Sialkot Stallions vs Faisalabad Wolves

As so many predicted the two Pre-tourney favourites have reached the final of the 20/20 cup.

Domestically these are the best two teams around and have already clashed in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2005/06 (Gold League Final) which sialkot won.

Sialkot have impressed everyone in this tourney with their array of stars and have a 100% record in whole tournemant thus far. The batting line up for sialkot is a powerful one imran nazir, Tahir mughal, qaiser abbas, shoaib malik, shezad malik, shahid yousaf and mansoor amjad are all suited to this form of the game. With the ball in hand Sialkot can rely on test bowlers rana and mo Asif. As like every other game in tourney Sialkot will start as favourites.

The oppostion Faisalabad wolves is a team with no real recognised stars but together as a team they provide most oppostion with a tough unit to beat. The batting will be lead by muhammed hafeez and Asif hussain. Muhammed salman, naveed latif and misbah ul haq provide stability in the middle order. The bowling attack has two very under-rated bowlers in sami khan and ahmed hayat who will need to bowl well against a powerful batting line up.

Faisalabad have a tough task to retain their title and were beaten heavily in group stage when two sides met last time.

i hope we get a cracking final and may the best team win. :)

Game is scheduled for 2130 Pakistani time.

Yar, khoon khaul raha hai! Lahore team ko baree be-dardee se mara hai Faislabad ne! That guy Asif Hussain looks like a butcher - Ijaz Ahmed revisiting!

I could not recognize Wahab Riaz yesterday when he was bowling for Lahore.....looks more like Zaheer Khan in real life, but on TV was looking quite fair. Disappointed by his wayward bowling though.

do you think asif hussain could make it into pakistans odi team?

what do you think about about sami khan? alongside najaf shah i think hes one of best left armers in the country.

As this is 20/20 stuff, so not reading too much into it. The major problem for bowlers apart from such a concentrated hitting context is that the fielding standards leave a lot to be desired.

Asif has to be one of the hardest hitters in Pak domestic cricket. But have to see more of him before I can say he is of Test standard. Age may not be on his side as he looks to be in mid to late 20s.

Sami Khan - haven't seen him in action yet. Always have been impressed by Najaf.

I would never judge a players selection on basis of 20/20. However asif hussain has done well in LOI matches aswell when hes player.

sami khan has bowled well in domestic 4 day games and has got no recognition at all.

ARY should have bought the rights once TenSports quit.

Not very quick.

Get's alarming bounce of a good length and has a pretty good line and length.

If he had an extra yard of pace, he could be a threat.

His action is terrible, mix between Max Walker and Paul Adams.

Sialkot and Faisalabad are the 2 teams, no reason why there should be any animosity towards either set of players from the Karachi fans.

Kick the culprits and thugs out of the stadium and restart the game.

This is not a good sign for Karachi Cricket
18:06 GMT: Play suspended
Match has stopped due to crowd disturbance
18:58 GMT: Hello and welcome back!
19:00 GMT: Not a good news, the situation is getting worst, three lights have gone off and crowd are still throwing the bottles and stones in the ground, so officials decided that there will be no more match and cup will be shared between Stallions and Wolves

I must say that I was watching the match on PTV, the crowd has been pathetic, a large number of chichora's are running on the roof and there have been several loud bangs in or near the vicinity of the stadium. There is no security to be had anywhere, poor poor organisation. There was the Deputy Nazim who came out to calm the crowd and get people off the roof, but the morons on the roof were running around even more. Unbelievable, not only are those fools putting the ir own lives at risk but also risking a collapse of the roof on thousands of others. Poor show by the Karachi crowd.

The organizers are so shambolic that they didn't even have a second cricket ball incase something happened to the first one. Even the commentators mentioned on the lack of the second ball.

When will we ever learn?

what does this have to do with the PCB? is it their fault that the Pakistani awam has the collective IQ of a dead log?

hitting Pakistani players on a Pakistani ground. bravo. we have reached a new low.

but let us not look into our own selves. let us blame the PCB as is the our proud tradition. pass the buck. pass the blame. it's always the other guy.

Who organises that???

rayhan
5th March 2006, 00:00
As I understand it from the commentators that the game has been suspended for the time being, for the following reasons:

1. sections of the crowd have hurled bottles and other materials of questionable origin at the Sialkot players,
2. a number of young jahil's have been prancing on the roof's of the stadium,
3. sections of the security fence have been ripped apart by "the crowd"
4. seats have been uprooted too.

Unbelievable performance by a section of the crowd. Hooliganism at its best. We don't deserve decent entertainment.....FINITO.

Some uncontrollable idiots running riot and ruining the good name Karachi had rightfully earned in the last couple of years as a peaceful cricket centre. Hanif etc. are at pains to convince the cricket world of Karachi deserving to have its due share of cricket, but then they should really put their house in order. Security - lack of it by the organisers have a lot to do with it. On the other hand, Lahore crowd has been simply marvellous all the way through. I remember watching a 20-20 game here last year where a Karachi team was playing Lahore Lions I think....and the crowd was cheering for Karachi folks a lot.
