Pathan starts of with a 74 mph delivery :10:, and Sreesanth starts off with 140 Ks what the hell is wrong with IRFU???????????????????///////

74MPH on these flat wickets is just NOT ONNNN, I am seeing a Ravi Shastri situation happening here. He started of as an off spinner and turned himself into a batsmen...Maybe Pathan is on his way to being a quality batsmen and drop his bowling :13: ...

18th March 2006, 11:00
Pollock started bowling in mid 70s after about a decade into his career and 300-odd Test wickets. Pathan hasn't been around for even half that time and is already suffering from decreased speed. He will get seriously hammered once the ball loses its shine if he does not up his pace.

This match is the ideal setting for Flintoff to prove a thing or two which Whippy said about him. Afridi is a man for big occasions - let's see what Freddie can do here.

It's true. This is a phenomenom that is well-documented by myself as well other well respected scientific minds.

It's not limited to just cricket however, it's probably been around a year since I last cut my hair and my footballing skills are improving with each week.

Well, that unprovoked slogan merely means the Indians there are a sorry fanatical jingoist bunch of pathetic losers, still bitter that they cannot produce a single genuine fast bowler whereas their neighbor keeps on churning them out. I reckon Munaf's medium-fast speed was shown on the screen for them to get so angry about their hopes being dashed. Pak to blame there, not their own deluded sections of media-people. :)))

After India's last tour to Pakistan (2004) when Pakistan gave royal treatment to each indian (not just the team), i remember the LOSERS chanting Pakistan Murdabad etc when Aleem Dar gave a decisoin against Indians (which was actually a CORRECT decision).

Shah hits THREE boundaries in one Patha over :D
Pathan has been taken OUT of attack :)

28.1 Pathan to Shah, no run
28.2 Pathan to Shah, no run, pitched outside leg, turned to Wsim Jaffer
at squareleg
28.3 Pathan to Shah, FOUR, overpitched, driven past the bowler and the
ball screams to the fence
28.4 Pathan to Shah, no run, on a length and shaping in slightly, goes
for a ambitious pull, misses.
28.5 Pathan to Shah, FOUR, overpitched on the leg, uses his wrists and
flicks it away past square leg
28.6 Pathan to Shah, FOUR, A! Full again, leans forward and drives
elegantly. Shah has raced to 20

He is certainly NOT nervous :

3-0 england

This Indian bowling continues to disappoint me. I watched first 3 overs in the morning before I had to leave for work. Boy, the way ball was swinging reminded me of Karachi. There was also a tinge of green on the pitch and both Karachi and Mumbai are port cities which means atmosphere would have been heavy, thus aiding both seam and swing movement. And when I come back, what do I see? 90-1. Pathetic.

Wonder what would have happened if we were batting first. Hoggard would have had a field day!!

Man, don't make such heavy statements :) Indian crowd is a bunch of immature people who don't spare their own players as well. I recently watched a Ind-SA match in India and there were a bunch of college kids in front of me who made Sehwag's life hell, who was fielding at the boundary. They were hurling all kinds of abuses at him and when I asked them to keep quiet, they said they were "doing it just for fun".

They shout slogans against not only against Pakistan but also other countries. Of course, Pakistan gives them a little bit more kick ;-) But again, its not so much hatred than immaturity. The same slogan shouting bunch will probably seek Owais Shah's autograph as well later.

Cricinfo has already found a scapegoat for England's magnificent batting display - "Dravid's decision to bowl". Sure, when the ball was swinging and seaming like crazy in the morning (and our bowlers were spraying all over), you would have loved to see Indian batting collapse against Hoggard et al. Then ofcourse, you would have another excuse - "Dravid's decision to bat". Learn to give credit (and brickbats) where its due. Good batting England. Terrible bowling, India (and Bhajji, he needs to be dropped from tests).

Terrible bowling, India (and Bhajji, he needs to be dropped from tests).
well see, india are not the only country with the same problem............of finding scapegoats...if you know what i mean ;-)

I think Indians suffer more from this disease. With the kind of money India has for cricket, one would think we will have the best team in the world. But vested interests are using that money to create unnecessary hype about some very average Indian players rather than improve upon their weakness.

His name is Murli. Used to be a good bowler in early 2000s but never got picked. And when he got picked, he became more interested in changing his hairstyle every other day. After taking 8 wickets in the Mumbai test match against Aus last year, he said "Anybody could have taken wickets on this pitch. I'd rather have a normal pitch and then take wickets". Its another story that he never took wickets on normal pitches :)

yes, you are spot on thats why they dont play more test matches and prefer playing more one dayers so they can get more revenus and advertisment time...
i remember the test series in pakistan, india didnt purchase the rights from ARy, since ARY wasnt allowing them to play their own advertisment on the coverage...talk about their being a limit to greeed............what a monopoly..now they want to play the likes of england more to squeeze more money ;-)

I hate the idea of a "par score". You dont know what the pitch is like until both teams have batted.

Granted, we were quite comfortable today but India's bowling for the most part was laughable. Englands bowling will most probably not be that. :21:

How interesting cricket is. Half strength England side are going to lose 3-0 and by an innings in every game in India according to cricket experts, yet turn up and are looking good to outplay India in 2 out of the 3 matches.

I doubt we would have been this good in India without the Pak series. It taught our young team a hell of a lot. They needed a thrashing to wake up, and without a bad day 4 evening session in Mohali, we would probably be 0-0 still now. Youve got to give credit to England for turning up half strength and often looking like a better team than a full strength Indian side.

But granted it is still 1-0 to India, and there is much work to be done for those elusive 20 wkts to level the series. If we had got 1-1 with a full strength team in India it would have been decent, but with THIS team...it would have to go down as a great achievment.

England can still level the series. aslong as they they are postive and put runs on board 1stly. If they cant get 400-450 then they have set the foundations. Batting last on here will be like batting on the moon. So england have to ensure they keep on top of indians afta a good 1st day.

I am afraid, England will lose this test - there batting in the second innings is very suspect and will falter against Kumble, leaving a smallish total for India to chase.

Unless England can put up 500+, they have no chance of winning.

Agreed India's bowling was laughable. It was swinging and seaming viciously in the morning but Indian bowlers just wasted the opportunities. Now Indian media is saying India should have batted after winning toss. They don't realize the havoc that Hoggard would have played on India if we had batted first. I suspect India is going to lose this one.

You only have to look at the first half hour to tell that if India had bowled with any consistent quality then England would have been a few wkts down at lunch, and then youve got a completely different game to this one now.

It was a good toss to lose...I would have been happy bowling or batting first. This looks like a test match that will be decided in the first day or 2.

Obviously the Indians thought they could make use of the green on the wicket, and with Cook dropping out just before the start of play, they sensed they could skittle a batting order that had been further demoralised and shuffled about so soon.

If India go on to lose this game then the decision to bowl first will possibly go down as more of a cock up than Ponting's in the Ashes.

I feel I've got to give credit where credit's due. From what I was listening to, Sreesanth and Patel bowled FIERCE. Didn't think I'd ever be hearing that from an Indian side, but well bowled :14:

It sounded like they were shaking up the batsman, mixing it with some hefty bouncers and reverse swingers. May be at last India has found semi-genuine pace to complete the make-up of their side....dangerous thought if so.

Sreesanth and Patel bowled well. But English batted really well. It was only a matter of time before classy Strauss came good in India. Even in the first 2 tests, he was fluent while he lasted.

But I can't forgive the same bowlers for not able to get a few wickets in the pre-lunch session when ball was seaming and swinging appreciably. But if it was Asif/Rana instead of Pathan/Sreesanth, things could have been different.

No doubt if Indians go onto lose this test they will claim it was fixed.

I doubt India will lose this test, and India will not say the match was fixed if they go onto lose, thats nonsense, since when have we claimed the match was fixed when Indias lost at home.

I agree that the Indian bowling was laughable today, catches dropped, Bhajji getting hit for runs, Pathan not the same, but I back India to come out strong tommorow, its a great effort by the English to come out playing good in India, would have better of they won.

Sreesanth and Patel bowled well, good knock by Struass, a very good hundred by him indeed.

Man, our Indian experts did not predict 3-0, I predicted 2-0, some of the media did predicted 3-0, but a lot of them predicted 2-0. The first test could have gone Indias way if Dravid batted a faster in the 2nd session, if only Dravid batted faster in the 2nd or last session who knows if India would have won or not, the second test India totally outplayed the English, first day of the third test Englands on top at the moment.

I just had the laugh of my life when all of English mates and a lot of our English students and Teachers at college predicted England would win a series in India, and a series in Pakistan, after they won the ashes, the english got battered by Pakistan 2-0 in the test series and 4-1 in the odi series, and now India are 1-0 up in the test series with England on top of day1 in the third test.

They were all wrong :)))

James
19th March 2006, 01:36
The fixing thing was a tongue in cheek comment :P I was poking fun at how ridiculous Dravids decision looks in relation to the current scorecard, and the kind of reasons people would make up for it if India lose.

1st test: If Dravid had batted faster he could of well got out a lot earlier, which would have exposed your middle order when there were still 200+ to get. England were just as likely to win that test as India, if we are playing a 'what if' game here.

2nd test: England were crap I know, but all they can do after a collapse is to bounce back and they have done that well.

Right now India's level of performance is below what was expected for sure, which is why 1-1 would be a quality result for England and one that is well within the realms of reality after a cracking first day for England, not without it's luck but that's cricket.

Rickz
19th March 2006, 01:36
I give credit to England, they have played good in India so far, delt the spin well, and thier new players are playing well.

Shah retired because of cramps in his hands due to the heat, something he is more prone to than most.

Strauss said after stumps that he hadnt played in hotter conditions in his career and was knackered by the evening session. He also said Shah would be ok to bat tomorrow :19:

Did Dhoni and co try to massage Shahs hand or something. I think i caught it on the highlights. Anyway did anyone else see Geraint Jones talking to somone, the guy stuck his middle finger up unaware the cameras were looking straight at them. As soon as they noticed they both started giggling like girls. :)))

Dhoni is a prat. Glovework is possibly worse than Jones.

19th March 2006, 02:27
Now that we have that cleared about Dhoni, did he actually try to massage Shahs hand?

James

For some reason i like the showdown between Munaf and KP.

19th March 2006, 03:06
Well as I dont have any live telecast Who got the better I mean between KP and Patel!!!
Is Patel Agressive by nature has he got that Flair !!!!

Uzzy
19th March 2006, 03:08
Patel is somewhat aggressive. He bowled 2 straight bouncers to him which was fun to see. A few shots later KP hooked him for a four. Overall i like the showdown between the two.

aamir_riaz
19th March 2006, 03:18
Are there any verbal exchanges or Stares or something!! That creates a contest somewhat!!!

Uzzy
19th March 2006, 03:25
Well after bowling the bouncer the crowd got behind Patal, and i guess from the adrenaline rush he gave KP a big stare.

19th March 2006, 03:36
AH thats good I was really anticipating a Very Fast Bowler for Patel but that didnt turn out Any way atleast he has the Agression thats Good We ll see how long is harbhajjan be in the team!!!

They were all wrong :)))

.......... I do certainly question the integrity of the decision to put England into bat after winning the toss....regardless of the result of thos test match. Why would you put oppostion in when;
1) There is nothing in the wicket for fast bowlers.
2) There is nothing in the weather or forecast for fast bowlers.
3) You have two spinners (700+ wickets together) who have LIVED to exploit conditions on the India wicket during 4th innings of the match.

I think, there is something fishy here! In the last 5 test matches India has batted 2nd...excluding Bombay test.
Now, if I am a betting person...I'd love to bet that Indida will bat first in this test match - hence low odds. But if you have bet a lot of money on the other side of the coin, then of course, Mr. Dravid will do whatever he ASKED to do by the bookies.

Disclaimer: it is speculation but makes a lot of sense!

97.3 Patel to Flintoff, no run, good length delivery just outside off, induces the edge, sitter for Sehwag at second slip, dropped!!

Romali_rotti
19th March 2006, 10:42
97.4 Patel to Flintoff, 1 run, even easier this time, Flintoff slices it straight to gully, as easy as it gets for Kumble, sitter in it truest sense, dropped by Kumble, one really wonders why Kumble fields at an important position like gully!!

101.6 Patel to Flintoff, SIX, short ball and Flintoff instinctively
goes after it, connects well and the ball sails down to the fine leg region, Pathan in the deep takes it cleanly but fails to stay inside the rope, close call.

Three wicket taking chances spilled....now combine this with Dravid's decision to insert England and betting odds of 7/1 for an England win...........who wouldn't have like to make money!

I am mad at Kumble and Sehwag, having dropped sitters. Poor Munaf, its not easy bowling out there where its extremely hot and humid.

Already Indians are claiming its a fixed match. We will never take responsibility for our loss, we like to blame "match-fixing", "toss", "poor captaincy", things which can never be proven.

There is nothing in it for fast bowlers? You probably haven't seen the match. Ball was swinging throughout the day but Indian bowlers had no control. Wait until India come on to bat.

No....no....no, they always get easliy proven (by the Pak team bashers, ICC and PCB) but when it comes to other teams like India.....then they are NEVER proven! ;-)
