Interesting show in NA 122 Imran Khan's constituency. Almost 70% people responded PTI in first half of show and then she went to an inner suburb where 80% people said PMLN. That's already a big change from few months ago and i am sure few who said PMLN without much enthusiasm can be converted. Most interesting fact was PPP supporters are now going for PTI which is great to see.

Upcoming polls: PTI announces candidates for K-P, FATA, Balochistan

Announcing names for its candidates for National and provincial assembly seats in Karachi, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf said on Thursday that if free and fair elections are held, MQM will lose its mandate.
“If transparent elections are held in a peaceful environment then we can give tough competition to MQM and it would lose its mandate,” the party’s senior leader Dr Arif Alvi said at a press conference.
Dr Alvi will be contesting elections from NA-250.
PTI released names of candidates who would be contesting the elections from different constituencies of Karachi.
The party revealed 18 candidates for the city’s total 20 national assembly seats.
PTI candidates for Balochistan
The party is set to field Muhammad Qasim Khan Suri for NA-259 (Quetta), Nawab Khan for NA-261 and Akhtar Mandokhel for NA-264.
FATA, Islamabad
For the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, PTI will field Dawood Shah for NA-36, Shahid Khan for NA-38, Dost Muhammad Khan for NA-42, Javed Hashmi for NA-48 and Chaudhry Ilyas for NA-49.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
PTI has also allotted party tickets for candidates in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi will run for NA-1, NA-5 will be contested by Pervez Khan Khattak and Anwar Haq Dad will run for NA-12.
MQM informally fields candidates for Sindh
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) informally allotted National and provincial Assembly tickets to its candidates on Thursday. The party said they will make a formal announcement on April 20.
20 MQM candidates for National and 42 for provincial assembly seats will contest the May 11 elections.
Out of all National and provincial Assembly seats, the party has only allotted one seat to a woman candidate to contest general election – Khushbakht Shujaat for NA-250.
However, many candidates of the party who were members in the outgoing provincial Sindh Assembly will continue for yet another term. These include Faisal Sabzwari and Dr Sagheer Ahmed among others.
PML-F and the 10-party bloc
After much deliberation, the ten-party alliance led by Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) chief Pir Pagara also allotted seats to its candidates.
According to the list issued from PML-F head office, out of a total 61 National Assembly and 130 provincial assembly seats in Sindh, 47 candidates will contest from national assembly (NA) and 90 provincial assembly elections.
Notable candidates from the alliance include PML-N’s Raheela Magsi for NA 233 and Illahi Bux Soomro for NA 208. PML-N’s Marvi Memon will contest NA-237 and the party’s President in Sindh Pir Sadaruddin Rashdi for NA 216.
According to spokesman for Raja House (residence of Pir Pagara), PML-F will have major share in the electoral alliance as 13 candidate of the party will contest on National and 32 on provincial assembly seats.
PML N has been given eight National and 15 provincial assembly seats. Jamaat-e Islami has been allotted 10 National and 13 provincial Assembly. JUI-F will contest six national and nine provincial assembly seats. National Peoples Party has been given one National and six provincial assembly seats. Sindh Tarraqi Passand Party has been allotted one National and provincial Assembly seat each. Similarly, Sindh United Party has been allotted two National and three provincial Assembly seats.
Awami Tahreek has been allotted three National and four provincial Assembly seats.
In Karachi JI will have a significant share, as the alliance will support JI’s 9 National and 10 provincial Assembly candidates.
Published in The Express Tribune, April 19th, 2013.
Correction: In an earlier version of this article, Marvi Memon was erroneously mentioned as a PML-F member. The error has been fixed.

Don't know exact details about him... But he has been associated with the party for a long time. way before Hassan Nisar decided to throw his support behind us. He was replaced by Ahsan Rasheed ex Punjab president when Shahid Akram Bhinder aka lota joined PTI and later left, Rana Naeem Stuck around and worked and won the intra party election. here is a video from a year ago after Bhinder took over.

Highly unlikely that he will win. Here in our Pashtun belt of Balochistan, the real competition will be between JUI-F and PMAP and to a lesser extent,ANP and JUI-Nazreyaati will play their part.

That's reassuring. :)

PML(N) have traditionally been very strong in the north. I was hoping they would campaign at least two days in this area. Rural areas need a lot of work.

Its not PMLN that has been strong there, rather strong contestants made PMLN look strong. But now situation is totally different n most of those bigwigs are in PTI, courtesy chaudhry nisar's nepotism :fawad

As far as jehlum n sargodha are concerned, we'd totally have to rely on party votes, because most off the contestants are new.

Abrar ul Haq vs Ahsan Iqbal is another good contest. Just watched show on Samaa and result was 50% PTI, 45%PMLN which is good result considering it was yet another PMLN stronghold.

Ahsan Iqbal who i thought was one of few decent PMLN leaders is actually quite a cheap person. He is criticizing Abrar ul Haq because of his singing (in derogatory way) and also said he wasn't sure if Abrar uses all donations on hospitals.

Imran throws May 11 challenge to Nawaz

Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf chairman Imran Khan has thrown a challenge to Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) chief Nawaz Sharif for a “battle” on May 11, the polling day for general elections.

Speaking at a public rally at Data Darbar on Saturday night, Khan asked Nawaz Sharif whether he was ready for the “battle”? He said the big names in politics would be looking for places to hide on May 11. He said “circus lions” would never be able to face highly charged youth.

The PTI chief said youth would be agents of change in the country and their role in the forthcoming elections would never be forgotten.

“A new Pakistan will start emerging on May 6,” he added.

PML-N’s Mahmood Gillani joined the PTI on the occasion.

Earlier, the PTI chief kicked off party’s election campaign in Lahore from its Upper Mall office that falls in his constituency NA-122.

He led a big rally of party workers and supporters and offered prayers at Data Darbar and later opened election offices in various constituencies. People accorded him a warm welcome.

Speaking at the rally and opening of election offices, Mr Khan said the Lahorites would be making a history on May 11 by giving mandate for change. He said the Lahorites would reject the corrupt, those who accumulated assets abroad and gave public ‘gifts’ of lawlessness, price-hike and loadshedding.

The PTI chairman said the PPP and PML-N were equally responsible for the corruption and mismanagement during the last five years. He said that those who spent Rs150 billion on flop projects had no right to come to power again. Now, he said, masses had come out for a countrywide change. He said the youth had taken the responsibility of the future of the nation and this change would cater to progress and prosperity for Pakistan, where basic facilities were not provided to the people during the last 65 years.

The party chief inaugurated PTI election offices in NA-118 (Shahdara), NA-120 Bhatti Chowk, NA-121 Main Boulevard Gulshan-i- Ravi and NA-122 Samanabad where party candidates Hamid Zaman, Mohammad Madni, Barrister Hammad Azhar and Dr Yasmin Rashid along with provincial seats’ candidates were present on the occasion.

Lahore PTI president Abdul Aleem Khan accompanied Imran Khan and told party candidates that the chairman would visit all Lahore constituencies in coming days.

EUROPEAN UNION: A three-member delegation of European Union election observers on Saturday visited the PTI office at
Upper Mall and discussed different aspects of general elections with party’s Lahore president Abdul Aleem Khan.

PTI candidates in Taxila: old wine in a new bottle

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has awarded the party ticket to three former members of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q for the one National Assembly and two Provincial Assembly seats, casting doubt on the PTPs mantra of new faces and slogans of change.

Observing the changing political scenario, local political pundits are of the view that no `new face` has been granted a PTI ticket in the area, proving the old political saying `old wine in new bottles.

They said PTI Chief Imran Khan had announced to bring new, honest and transparent faces, but the party had inducted old faces instead.

According to these political observers, Imran Khan`s litmus test was the distribution of party tickets. He had time and again stated that 25 percent of the party tickets would be awarded to the youth, but had awarded the tickets contrary to the aspirations of the party`s diehard workers.

The ticket for the NA seat was granted to Ghulam Sarwar Khan, the federal minister in General Musharraf`s era, who had remained PML-Q Vice President for two years after his exit from power.

Similarly, Sadeeg Khan, the candidate for the provincial assembly seat PP-7, is the younger brother of Sarwar Khan. He had been the tehsil nazim in the Musharraf era, and remained the district General Secretary of PML-Q.

The PP-8 candidate, Taimoor Masood, had contested the 2008 elections on the PML-Q ticket.

The political observers are of the view that the same old people who had been tried by the public had switchedloyalties after enjoying the perks and privileges from their former patrons. They said the award of tickets mocked the PTI`s slogan of change.

They said that die hard party workers such as Mansoor Siddiqui and Khawaja Imtiaz advocate had remained with the party, but were knocked out by the new comers.

`With the ascent of the party after the struggle of more than a decade, former opponents took over the helm of the party and committed workers were sidelined,` said Mansoor Siddiqui, an old guard of the party in the area who is also member of the central exec-utive committee.

`People have not supported PTI for presenting the old wine in anew bottle in the form of Quereshis, Tareens, Qasooris, Maliks and Sheikhs,` said Asif Zia, former organiser of PTI Taxila, who had filed his nomination papers from Taxila but withdrew them when the party did not award him the ticket.

He quoted the statement of PTI Chief Imran Khan`s press conference of April 15 in Islamabad, in which Imran had claimed that `his party had changed the culture of `musical chairs` as the same old faces could not bring change`. He termed the statement as a true lie.

Another worker of the PTI and member of the central executive committee, Khawaja Mohammad Imtiaz, had also been denied the party ticket.

He said the party had been `hijacked` by mafia groups and was just like any other political party; actual work-ers were being ignored and merit was being violated.

`I was the PTI`s candidate in the 1997 and 2002 general elections when holding a PTI ticket was a symbol of shame.

Today, when newcomers have started showing interest in acquiring PTI tickets, we have been ignored. We played a rich role in the PTPs promotion, not only in Pakistan but also in Britain and other European countries,` Mr Imtiaz added.

He said side lining the loyal workers, the tickets for PP8 and PP-7 had also been given to people who had joined the PTI just six months ago.

`These mafia groups cannot bring the revolutionwhich Imran Khan has promised,` he said. `People in our constituency are a n x i o u s .

Protest is ourpolitical and democratic right, and we will raise this issue at every level,` Khawaja said.

In 2007, Imran Khan had appointed Khawaja Muhammad Imtiaz as the PTI Presidentfor London.

Committing on the issue, Sarwar Khan, who is leading his group, said the party had awarded the ticket to his team on pure merit. He said only he had a personal vote bank of over 40,000 voters in the area, adding that he had changed his party on the demand of his supporters.

Sarwar Khan said the PTI had given him the party ticketdue tohis vote bank, popularity and credibility.

He said the old workers were welcome to join his ranks, and he would give them due respect, but they could not challenge the rivals, especially heavyweight politicians such as PML-N`sCh Nisar Ali Khan.

Senior party leaders, in an interaction with this reporter, ruled out the possibility that the elections would prove a hard nut to crack for the new comers or would have difficulty in holding on to high offices. They said the old workers did not have a strong vote bank and lacked popularity among the ideological workers.

The new inductees would be able to bring the party to a winning position, they added.

Sources said a majority of PTI workers were ready to vote for the Khan group, while the old party stalwart Khawaja Imtiaz would have been no where in the election race.

`His family vote bank would have been divided, as his elder brother, Khawaja Waqar Khan, is contesting under the Jamaat-e-Islami flag,` they said.

Moreover, the distribution of tickets among the PTI candidates has deepened rift in the party, as an old party worker who was denied the ticket has decided to contest the elections independently.

It seems that the present situation in the party ranks would divide the party vote bank in the area.

Internal rifts among the party surfaced when two different groups filed their nomination papers on the last day with the party flags.

Recent surveys show that the PTI registered a decline and its main rival in the area, the PML-N, had staged a comeback in terms of popular ratings. Rifts in the wake of award of tickets have also dented the PTI rise.

The PTI political strategy committee urgently needs to evolve a strategy to repair this dent and gain maximum electoral strength in the upcoming elections.

PML-N faces revolt in Mandi Bahauddin

The Pakistan Muslim LeagueNawaz faces a challenging situation due to a revolt in the party ranks of Mandi Bahauddin as district president and ex-MPA Mushtaq Ahmed Dewan has quit the party office for denial of party ticket for PP-116 (Mandi city).

He has formed a new group called Wafa along with ex-MNA Ijaz Chaudhry who was also denied ticket for NA-108 by the PML-N.

Former chief minister and party leader Shahbaz Sharif is due in the district on April 22 to address an election rally in a bid to control the damage.

Both Dewan and Ijaz are running their election campaign for PP-116 and NA-108, respectively. The PML-N has fielded former MNA and stalwart from Mandi Bahauddin Mumtaz Tarrar for NA-108 and gave PP-116 to former MPA Ms Hameed Waheeduddin who joined the party after ditching PML-Q. It is Tarar who has actually brought Hameed to the N-League.

Dewan confirmed that he had severed his 15 years affiliation with the PML-N. He said the party had stabbed him in the back in return for his sacrifices. He said when there was no body to contest the elections on the PML-N ticket in the district in 2002, he and his family had come forward.

He said when a better time had come, the party preferred a woman who had remained a staunch supporter of the Musharraf regime. Heclaimed to have the support of the local PML-N workers that had revolted against the wrong decision of the leadership.

On the other hand, PML-Q nominee for PP-116 Zulgarnain Sahi has withdrawn his nomination papers in favour of PPP candidate ex-MPA Tariq Sahi.

Insiders in the PML-N said that the party was also facing the same situation in PP-119 (Malakwal) where three out of four aspirants of the ticket had been running separate election campaign as independent candidates.

The PML-N has reposed trust in the old timer Shafgat Gondal for PP-119. Gondal had contested the last two general elections as a party nominee but both the times stood third on the table.

PTI, JI poll offices attacked in Karachi

With the election campaign by political parties yet to gain momentum amid fears, an election camp and an office of two parties were set on fire on Saturday further adversely affecting the electioneering pace and raising security concerns among contesting candidates, officials and party sources said.

In the early hours of the day, an election camp of the Pakistan Tehreek-iInsaf (PTI) in Sector 11-E near UP Mor was ransacked before being set on fire.

`The suspects ran away after executing the job,` said a police officer. `Area people and party workers said the miscreants also fired shots into the air though we did not find any sign. More police force has been deployed in the affected part of the area.

As the police expressed ignorance about the people and their motive for the arson attack, the PTI leaders said undemocratic forces wanted to keep their party from election campaigning mainly in Karachi.

`We know very well and have the capacity to respond to such cowardly acts,` said Jamal Siddiq, the PTI media coordinator. `But we believe in democratic norms which demand policy of co-existence. The camp set on fire was actually a part of PTITabdeeli Razakar Camp (camp of volunteers for change) and a large number of Karachi youngsters are turning up at these camps to contribute for the change approaching.

In every Karachi town, he said, the PTI had set up at least two such camps where it had registered hundreds of youngsters for `being a part of change`. He ruled out any review in the strategy after the arson attack.

`Our morale is high and we are determined to continue our peaceful struggle, which has received enormous response from Karachiites.

We are not removing any camp in any part of the city, said Mr Siddiqi.

While the police were yet to register an FIR of the attack, the `miscreants` struck again and this time a Jamaat-iIslami (JI) election camp in Nazimabad was the target.

`Early in the morning the JI election office in Nazimabad No 2 was attacked when no one was there,` said SSP central Amir Faroogi.

`The miscreants ransacked the office and also tried to set it on fire. The camp office was set up temporarily in a shop that was once used as a barber`s shop. The police are busy assessing loss before registering the case,` the SSP said.

In a statement, the JI condemned the incident and said the caretaker administration seemed powerless to maintain law and order in the city. The situation had raised doubts over peace on polling day, the party said, seeking immediate arrest of the `miscreants`.

`The attack on the JI elec-tion office for PS-104 exposes the seriousness and capability of our security administration,` said the party statement.

It added that JI workers were calm despite a serious threat to their lives considering past experience of electioneering in Karachi but they enjoyed every right to protest and expose the biasness of the caretaker set-up.

With fears looming over the city amid threats of banned outfits to attack parties contesting polls, back-to-back attacks on election offices of the political parties apparently on political grounds emerged as another challenge for the law-enforcement agencies before the May 11 elections.

The killing of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) candidate for the Sindh Assembly in Hyderabad and Pakistan People`s Party`s (PPP) covering candidate in Karachi`s Orangi Town earlier this month coupled with an attack on a school owned by an Awami National Party leader in Baldia Town that claimed his life reflect the level of threat that was already there before fresh incidents ofarson attacks.

`Security is definitely an issue,` said SSP Faroogi.

`We have asked the parties to at least inform the area police before setting up an election office or camp. We can only manage security when we are aware of such spots. In case of JI office we were not taken in the loop neither the party leaders informed the area police about any office in that locality.

PTI Chakwal leader, others join PML-N
CHAKWAL - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chakwal leader Naeem Akram along with other office bearers on Sunday resigned from the party over differences on ticket distribution and joined Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Naeem Akram who applied for a PTI ticket from NA-60, said PTI chief Imran Khan backed on his promise to give tickets to party workers.
Akram is brother of PTI District President Rizwan Akram and Vice President Labiba Iffat.
He announced his decision during a meeting with defence analyst Lt Gen (r) Abdul Qayyum. Candidate for the National Assembly (NA) seat from PML-N Major (r) Tahir Iqbal and other officer bearers of the party were also present on the occasion.
Akram said he along with his brother enrolled more than 27,000 members in PTI from Chakwal but the party tickets were awarded to those who recently joined while he and his family had been working with PTI since the last many years.
Gen Qayyum welcomed them to PML-N and assured that due respect and honour would be given to the new entrants.
He also announced full support for Tahir Iqbal.
Qayyum said Nawaz Sharif is the only experienced politician who can lead the country through the present challenges.
Tahir Iqbal admitted that some mistakes had been made in the past but assured that the future would be different. He appealed to PML-N workers to start a massive campaign since only 20 days were left in general elections.
Other leaders who spoke on the occasion were Ziaul Hassan Zaidi, Malik Mohiud Din, Raja Sajid Iqbal, Shahid Abbasi and Sheikh Zaffar Hassan.
The speakers vowed to support PML-N candidates and were confident that all six seats from Chakwal would go to PML-N. -

HN sometime's over-reacts to news... some news you take as a grain of salt, and try to continue with the bigger picture, come to a cautious stand, and then when nothing seems to be going with the bigger picture, you make a stand... he just explodes immediately at times... basically in this stance, instead of going all out/nutty he should give a word of caution that this may prove costly etc etc...

nothing will stop the tsunami of a positive change that awaits Pakistan on May 11th...

Although in the constituency of Tariq Fazal chaudhry ,there are dharas because of more rural area...but other constituency NA-48 is quite dharra/baradari free but JI have a strong candidate namely Mian Aslam ,he is popular and a difficult candidate for PTI...

Leadership is often overlooked by political scientists when they are analysing historical trends, defining paradigms and charting political economies. But the personality of a leader can actually have a more lasting impact on how things are remembered than any number of statistics.

The ideological legacy for good or ill, of Margaret Thatcher for example will not be remembered as vividly as her personality as a powerful woman, the Iron Lady who defended capitalism and enriched several generations of entrepreneurs. Her strength of character and values are her legacy and so it will be with emerging world leaders in the 21st century.

No longer are generals and dictators grabbing power and establishing corrupt dynasties, but increasingly, all over the world, democracy in all its shapes and forms is producing leaders who are visionaries, technocrats, pragmatists and most importanly representatives of their people.

In Pakistan, for example, the election scheduled for May 11 this year, could see the coming to power of a charismatic leader with potential international stature, if Imran Khan’s party gains the majority vote, as is widely expected.

A victory for Imran Khan would herald a new era in South Asian history and a new leadership style and substance that reverses the usual story. Born in Pakistan and having received the best education, Khan became a cricket hero and a society celebrity before turning his back on fame to become a serious politician and philanthropist.

Wholly committed to the future of the people of Pakistan, he represents the force for change that Pakistan has been waiting for, reflected by the drop in approval ratings to 14% of the last President, Zardari.

Khan does not have a military past to relinquish, nor will he be dazzled by fame and fortune as he has already lived a life of wealth and privilege; cosmopolitan and sophisticated, yet at ease in simple cotton clothes while caring for his farmland, he is comfortable in his own skin and sure of his own faith and destiny.

Aware that his country is suffering from a corrupt government and a floundering economy, he has called on the best national and expatriate minds to help craft his policies for the future with teams of experts helping to write his reform agenda.

He plans to restructure institutions and infrastructure, solve the energy crisis, spur economic growth, reform the legal system and improve public safety. This is certainly an ambitious agenda but one that can be achieved given national and political will. He also believes that the sectarian and ethnic violence in the country can be ended, by distancing Pakistan from international politics and dealing with terrorism as a national problem.

Outspoken against the US drone strikes in the north, he sees them as counter-productive, feeding anti-Americanism and turning more people towards the militants.

The potential loss of US aid is not a factor, as it is widely known to be propping up the current political structure, helping to keep it in power.

Without international aid, Pakistan will be forced to make reforms and become a more independent and democratic country.

Imran Khan’s vision for his country is similar to that of other rising leaders in Muslim countries where colonialism has been replaced by corrupt dictators and authoritarian military leaders, intent on maintaining their own power and prosperity to the detriment of their people.

The Arab Spring has shaken their complacency and their overthrow has provided opportunity for a new aspect of politics in countries such as Egypt and Libya and soon, hopefully, Syria.

Nobody thinks the transitions will be fast or easy.

But, Imran Khan could well become the new paradigm for people-centered politics. Nationalistic, centrist, pragmatic, intellectual and faith-based, new leaders like Imran Khan are the best hope for their countries and the rising generations asking for change.

All eyes will be on Pakistan’s election on May 11 and will be hoping for free and peaceful voting with the result the people of Pakistan deserve.

Detractors of candidates will face action: Imran

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has asked party office-bearers to mend their ways and support ticket-holders in election campaign.

The party will take action for violating party discipline against those office-bearers, who will not be found supporting ticket-holders within three days.

The PTI chief`s message was made public by party`s Punjab president Ejaz Chaudhry, who is looldng after election campaign across the province, at a news conference at party`s media office on Monday.

Mr Chaudhry said he had withdrawn his nomination papers on the directions of party chief despite the fact that his papers were accepted by the returning officer concerned.

The PTI Punjab president said the party tickets hadbeen awarded on merit while considering district and provincial parliamentary boards.

He said party`s 35 per cent tickets had gone to youth and added that PTI`s 80 per cent candidates were contesting general elections for the first time in their lives. He said the PTI candidates in Punjab included 10 barristers, 55 LLB degree holders, 10 doctors and seven engineers.

Announcing PTI chief Imran Khan`s election campaign schedule in the province, Mr Chaudhry said party chief Imran Khan was facing life threats but still going ahead with party election campaign across the country.

He said Imran Khan would hold election rally from Lahore to Renala Khurd as well as arrange public meetings in Okara, Sahiwal and Chichawatni on Tuesday (today).

The PTI chief will hold aseries of public meetings in Shahkot, Sheikhupura and Pattoki (April 24), Pakpattan, Lodhran and Vehari (April 25), Jalalpur, Peeranwala, Mian Channu, Kabirwala and Muzaffargarh (April 26), Bahawalpur, Khanpur, Khan Bela, Sadiqabad and Rahim Yar Khan (April 27), Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum (April 29), Mianwali (April 30), Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin and Gujrat (May 2), Chiniot, Sargodha, Jhang and Faisalabad (May 5), Narowal, Kasur, Sialkot and Multan (May 6), Traders Convention and rally in Lahore (May 7), rally from Shahdra, Lahore, to public meeting venue in Gujranwala (May 8) and rally from Gujranwala to Rawalpindi, Islamabad, via G.T. Road on May 9.

The election campaign will culminate with Imran Khan`s address to a mass public meeting in Islamabad.

N League's disgruntled 5 times MNA has announced to support Brig (retd) Mumtaz Kahlon of PTI against N league's Haji Akram Ansari ,another 5 time MNA for NA-85 Faisalabad....

And it is an urban constituency..

Mera halqa :-) Haji Akram Ansari is such a useless creature but keeps on winning just because he is ANSARI. I don't know much about PTI candidate but he should fancy his chances as this is urban constituency and there are quite a few educated people but i haven't seen much PTI activity in Faisalabad so not sure about our presence which is sad considering there are 11 NA seats on offer and it has not been a stronghold of PMLN.

That 5 time MNA is former federal communication minister Raja Nadir Pervez..

Raja got 41,448 votes in 2002 elections on PML N ticket and defeated PPP against all odds when no one was supporting N league under Musharaf rule...

Haji Akram got 72197 votes on N ticket in 2008 and defeated another Ansari, Shakeel of PPP who got 46461 votes...

With the general election drawing nearer, the war of words between the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) is heating up as they try to woo voters by holding rallies in various cities of Punjab.

Addressing a rally on Tuesday in Punjab’s Renala Khurd region, Imran Khan, the cricketer-turned-politician chief of PTI, ridiculed his political opponent saying Nawaz Sharif, the PML-N chief, could not beat him in a game of cricket.

“He should come on TV to have a debate with me because I know he cannot beat me in cricket,” Khan told his supporters, taunting Sharif of being afraid of facing him.

He also accused the PML-N of engaging in a secret alliance with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in the outgoing regime.

Khan’s tirade against Sharif prompted an immediate reaction from his political foes.

At a press conference in Lahore, Hamza Shahbaz, son of former Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, and Maryam Nawaz, daughter of the PML-N chief, accused the PTI leader of choosing to stay away from contesting against Sharif in Lahore’s NA-120.

“If Imran is running away from contesting election against Nawaz Sharif, how will he come on a TV debate to face my father,” Maryam told newsmen.

Moreover, Hamza claimed some PTI leaders were shunning the party and joining the PML-N.

PML-N spokesman Senator Pervaiz Rasheed also came down hard on the PTI leader, questioning his role in the lawyers’ movement.

“Imran should not be talking about political ethics. He is alleging that Nawaz Sharif fears facing him. Where was Imran hiding during the lawyers’ movement?” Rasheed asked.

Referring to an incident where PTI workers protested outside Khan’s residence, the PML-N spokesman said the PTI chief was perhaps the only political leader who was seeking security against his own.

Punjab, Pakistan’s most populous province which is traditionally a PML-N stronghold, is slated to be the battleground between the two parties. And while the war of words between the two is not a novel phenomenon, its intensity and frequency appears to be on the rise with the coming general election fast approaching.

Levelling allegations : PTI youth wing accuses party leaders of selling tickets
By Our Correspondent

Former PTI district president Zafar Khattak alleged the ticket for PK-Peshawar was sold for Rs. 10 million. PHOTO: FILE
PESHAWAR:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) youth wing on Tuesday accused the party’s parliamentary board of taking bribes in exchange for allotting tickets to candidates for the upcoming polls.

Addressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club, PTI youth wing provincial General Secretary Fahim Ahmad Khan claimed he was initially allotted a ticket to contest from PK-6. Khan alleged some people from the parliamentary board later demanded money from him, saying if he did not pay up, his ticket would be given to someone else.

“Imran Khan himself recommended my name to the board for a ticket, but the members ignored me because they asked for money and I refused to pay. Thus, my ticket was given to another person,” Fahim alleged.

“Initially, I was asked to pay Rs1.5 million. However, the amount later came down to Rs0.5 million. I was told to deposit the money to an account number that was sent to me. All this communication was done through the president of PTI youth wing backed by PTI’s provincial president and general secretary,” claimed Fahim.

He accused Shah Farman, Parvez Khattak and PTI provincial president Asad Qaiser of demanding money from candidates.

Fahim added a ticket for PK-40 Karak was to be issued to Altaf Qadir Khattak, but when he went to the returning officer (RO) he was informed his ticket had been issued to someone else.

Former PTI district president Zafar Khattak also spoke at the press conference. He alleged the ticket for PK-1 Peshawar was sold for Rs10 million, while the rates of some other tickets were fixed at Rs5 million.

Zafar maintained the PTI was violating its own rule of allotting tickets on merit. He said they [the youth wing] would start a campaign against corrupt politicians who are destroying the PTI’s image. However, the former office bearer said they would neither quit the party nor stop supporting Imran Khan.

“We will go into Asad Qaiser and Parvez Khattak’s constituencies and tell voters to be careful of who they vote for,” said Zafar.

The activists of the youth wing demanded PTI chief Imran Khan to form an inquiry committee to probe the accusations, and cancel the membership of those found guilty.

there are allegations like this in every party. Definitely needs an inquiry but notice the difference, the accusing people are still in party and still support IK and trust party leadership for justice. Stark contrast to other parties where people have left party and running as independent candidates !

Valid concern

I support IK but I am not a blind supporter

You can't please everyone but it does seem that not all tickets were distributed fairly by PTI. Understandably, some workers are disgruntled & angry with Imran. However violence (the attack the other day on his house by some miscreants) has no place anywhere.

Such pathetic behaviour is inexcusable but it is not exclusive to PTI or necessarily a reflection of PTI workers. It is a sad reflection of the society we live in. some party workers are mohazzab, some are not so mohazzab and then there are unruly elements or troublemakers within each party. If PTI tickets have been awarded to some unscrupulous people (even if they represent a very tiny minority of all tickets distributed by PTI), then PTI supporters should rightly express their displeasure and not just blindly support it. Otherwise there will be no difference between PTI supporters and jiyalas for instance.

35 percent youth candidates. 80 percent of people have never been corrupted by the system and have never been to parliament. Tell me which other party has done that

While IK may not be corrupt, PTI is by no means perfect just like Pakistan is not a perfect country. But it is as perfect or complete as our society.

Lets take it Point By Point:
1- “Imran Khan himself recommended my name to the board for a ticket, but the members ignored me because they asked for money and I refused to pay. Thus, my ticket was given to another person,” Fahim alleged.
So it shows that "If" this guy was deserving than even IK realized it and recommended but due to alleged monopoly of elected unions. He couldnt get ticket.
2- If they are right than they had many ways to prove their claims with evidence. We are living in a digital world so having evidence is not a difficult thing now a days.
They could have used this evidence and would have put pressure on PTI leadership to kick out those are ruining the image of party and asking for money.
3- As expected many guys who didnt got tickets from party are putting allegations some are true and some are false.
So till its proved it will remain as alleged. Not proven.
4- It shows PTI is not like PML-N or other parties where IK can behave like king and decide everything on his own.
This is called democracy within party.

@PTI

^^ is this the first time we are hearing that there has been arm-twisting, blackmail and even money being changed hands for PTI party tickets and indeed in the party elections?

certainly not, and it went as far as supporters attacking the house of their own party leader, beyond shocking.

you may like to spin it as showing a 'fair and open' process but it just looks like IK is not in control.

NS behaving like a king is just a useless point, PMLN just like the PTI has a central council to decide ticket allocation, if there was such a big injustice being done you would have seen protests bigger than PTI.

I am not spinning i state the facts. You have nothing left to say that why these allegations have no proof so you are trying to imply other problems.
Who said PTI is full of angels? Did I?
Nothing is perfect in this world other than ALLAH.
But we need to see who is trying and who is not.who is trying to change system.
These were the 1st intra party elections in history of asian politics let alone pakistan.
I wish PML-N had done it whom you are trying to do face saving but sadly they never did and still not doing because they dont want to loose power.
PMLN has central council is saying like we have SHO and police everywhere but the point is implementation of law.Just by having police department and making laws is not the solution rather implementation of laws is important with infrastructure.
If PML=N is soo good than why Saad Rafique was holding mic of maryam and hamza shehbaz.search for program "Talaash" in whch your Saad Rafique told he is against dynasty politics.
Rather than criticizing PTI intra party elections 1st ask PML-N to have courage to carry out intra party elections.

Imran Khan's disadvantage is that he never had any chance of building these bridges and roads so 50% people reject him straightaway without taking into consideration pathetic governance, corruption, police system, nepotism, job losses etc etc etc.
