of kamran & raz's jazba(not to forget shoaib's bowling), or could we have

Such intensity, such fightback, such a huge huge Test match! What a turnaround! From 0-3 in the first innings to a massive kick-a$$ triumph of 341 runs and that too when we declared our world-record second innings with 7 down and the two top scoreres of the first innings still undefeated!

This thread shows what Pak cricket team and its fans are all about - intense, unpredictable and mighty brilliant!

It also shows who the true outrageous optimists are amongst us - those who even at 39/6 were still holding the heads high. I swear I would have been one of them posting here had it not been for me watching the match with mates and thus unable to post.

It also shows how truly fabulous and dangerous Akhtar is when the chips are down. He batted like a true warrior with Akmal on the first day and then came back to deliver absolute thunderbolts scaring the daylights out of Sehwag and Tendulkar, hitting the latter flash bang on the head with a rip-snorting 95 mph brute of a bouncer, contributing to the batsman's tame dismissal soon thereafter.

The thread is most memorable though for the two new aces of Pak cricket - Asif and Akmal. It was being said before this Test that this was once in a lifetime opportunity for a player on either side to make themselves instant legends in their country, and the duo responded so magnificently. Akmal's knock is probably the most precious innings ever played by a Pak batsman, in context of the circumstances and the impact on the Series. Asif's demolition of bewildered Indian top batsmen merely alerted the world that another major bowling superstar from Pak has arrived.

Classic thread. What a comeback, from 39-6 to a 341 run win.

I remember on the cricbuzz chat bar on the side, alot of Indians were laughing and celebrating when we were 0-3. They were talking about how we would get bowled out for 10 and India, through their magnificent batting lineup would make 600. Boy, were they in for a suprise! :)))

Don't want to ruin your fun guys but this after the first over got even more funny that it would ever have been...

And theyve started.

Afridi and Salman will open.

0.1 Pathan to Salman, one run, flicked to deep square leg, off the mark straight away and brings Afridi on strike.
0.2 Pathan to Afridi: SIX!, Goodness me! Good length ball outside the offstump, Afridi comes charging down the track and murders it out of the stadium.
0.3 Pathan to Afridi, SIX! Another one!! Pathan goes for the yorker, but Afridi being the beast he is obliterates it back past the bowler and the balls mashes into the advertising boards.
0.4 Pathan to Afridi, SIX! Hat-trick!!!! Short delivery this time and it is fearlessly hooked way way over the ropes and into the crowd.
0.5 Pathan to Afridi SIX!! This is amazing!!! Good length ball from Pathan, Afridi comes down the track again but this time slog sweeps him!! What a sight!!
0.6 Pathan to Afridi SIX! 5 in a row!! Afridi! Afridi! Slower ball thats been annihilated out of Karachi. No chance of ever seeing that ball again!! End of an eventful over!!

It was interesting that there was movement to be extracted from the pitch throughout the game.

I wonder whether that was because the match was played in January.

Usually in Pakistan, a grassy pitch offers movement on day one and then becomes a belter. So perhaps, had the match been played at another time of the year, the pitch would have developed differently.

As it happens it turned out to be an excellent pitch that promoted a wonderful contest. It was a match played at breathless speed.

In the end Pakistan won a match that many thought they had lost in the first over!

The second heaviest defeat India has suffered! The way we fought back really jolted India and the poor team couldn't get back at any stage of the match! All due to one of the most amazing centuries I have ever witnessed by Kami. Coming in at 39/6, playing that kind of an innings would have been extremely difficult, yet he made it look so simple!

All in all a very memorable test match

Just like you guys can never forget these stats:

Tests

Pak 12-8 India

ODIs

Pak 64-40 India
Just to let you know, more than 60% of the matches mentioned in that 64 figure, were in that Circus organized in Sharjah by bukhatir and fixed by Dawood and our own Azhar unfortunately.

hmm just let go of it Hash, its time to win more matches lets not dance around on past laurels.

Its pretty hard to let go of. This was one of the most amazing thrashing ever dished out to an international team in years! From the depths of despair to ridicuolously mauling the opposition like that (and that too specially India) is something pretty unforgettable

Really?India beat Pakistan in 2004 in Pakistan twice in test matches that too by well over an innings but you wont find me bragging about it all the time.

It called maturity and respecting your opponent which obviously is an alien concept to people like you.

The thing that made it so special was the fact that we were 39/6 in the first session! 39/6 and then roaring back to maul your opponents is something much better than what India managed in that 2003-04 series

Actually there are some matches which tend to occupy permanent space in mind. This match was certainly which most Pakistan fans would savor for long long time. Especially the one who witnessed the match for entire duration.

And it won't be good to compare this match with Ind-Pak 2004 series. If you have to compare, compare 39/6 with 281. You know what I mean right? :)

Can the below match ever bore you? :D

Some say quite possibly the greatest comeback in history, bravo to India for pulling off a stunning comback at 'home', credit where credit is due, fantastic game which made people stand up and become interested in cricket again, also ended a certain run Australia were on as well.

Just like u guys can never forget The Centurian match in 2003 and That innings of Rahul Dravid in Rawalpindi and Sehwag's 309 . :23:

Well, you missed the gist!! It was after we were 39/6, dear...just like it was 26/6 in Calcutta '99!! :27: :23:

And those innings of Dravid and Sehwag - I can turn back and remind you of YK's 1000+ runs in just 4 Tests against you, or even Inzamam's 186 in Bangalore! Anyhow, so long ago - a shame that Asif and Shoaib tormented your batsmen silly in the last match that they played each other - '03 is history now - we gunned your folks down big time and sweept the floor with them in '05. :19:
