Totally agree with him :-p
Wasim should keep his views to himself: Shoaib
By Our Sports Reporter
ISLAMABAD, Jan 31: Shoaib Akhtar on Monday hit back at former captain Wasim Akram and said that there was a lobby conspiring against him. "I have been made the scapegoat whenever something goes wrong," he told journalists at the Diamond Cricket Ground.
"I respect Wasim very much, he was a great bowler but his comments that I was no longer a match-winner have really hurt me; I would say that he should keep his views to himself. "If you pick up the records when Wasim was the captain, you would know who was taking most of the wickets."
Shoaib was surprised that while Wasim was so generous in his praise of India's Irfan Pathan, why could he not support and encourage his own countrymen. He dismissed as trash recent pictures in the press showing him with girls in a night club and termed it an attempt by that lobby to degrade him.
The fast bowler who returned from Australia last week after suffering a hamstring injury said that the pictures run by Star News India were picked up from the internet.
"Australia's Herald Sun did not publish them; this is an age of technology and photographs can be tampered with easily." "Every day I have fans wanting their photographs taken with me, and say if a female fan comes up to me and puts a hand around my shoulder or holds my hand in so doing, those photos too could be shown to have been taken in a night club."
He pointed out that photographs and recorded tapes did not hold good in a court of law and that he had no plans to sue anyone anyway. "No explanation has been sought from me by PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) or anyone else for they know that it has been another attempt to tarnish my image."
While saying that he was not interested in captaincy, Shoaib said that it was a matter that should be best left to the PCB. He also spoke about the Indian tour beginning this month. "It is going to be tough but I think we can win there."
"Although our team is inconsistent, a lot would depend on how the senior players fare; I don't think they'll make fast wickets in India." About the Australian tour he felt there was too much load on him as a strike bowler and that he was not getting much support from his team mates.
"I was bowling at speeds of 150km to six or seven batsmen who are all capable of putting on big scores; to win Test matches you have to have three genuine fast bowlers." "There are only two bowlers currently bowling at speeds of 150, so there is always a chance of one getting injured; no fast bowler today is playing a full series."
With so much cricket being played these days every paceman gets injured, Shoaib said. "Glen McGrath, Brett Lee, Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra and others all suffer injuries." Shoaib, who had ignored calls from coach Bob Woolmer to reduce his run-up felt that cutting down on it was not the answer. "We need to play fewer one-day matches."

Shoaib should keep HIS views to himself.
Wasim is probably the one of the most intelligent minds in cricket !!!!
His views are right on !!!

I think players who attack each other using the media deserve no respect from anyone....if you want to say something to another player, have the decency to call them directly - dont use the press to look good!

How dare he insult the Legend! he can learn a thing or two from Wasim who didnt just talk the talk. If Shoaib was half the player Wasim was then he'd be 10 times the player he is now

"Shoaib was surprised that while Wasim was so generous in his praise of India's Irfan Pathan, why could he not support and encourage his own countrymen."
One thing that has irritated me about Wasim and this is where i whole heartedly agree with Shoaib. If any of the Indian bowlers need any help particularly Zaheer Khan and Irfan Pathan, Wasim goes running but when its the Pakistan bowlers needing his expertise he needs to have a formal contract with the PCB.
I dont have a problem with him coaching the Indian bowlers and Irfan Pathan is someone who i admire greatly, but Wasim really should show the same amount of enthusiasm when it comes to coaching the Pakistani bowlers just like he does when he coaches the Indian bowlers.

As usual this guy Actor is talking a load of sh1te. look at his arrogance, his ego. he still dosent admit his mistakes so how will he learn? And look at his b/sh1te excuse about photos being tampered with. The guy has a nerve to question Wasim and talks about records but he forget that it was support of Wasim and others that also contributed a lot to his sucees aearly on his career. Wasim, Saqqy, Waqar asnd even Mahmood and Razzaq use to bowl good them days.
Wasim has a right to his views and should express them. If anybody is baghairat here its the Showboy Actor who instead of putting his hand up and being man enough to accept his mistake still denies and points finger at others. What cheek and nerve. for this reason its Actor who should keep his big big trap shut.
Do this to him: |-J |-J |-J and take that |-E and that |-J and bite him like that :?d

Shaoib needs to seriously shut his mouth and start performing on the field. Wasim aside, if Shoaib showed half the amount of commitment Rana showed today, he'd be 10 times a better bowler. And many not agree with me, but the team seems better off without him.

Im sick and tired of him saying he wasnt getting support. Why does he keep on ignoring Danish's efforts?!?! It baffles me
Also he said he wasnt interested in the captaincy. Whys that i wonder? Maybe because then he will have more responsibility and not be allowed to go to night clubs as often as he likes. If you asked someone like Rana Naveed the same question he would have probably said something like "it would be a tremendous hounour to lead Pakistan".

agree 110% with shoaib.
he is by our best bowler by milessssssssssss, his 10 overs are better then the rest of the teams 40 overs put togeher, he was also better then wasim while they were playing togeher.
if he didnt play the first 2 test matches australia would have been 500 for 0 in first innings.

Amongst other issues, he has a detrimental effect on his fellow bowlers - I'm a superstar, you guys aren't good enough. His current comments for example. This attitude seems to have bamboozled the PCB who run around after him.
The only players we should rave about are those that actually WIN matches. Taking 11 wickets in 2 lost matches where he didn't exactly bust his guts to try win the matches is okay for his figures but nothing much for the team. And sadly that's how he sees it: can't dispute my performance, too bad about the result, if needs be just slag off other players.
It's clear that without him the other bowlers try harder (even Sami gets better results) and the team gels and performs better.
Bringing him back after the last WC clearout was a huge mistake.

Right on the money! If anyone has any contact with Shoaib please convey this to him. The man just does not want to learn from and/or respect seniors.

Shoaib has every right to hit back at Wasim in this manner because Wasim's comments were very unjustified and harsh. :-*

.
Definitly dont agree. cause many time his 10 overs go for loads of runs too with no wickets. Not miles better then is he.
May have been better than Wasim during Wasim's final days in cricket but it doesnt mean anything. Shoaib will naturally become much lesser of a bowler near the end of his career as well. Thats anatural as players age and you cant compare a player starting career or in mid career to one just about to retire.
A fairer comparison would be comparing them both at their peak, their records at same point in careers etc.

Suhaib you should slap yourself for even thinking to compare Wasim with a amatuer like Akhtar! Akhtar is not a patch on the great man.
Also if pakistani players want help then they should approach Wasim like Pathan did! Wasim was happy to help the indians because they came to him AND im sure he would give tips if the pakistani youngsters go to him!

How are they justified???? If Shoaib wanted to prove Wasim wrong then he should shut up and lose weight and improve his stamina instead of attacking Wasim!

with GA on this
shoaib is not 1/10th the bowler wasim was, perhaps he should pay heed to what the great man is saying rather than talk rot and in third person as well

Shoaib is 100% wrong about this...
First of all, Wasim is one of the greatest bowlers of all time, and if he has an opinion to express, as an ex-player and a commentator it is his right... and also that the media might have come to him to ask about his opinion, and he did not go to media.
Secondly, even if you are hurt by any senior players comments, this is no way to react... you cannnot finger point to an ex-player saying "one should look at records, when Wasim was bowling... who took the wickets" on this point he was ridiculous..
I don't understand one thing, Miandad says the same thing about the team and especially Bob Woolmer all the time, and he get away free... then how is Wasim wrong in expressing his opinion.
Ridiculous reasoning for photographs... he is not even sure how to lie about this... cos he knows this is possible, but doesn't understand one thing... you can make out fakes (sometimes easily)... and the pictures looked genuine...
he is a joke for a bowler..
