Bit nervous about this game...the Kiwis are under the pump and look like they're ripe for a hammering - that's what makes me nervous.

Marshall's gutted it out well. Took some rough blows on the arm with Gillespie peppering him with a few short ones, but he's shown excellent technique and mental strength - and just smashed Shane Warne for a straight six an over ago.
Cumming's looked good as well - nice way to start your career against the no.1 test team.
139/1 right now.

wicket looks a good one for batting, new zealand batted negatively for 1st part off day and then increased scoring as day went on.

Excellent stuff from unknown batsman. Great application by starting slow and speeding up. End result is 1 fifty 1 century and a excellent score against the best in the world. Something pak should learn from. Pak would have been 250 all out at tea.

Worry about the Craps is that they only seem to perform when completely written off. There were expectations in the ODIs, and they choked BIG TIME... now they've done well.
Hamish Marshall looks like a true class player. Cumming - suspect against raw pace as he showed against Lee, but decent looking against McGrath/Dizzy/Kasper on a flatter wicket. Of course, given his dismissal, I'd say he has John Bracewell's brain capacity.

hehehe apparently nething that isnt dhum shoom dhamaka is negative cricket
NZ got thrashed in the ODI's. they were merely being careful. Not negative.. u shud use that word mpre appropriately. itll make more sense. they almost scored @ 3 an over by the end against the best bowling attack in the world currently

It is amazing to think Gillespie may be dropped from the next game! It seems if he doesn't come up with the goods he may indeed be replaced by Brett Lee. Over the past couple of months Gillespie has strangely lost a bit of zip and hasn't looked like getting wickets.
I thought Lee should have played this test. He looks a much improved bowler and its time to give him another go in tests. He really troubled the Kiwis with his pace in the odis and that would have left a scar.
Also, on pitches that don't have much for the bowlers it is someone like Lee with that extra pace you can rely on to get breakthroughs even if he is a tad expensive. The Mcgrath, Kasper and Gillespie combo just looks a little one d.

We let ourselves down - Fleming
New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming said his players had repeated recent failings by going down to a heavy four-day defeat against Australia.
Fleming said: "We let ourselves down. Day four got us again through poor batsmanship and lack of application.
"We need to take the game by the scruff of the neck. At the moment we pinch the scruff of the neck and let it go."
His opposite number Ricky Ponting said his team were "pretty proud" of what they had achieved in Christchurch.
Ponting said: "Coming here today the game was even, to think that it's over and done with now is pretty remarkable.
"It is very satisfying, I think all the guys know what we've just achieved.
"It's not just another Test match win, it's something we've done in a slightly different way."
Australia had conceded a first innings lead, albeit of one run, before New Zealand edged to 9-0 in their second innings following three days of even cricket.
But on Sunday, the Black Caps were skittled for just 131, with Shane Warne taking 5-39.
It contrasted sharply with New Zealand's first innings, when they had been 330-3 at one stage before registering 433 all out.
