Schiller
17th March 2005, 09:39
harbi to yy, ball hits the pad then the arm and a catch taken. everyone appeals confidently and bucknor very very rightly called it not out. it could easily have been given out but a brilliant call.
indian crowd as always went meowing ;-)

He saved his best...for India.
I agree that was great decision. I was half hoping YoYo had nicked it and in Tendulkar style, refused to budge.!

U shud read the thread on bucknor on bhartarmy forum
1.i feel certain he'll look to mark this landmark with yet another blind performance to the detriment of Team India!
2.Our luck doesn't get any better.
No doubt our bowlers will now get done for further excessive appealing crimes - Bucknor is never going to give us any decisions.
3.This is terrible news, Blind Bucknor certainly wont do us any favours thats for sure. I can Hear him know when Bhaji or Anil appeal :-

Yeah, besides pathan being given out wrongly (though it was very tight) he hasnt made a single error besides! One of the greatest umpires ever, for crickets sake i hope he goes on forever.

Kaneria was having a laugh with him the day b4 yesterday, mayb thats y he gave it our way.(might have not liked Pathans perm bcos he himself has an Afro)

begging and pleading only infuriates umpires I'm afraid. There have been occasions in the past where the likes of Saqi and Mushy suffered due to "overappealing" with umpires not giving them blatant "outs".
Kumble and co. have not done themselves any favours with their dramatics.

Kumble's wholly negative tactics (bowling around the wicket-and poitching it outside leg stump)...and then appealing.
The guy is better than that, but umpires seldom forget.
Danish was pretty bad last year but credit to him for sorting it out.

That was out solid snake. I wonder if you watched it or not, but shastri or manjreker whoever was commenting at that moment, started to cry, but it was rightly pointed out by Amir that Pathan had nicked it..
after hitting the pad the ball was goin towards gully region but then it hit the bat and went to silly mid-off where Yk took it. it was OUT
pathan was OUT. i am surprised he acted the way he did after being given out. as if it was a horribly bad decision. but I probably shouldnt be. he has shown his true colors before when he tried to pick a fight with yoyo and then tried some bouncers at Inzi. funny how he often ends up at the losing end!

He was brilliant in his decisions today. I was covinced that youhana was out but that notout desicion was the best decision of the series so far.
Good to see some close desicions finally going in Pakistan's way.

The Indians are complaining about ONE decision that they feel went against them and that too of a batsman who probably would have only lasted a few more balls. Us Pakistanis have had many decisions go against us recently and its about time we get some our way. Bucknor and Taufal are the best umpires for Pakistan. If them two were umpiring for us every match, we'd never lose!

Bucknor is to the Indians what Rudi is to us.

India favorite umpire is David Shepard who aginst Pakistan atleast maked 2 to 3 unfair calls every match .... 2nd can be considered as Rudi ... Pakistans Fav is Steve Butnor ... but overall ALEEM is exceptional..

Brilliant umpiring by Bucknor (including tendy decision :-D :oD). All umpires make mistakes now and then and I was really happy to see tendy cry off the field because the guy deserved it, especially after being given not out twice in the series when he was out.
Ravi Shastri the ex-indian test player was commentating at the time and I really appreciated his honesty and fairness. He said umpires have a tough job and sachin was lucky in mohali when he was clear out and not given and held his ground. Here he was not out but had to go, and these things ususally even themselves out.

Yeah David was Plump I think he didnt give him out because he had given tendulkar out...
So now the INdians cant complanit..
If u look it overall many dicition has gone Indians way... INzamam, yoyo our most important batsman...... so umpiring never favour Pakistani guys

Khalil to Dravid was plumb, but it would be an injustice for a legend to be out to someone like Khalil.

Looking from the replay above I am not sure if Dravid was plumb afterall. It's hard to tell if the ball pitched in line or outside leg stump. People may tell me to get glasses but it dosent seem clear cut to me. Looks 50:50 with most likley it did pitch in line.

I am amazed at how badly they behave on ICF.
I know on the odd occasion on this MB things can get out of hand, but having seen their MB, it is a lot worse.
When it comes to umpiring decisons, 'What comes around, goes around'.
The Sachin decision was wrong, but he was lucky in the first test and got away with it. There isn't an umpire that is perfect, although it was quite amusing because there was daylight between bat and ball.

I was sent an email last night with links to some threads on ICF. What I saw shocked and disgusted me. The links included so much threads abusing and insulting Pakistan, muslims, bucknor and even there own ganguly.
It's so sick the type of personal swears and hatred there and more disturbing that the mods there are aparty to it. The mods there are disgusting for supporting this disgusting hatred and not taking any action by warning, deleting or banning those posters.
Instead of banning and warning them abusive racist posters, the mods ban and warn those simply portesting (but not abused once). I have been banned becasue i politley asked them why they are calling people mader**** etc and what happens I get banned.
IT shows how sick ICF is.
More shocking and sad is that Sports network are taking no action and let it continue.

Well I don't want to or intend to post on that MB. I just now and then go on there to see their views, which is a waste of time really.
Luck is just part of the game. It is not just umpiring decisions. One batsman may play and miss many deliveries, or edge them into gaps, whilst another may edge one delivery and be dismissed. But nobody gets too pumped about that because there is no one to blame. With incorrect umpiring decisions though, it becomes easy to target the umpire and so people get into a big huff about it.
At any rate I think people need to remember batsman by and large do not walk, and many players appeal when they know it is not out. If players are willing to try their luck, then they must accept the conseqences of their actions, i.e. they must accept the rough with the smooth. And so too must fans. I think there is a bit too much whining about umpiring decisions.
