in a matter of fact these days its much safer to eat kosher then to eat halal (as most of the halal meat ant halal, people i know have agreed one way or the other that halal meat costs them more money) , with kosher you can be rest assured its 110% kosher costs more money though!

One thing I don't understand.
I thought whe you killed an animal you had to bleed it to death hence you'd say that there should be no blood in the meat.
Whenever I buy meat from butchers (halal, obviousily) there is always blood in the meat which you have to wash properly.
kosher meat is only allowed when halal meat is unavailable

times are a changing - i actually think there is a small number of places that are "halal"
Kosher meat is permissible to Muslims. Its possibley more 'halal' than 'halal' meat itself!!
Unfortunately many Muslim meat suppliers are quite unscrupulous when it comes to providing us unsuspecting punters with meat.
As for the draining of the blood - of course there will be blood remaining on the carcass! The main thing is the that the blood is slaughtered in accordance to Islam, and involving no stunning of the animal.
Sure we have to clean the meat before we cook/prepare it!

its not haraam.. we can eat kosher
got this from a website and have heard it before too:
Slaughtering the animal has to be done in the following manner:
1) The animal has to face Quibla (Fard)
2) The person slaughtering has to be a Muslim (Fard)
3) The person slaughtering has to recite Bismillah (Fard)
4) Blood flowing out of the animal has to be left to take its natural
course until the animal's body is empty of blood (Fard)
5) Make the animal drink some water before slaughtering (Recommended)
6)Do not let the animal see the knife or implement used for slaughtering
(Recommended)
7) Use a sharp knife or implement for slaughtering (Recommended)

but even if you leave the Qibla part out... points 2, 3 and 4 would still make kosher haraam, no?

if a non-muslim recites bismillah, does it have no value?

stop asking questions like z10 :P
bismillah might have value but still the guy has to be muslim... thats one of the requirements...
i dont know the related hadith(s) would be great if someone who knew posted them...

strictly speaking , if halal food is available then no other alternative is acceptable. if none , which in todays day and age is highly unlikely , then even a pig can be consumed. it all boils down to intentions.
regarding kosher food, well orthodox kosher food is almost consistant with the muslim practices. but liberal jews, its a new americanised brand of jews, well their defination of kosher is , they have a huge chunk of cut meat, a priest comes , prays something on the food, and the food becomes legit, even that is passed as kosher, that is basically the saying of bismillah practice as adopted by some muslim brothers.
aah well , to each their own .

in muslim slaughter houses do they recite bismillah before slaughtering each animal? i doubt it considering the amount of labour that would be required.
Qibla?

im pretty sure they do say Bismillah b4 slaughtering, in slaughter houses, they have alot of slaughterers and they just have people in a line whoi just say bismillah and cut the neck and it moves on to other people to make pieces....
wouldnt know about pakistan, but i've seen the slaughter houses in Saudia.

there is a mega difference of opinions. I have some friends who will not eat Kosher at all. Then there are others who say Kosher is ok too. And finally we have those who will eat anything and everything, pork excluded ofcourse. I am the second category. Its another thing that Kosher meat is generally not found where I live but when I went to the East coast I believe I did eat at the cart of one of those bearded Jews.

I hear (cant personally verify this) some slaughterhouses play a tape of the kalima and non-muslims do the the slaughtering
The best option is probably DIY SLAUGHTERING :19:

Yep, I've heard that too and there is always a chance that the chicken or whatever might 'miss' the kalima when its being slaughtered if you get what i mean.

its tough...i think its okay to eat kosher if you can't find halal anywhere at all...but i probably wouldn't eat it if i had other options available...

Ive heard that too. Apparantly one of the halal distributers has a tape playing and the chicken is slaughtered mechanically. Dont know how true that is though.. SO i suppose Geordie has the best solution
