he is definatly struggling for form in these last matches and he is most definatly way overrated.
he made a good centry against india and that is way he has been really overrated. he played poor before that match and he had a poor test series against aus apart from the centry and now after a 60 in first match he is making low scores again.
he must be droped and toufeeq umer should come in.

I agree, he needs to be kicked out right away!!!
Definitely over rated since he has only scored a test century against Australia.
Farhat should replace him!!

Like I said before, for once our batting looks solid and all the young batsmen should be persisted with.
Our bowling seems be the problem, need a couple of quickies in place of Rao and Khalil.

Bowling is a serious worry really

With Sami and Shoaib to return and hopefully Malik to get cleared, we have a stable team for the next WC.
Salman Butt
Kamran Akmal
Shoaib Malik
Inzamam
Yousuf Youhana
Younis Khan
Abdul Razzaq
Shahid Afridi
Rana Naveed
Mohammed Sami
Shoaib Akhtar
I like the look of this team!

Do we have anyone better?
NO!
Give me an unfit Shoaib and Sami over Khalil and Rao anyday.
I dont rate Shabbir or Gul.
maybe Ali Imran Pasha should be groomed.

Salman definately needs to work on couple of things and hopefully BW will take him to the nets and work on his leg side shots. Left handers are usually very strong off their legs but Salman is very weak there and also needs to work on his pull shot. To me he has already proved that he belongs with the team it is time for the management to back him as well.

not sure about who muddy but akhtar seriously wont be fit enough til then, id be surprised if he doesnt retire
sami, yar personally havent seen khalil in odis but not sure how good sami is either. unless he grows a brain we're doomed
i wouldnt mind grooming ali now

I cant believe some of the people here! The boy has had a wonderful series in Australia where he outperformed most of our seniors in the tests!!!! You dont get a century and a fifty in back to back tests v the aussies w/o having some class!!! Butt saab is only 20 y/o - if we groom him he will surely become a great player Inshallah. Every player looses form and I am sure he will recover his touch.....ameen!

yes he isn't great in the leg side, not a perfect puller but he isn't as bad as he looked against WI. He was just out of form

Can't believe some of you guys!
Salman has shown a lot of promise and he'll improve with time. The best looking opener we've had in a while...performed well under pressure. Let's at least give him a decent run...

We Pakistanis must be the stupidest people in the world. A 20 year old scores 1 century and 1 fifty in his first away series (that too in Australia against McGrath, Gillespie and Warne). And while he hasnt been doing too well in the ODIs, he still has a 50, and looks to be a real player for the future. And we want to drop him? Would India drop Irfan Pathan?

Salman should finish the VB series for us. That is the only way to give him a decent workout ahead of the tour in India.
There is a little question mark about his catching but that should improve with confidence - I cant believe that he doesnt know how to catch a ball !!
In other words - no panic - continue with Salman and Akmal, win the VB series, go home and reassess options then.

Salmana is one of our recent finds and will be a future star for many years..Inshallah. He is a great find for Pakistan and saying he should be dropped is ludicrous just because he hasn't scored heavily in recent ODI's. The guy is 18 and on his first full tour. Give the bacha a chance as all players get out of form and cant score a 50 in each innings. If we go by this criteria of dropping players because of a couple of average games then we wont have no team left.
Anyway, I think Salman has done good and nothing major to worry about over few average games.

Salman butt is 20 has talent he showed that on this tour ! We need to persist with him ! he has it to score runs against the best
I back him all the way...
Its not easy on you r first tour to OZZ yet he scored a brilliant 100 and a couple of 50ties...

I think there is no need to panic. In my openion he has been asked to change his style. Inzi has a game plan at this moment, just like the one Imran had in '92 world cup. I think the plan is to preserve the wickets for first 25 overs and then attack in last 25. It seems to be working for the team, but, when you look at Salman individually he may be having some problem in adjusting himself.

I dont know if he's 18 or 20..lol but whichever he's young and on his first full tour.

Offcourse his fielding needs to be improved but tell me which Pak player dosent need to improve on fielding. Mostly all of them need to improve and do the basics right. Salman can not be questioned as much in comparison to senior players. These seniors have had much more practicse and experience in fielding and catching and should have got it right by now. They havent as u all know.
I agree with Merc who said to me that this has always been in our history as poor fielders etc..it's oyr cricket culture from grass roots that need to be changed and looked at. Only then will new debutants etc be better fielders.

That is very true, however i would put in Butt in the group of players like hafeez, farhat, nazir, umar, malik etc.... Basically young batsmen, this group i reckon are expected to be good fielders. Most of them are with the exception of Butt, however i do believe he will improve in time. Fielding is something that can be easily improved as oppose to batting and bowling.

I don't agree with Akmal opening though. Use him in the middle order and open with Hameed or Taufeeq alongside Butt.
Partly the problem with Butt at the moment is that bowlers know where not to bowl to him. For Mcgrath and co. outside the offstump is the usual line but they have realized that Butt is strong through the off side. Thus, a lot of balls are bowled on the middle/leg line with a short one here and there. He needs work on his legside play but that will come with time and patience, this is the very problem of our weak domestic setup.

well akmal has played better then butt in this tournament so we shoudlnt drop him.

i think we should give salman a rest for the first vb final game coz he does look alot tired. coz the next 4 or 5 months is gonna be rather busy and a rest here and their aint gonna do any harm to him
