India still the world largest chokers in ODI....I predict Pakistan to get 10 consecutive victories and 20 victories consecutively chasing.
We will do it because we have Inzi as captain, the greatest batsman in cricket history.

I think that's a little small of you to say.
India have shown by beating Pak 4-1 and Eng 5-1 that they are either the best or second-best team in the world at present. I frankly would love to see a 3 or 5 ODI series between Aus and India right now.

How many of these last 3-4 series were not played in Asia???

Also 38 out of India's last 50 ODI's have all been played in Asia.
Apart from 2 wins in Zimbabwe and 4 wins in Pakistan, the rest of India's 16 consecutive ODI wins when chasing have all been played in India!!
It will be intertesting to see how this Indian ODI team performs outside the subcontinent because at the moment they are winning matches almost purely on the basis of their batting.

Monsee this is so sad man, you have to come and start your sourness into this thread, I mean people have a go at me when I joke around but you are beyond me, you are obsessed... Well this is the Pak cricket board and you can say whatever you want, but it is not all that bad to congradulate a special achievement. Becoming quite a force to be reckoned with...
Could have quite a good world cup campaign, only big obstacle in their way is politics; i.e. should they play sachin even though he barely scores, and sourav ganguly etc...
Otherwise showing great promise, Windies conditions are not much different, picth wise to the subcontinent

England might not be the real test...
Playing against NZ, Aussies, SA, and then maybe England...on their home pitches; now that would be the Real Test!
If India comes out with even a 50/50 record, that would definitely put them amongst the top 3 ODI teams.
Good record at home and chasing even 300+ runs on these flat pitches means jack and the end result should be taken with a pinch of salt
Obviously I am being jealous according to a few in this thread :|

Here you go Mr. Smoothcriminal, an independent observation about that so-called A$$ Kicking by India
"The recent series defeat to India was seen by many as establishing their neighbours’ superiority in this form of the game but the result need not be terminal given that their 4-1 loss followed only months after Inzy’s men won 4-2 in India."

Totally agree Monsee......
India did NOT play great or even good cricket when they beat us 4-1. It was us who played "bad" cricket by letting them win! We just did not SHOW UP!!
Yes, I'll give them credit for drawing ODI sereis with RSA ......thats it! Win againg SL was against a team which is on decline and totally out of form. Even we beat them in their back yard.
Wins vs Eng are, as you know, against an extremely depleted side which was without Vaughan, Tresco, Flintoff(3 matches), Jones, Hoggardm(4 matches). These were the key Eng players who missed the ODI series. Then in first 2-3 ODI, India prepared spinning wickets...which caught Eng off-gaurd........
What and where should I give credit to?????

Exactly. Look at Dhoni, he was and is still being worshipped like a God in India for his heroics in the subcontinent on flat pitches, but the last time he played on a pitch where there was assistance for bowlers, did he score a century, did he score even a half century?
Only when he scores big on conditions and pitches, suited more for bowlers will I be convinced by Dhoni.

Yeah, welcome to modern ODI cricket. Batting wins matches more often than bowling. People want to see excitement, more runs, heck, even 400 plus is not enough these days.

I can see quite a few of the current Indian ODI batsman struggling on surfaces with more pace, and esp more bounce. It certainly holds true for Raina and Dhoni, and to a somewhat lesser extent, Yuvraj as well.

Alright, yes thats it, I am an Indian troll that loves to come on a Pakistani board. Look, if i was an indian supporter, I would come out and say it. I love my team, which is Pakistan, and I support them no matter what. Im sorry if I am objective, and congratulate other teams like India for their winning ways, i dont blindly follow cricket. I wanted Pakistan to win against India the last series as well, Im sorry if I thought India would take it 4-1, and that was the end result. Im not going to sit here and make stupid comments like "Pakistan will crush India", "India sucks", "Tendulkar is not a great batsmen". I like to be objective, just like other supporters on this board who acknowledge that RIGHT NOW, India is playing better ODI cricket than us. Yes its true they have played most of their games in Asia, but when have we have played that many games in Asia, have we won 16 straight chasing? I cannot stand it that whenever another team, especially India does anything good, excuses start, "ohh they played an inferior team", "they played all their games at home", give it a break. India have done well recently because of many reasons, one probably being GC being the coach as he is more aggresive, introduction of youngster who are performing well, and pitches that are made these days for batting.
I have never supported India, never will, but if they do well, especially in ODIs, I have no problem in saying they have a better ODI side than us. Its not just me, I am sure if you asked someone other than Pakistani or Indian, they would say the samething. Obviously if a Pakistani supporter says it, ohhh my, he must be an Indian troll.

Thats true, that they probably are all India related because I hate how everyone is so obsessed with what India does!! Did you read my post regarding the economics of cricket? I was just stating the obvious, that the Indian team is so hyped up, that even on our boards, there are so many damn posts regarding the Indians. Now where I live, I have many Indian friends, and they do not care two craps about what Pakistani cricketers are doing. I mean i remember 10 years ago, when they would know much about our team, but they are more interested in when India plays Australia, not Pakistan. I just feel like we are giving into this entire Indian media machine, on how they are economically superior than us, but no one notices, we keep talking about them, while they really dont care.

I don't know which planet you live on but I live in a college town USA and I know a lots of Indians. I have some very nice Indian friends but let me tell you.......they DO CARE about Pak team. After they beat us in WC2003, in my town and all over the net, every Indian said..."we have won our WC today"!!!

Another comment that PROVE you are an Indian TROLL...who can not prove that team Bindia is NOT a crap team.....and then he brings in "economic superiority".
I have only one question from you "Mr. Objective",....where was this "economic superiority" when Indians were Russian pets...and until USA started sending cheap labor jobs to India?
Why was not a single Miss World/Universe when you were wagging your tails at USSR feet?
I have never supported India, never will, but if they do well, especially in ODIs, have no problem in saying they have a better ODI side than us.

I have to side with Aggarwald all the way here...
I remember Pak team going to India in the late 70's and 80's and they would have these huge Billboards of Pak players on the road...
What Indians, sane followers only at that, think of Imran is not even funny...they consider him like a Mini god and we are talking about a Pakistani player (No abuse intended here...so Miggy, you can relax). I am just stating what I have seen and heard about Imran from the Indian fans!
To say that a few Indian friends of your's didn't talk about Pak team/players in front of you, does not equate to the whole population of India doing like wise!
Plus, Indians and Pakistanis, living out in the west, don't really behave in the exact same way as someone from Lahore or Mumbai would

So? You got humiliated TWICE by Aus in the most thumping of fashions. World record after world record in the Final. Must have been quite a damp squib, that.
Heck, the first Pool match, Aus knocked off the runs with approx. 30 overs to spare and with one wicket down, and we all know what lashing your fav Punter put on your team beating them blue in that Final?
Monsee is right. The real test would be away from these flat tracks and onto other pitches of the world. At the moment, India are doing fine, but you can bet your bottom dollar, come a Series in Aus, NZ, SA or in England, they will be back to their usual defeated selves. ;-)

......but when have we have played that many games in Asia, have we won 16 straight chasing?
OK Troll.....you asked for comparison...you got comparison;
Here is team India's and Pak's ODI record in 2000s;
P W L T n/r win%
India: 2000s 191 101 84 0 6 55%
Pakistan: 2000s 190 109 78 0 3 58%
Even AFTER your "great" 16 win streak, you are still BELOW Pak!
Now, let talk about winning streaks;
Here is Paksitan's top two yearly win/loss record in ODIs;
1990 21 16 5 0 0 76%
1994 28 20 7 1 0 73%
Here is India's top two yearly win/loss record in ODIs;
1994 25 16 8 0 1 67%
1993 18 11 6 1 0 64%
India has this record going on for 2006, which will change as they play more matches;
2006 11 9 2 0 0 82%
See, how we are USED to streaks and wining while you guy get a decent streak in ages and strat jumping up and down!
.......and who says "chasing and winning" better than just plain "winning"? You can take your "chasing" streak and put is where.... well, you know what I mean!
......
I cannot stand it that whenever another team, especially India does anything good, excuses start, "ohh they played an inferior team", "they played all their games at home", give it a break.
Let me get you a little more upset by posting these 4 points from another forum;
1) Beating a declining (totally out of form) SL team at home? Big deal! We beat the same side in their back yard!
2) Drawn series vs RSA - you can see how they were trashed by Aus. They did not even make to Tri-series final in Aus. SL qualified ahead of them!
3) Beating a totally depleted Eng side at home/hot coditions?
Even Zimbabwe could be this Eng side with out their TOP 4/5 players.
4) You did not beat Pakistan 4-1. Pakistan beat themsleves. Pakistan played badly - not that Ind played great cricket. Yes, Dhoni and Yuvraj played great but it was Pakistan who lost the series - not that India won it! You remember what happened in Karachi test when Pak played to its potential!

OK Troll.....you asked for comparison...you got comparison;
Here is team India's and Pak's ODI record in 2000s;
P W L T n/r win%
India: 2000s 191 101 84 0 6 55%
Pakistan: 2000s 190 109 78 0 3 58%
Even AFTER your "great" 16 win streak, you are still BELOW Pak!
Now, let talk about winning streaks;
Here is Paksitan's top two yearly win/loss record in ODIs;
1990 21 16 5 0 0 76%
1994 28 20 7 1 0 73%
Here is India's top two yearly win/loss record in ODIs;
1994 25 16 8 0 1 67%
1993 18 11 6 1 0 64%
India has this record going on for 2006, which will change as they play more matches;
Let me get you a little more upset by posting these 4 points from another forum;

You don't need to explain. They massacred you TWICE in the same '03 tournament. We lost the Final to them but beat Aus in Headingley in that '99 WC Pool match. I was there, and that happens to be the best match I've ever witnessed.
And before you start your familiar rant about 4 WC wins over us, may I need to remind you of the overall all-time record in India, in Pak and in neutral venues between your country and mine??
We have even defeated you in your backyard in both your commemorative tournaments / events - Nehru Cup '89 and BCCI Platinum Jubilee match '04! Does not get any better and sweeter than that. :30:

These days most ODI pitches are flat, the recent exception being Pak in Sri Lanka.
The highest scoring match ever was just recently played in SA.
I think India have a very good ODI team. All of you comparing stats in the 2000s and overall records, come on, that's no indication of current form whatsoever.
On current form, India is a very good ODI team, just as Pak was a very good ODI team last year. Pak has dipped a bit since then, only beating England 3-2 and losing to India 4-1.
Pak has a chance to rectify that soon against India, but people should accept that India has performed very well recently - well enough to be considered right up there with the Aus ODI team.

You lecture everyone about how we cannot judge on the basis of this and that and yet conveniently forget that Pak lost the last ODI game against England 'only after the series was already secured' and we rested a few players and the game had lost all meaning for most of us!
All I am saying YET Again, for the 1000th time, Until India played outside Asia against the top teams i.e. Aussies, SA, NZ at home and even England in England, this hyping up of team India as the 2nd Best ODI team and that of Maajha Singh, Laloo Parsad, and Bharuch Rickshaw is a bit over the top!

Well, some very childish posts here.
We beat England and we starting saying that we're 2nd best after Aus. But when Ind defeated Eng, its unfair to say that its not a big deal. Btw when did we did anything noticeable outside the subcontinent. After winning the odi's nicely, we struggle against a truly pathetic team called the West Indies. So, really we shd first look at ourselves.
As much as we HATE to admit, and i have to say that i would have rather not written this post, but very honestly India is playing extremely well right now. Gotta give credit where due. The main thing is that their young players are coming good and thats always a good thing for any team. Esp Yuvraj who i think has established himself as a top notch odi player with 3 player of teh series awards.
Its on us now to step up an beat team india. We shd also be strong enough to appreciate when other teams do well. Coz if we cant do that then we're nothing short of being pathetic.

India are without doubt enjoying a great period of ODI dominance - good news for Indian fans is that it comes close ( well about a year to go ) before the WC so I would expect hopes of lifting the cup are extremely high !
Pak have some work to do to get their ODI form back on line - some work already done with SL tour and some work to be done in England ( and in Abu Dhabi as well )

Our loss to India was the only loss we have had in quite some time in ODIs. I dont think there is THAT much more we need to do, fielding probably is one area we can improve though. Overall, we are in good form a year out from the WC too.

Why don't you in fact show something from this thread that says 'Pak ODI' team is better than India's...
What most here have said is that on the back of wins in Asia, on their favorite flat wickets...it is quite immature and stupid to say they are the 2nd Best Team. They need to beat SA, NZ, Lanka, and even England in Enland to even make that claim!
In fact India's away record is so pathetic, in ODIs (We know how good it is in Tests anyway :D ) that they have never ever won an ODI series against NZ in NZ!

I can see quite a few of the current Indian ODI batsman struggling on surfaces with more pace, and esp more bounce. It certainly holds true for Raina and Dhoni, and to a somewhat lesser extent, Yuvraj as well.
So u r trying to say that Shoaib Akhtar didnt had pace and bounce in Faisalabad test when Dhoni smashed him for six and fours, and he got frustrated to such a extent that Akhtar ended up throwing a beemer. Good ignoring job.And like Pakistan batsmen are so good on pacy wickets.Well get ready for a reality check in England this time.Im sure Younis Khan and Malik , Farhat are going to be a faliure there. Also, How can we rubbish a performance of another team when we haven't been outstanding ourselves?? Thats just hypocrisy. They played well against England, infact very well and thus won. Simple. I would have rather seen England win but there performances have been dropping ever since the Ashes.
In any case, I see you and some other PPers are just mad coz India won. I personally dont care what Ind does, I just dont like seeing them winning too many game/series coz that gives 'em positive momentum before they play us in a series. But I do have the heart to give 'em credit.
They have some outstanding young players. And Chappell is doing a fine job with them. Have the heart to give the credit where due, that is, India is developing into a top notch one day outfit and that is largely due to the development of their younger players.
Pak has done well off late as well and I would like to think that india odi series was just a minor blip. The onus is on our youngsters to continue on the path of progess and not ditch all the lessons they learned along the way like Salman, Afridi, Rana did in the last couple of months.
A little off topic but i felt like saying all that...

Just as a sidenote, 5-1 is indeed a nice scoreline. The last time I recall India participated in such a Series was in this Series (click for link) (http://www.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/1980S/1986-87/PAK_IN_IND/) . To top it, the pesky visitors also happened to beat the hosts in the Test Series that accompanied those ODIs.
