which indians bowling figures were those?

kablooee87

Listen, I can't stand the Indian team as much as the next guy, but you have to open your eyes here. I don't care if the pitch was perfect. To score that many runs at that kind of pace is something that has to be comended.

Afridi would have scored 786 runs in a day himself and would have hit 100 huge, huge sixes. Then he would have dismissed the opposition out within two overs. We all know that he is well capable of this but just lacks a slight bit of consistency. But it will happen whenever he feels like it

Weren't they just about to drop sehwag. If THEY don't have faith in him to perform on a CONSISTENT basis, what chance has he got with us. Give Raza as many tests and we'll talk.

I'm not saying that he is all that and that he plays consistent or anything. I'm just saying, it's only right acknowledge the great innings that he played.

Superb, destructive innings.

One of the best, Sehwag.

Sehwag's innings may have been good but this is one of the flattest pancakes ive ever seen. The commentators described it best that the green tinge is a lie and the pitch has had a bad haircut. Takes a good effort to do that kind of innings so :14: anyways

I agree with that. It was a good pitch but it's still a great innings.

It was indeed a great innings... however we'll have to put it in context once we see W.I. bat specifically Lara. It could end up being another "flat track bully" performance.

great innings by Sehwag. kudos to him.

ECB
11th June 2006, 05:32
Actually, its not that flat as it seems

Good experienced bowlers would have got Sehwag and co in trouble actually, Sehwag made it look pretty easy thus all the kudos to him. If anyone watched few overs after lunch would agree. Ball was swinging and bounced just short of length

But we shall find out when the Windies bat, or maybe the pitched would have eased out till then

All in all, decent knock

It was a good knock by sehwag and its also a good omen for the west indies.

9 out of the previous 11 tons from sehwag have come in games been drawn or lost by india. Only 2 have come in match winning causes!

St lucia has only hosted 2 test matches previous but they have been a run feast as far as batsmen go. both games drawn.

2003 - sri lanka 354 (attapatu 118) & 126/0 v west indies 477/9 (lara 209 hinds 113)

2004 - Bangladesh 416 (bashar 113, rafique 111) & 271/9 (mashud 103) v west indies 352 (gayle 141) & 113/0

its pretty much a batsmen paradise...!

ah do not get disheartened boy... if we can wrap the windies up before the last session on day three, we will either win this or the windies might scrape another draw.

dude i have a strong inclination that gayle will fail in the first inning. i think with a big total, indian bowlers suddenly seem invigorated enough to bowl something challenging enough to be called bowling. and suddenly flat tracks too are potent enough for them. happened before in england in 2002-2003 where following a massive first inning total, we managed to dismiss england twice in less than three days on a benign pitch.

This game will be another high scoring draw.

both teams have tailor made batting for such dead tracks in west indies, add to that the pop gun bowling attacks and as i predicted before this series it will be a high scoring slug feast!

Rana

agree with AJ, india's bowling is gonna have to be at its top to win this match,

otherwise i can say Sarwan, Gayle or Lara will be scoring double centurys!

Contrary to what a lot of ppl think it's not a flat track. There are loads of green patches ... ball has started reverse swinging and there is invariable bounce. To Sehwag's credit he did not let other bowlers settle down to any rhythm. Later, Pedro Collins utilized the conditions well and I think it was a very special effort by Sehwag to score 180 off just 190 balls.

WI bowled vry poorly to him mostly feeding to his strength esecially in the first session....anyways wen shewag gets a huge score most pitches look flat...another interesing thing is he has converted 8 of his 12 ton's into 150+ scores..thats an awesome conversion rate!

actually kaif is a rather skillful player who has been in poor form lately, but i admire the team management for sticking with the poor bloke and his confidence has really blossomed thanks to the three 50s he got in the ODIs.

But, but but, woah woah woah hold your horses man!!! Dhoni scored 9 off 34, therefore it was a seaming track, the ball was swinging all over the place. It just cannot be a good pitch to bat on if Dhoni scored 9 off 34!!

not particularly. but our bowling unlike some others is often so invigorated by a first inning total of sizeable proportions that they graduate from pie throwers (with the exception of kumble) to nightmarish bullies.

wishfull thinking man ,,u can think whatever u want but u cant deny the truth & that is afridi has not done anything close to 180-190 in Tests so far .Let alone 786 etc

But shewag has delivered as usual another destructive innings ,top class proformer he is . :19:

In 24 tests, Afridi has got 5 hundreds and 8 fifties. Shewag, in 46 tests, has had 11 hundreds and 11 fifties. Shewag, however, has far higher average. Afridi averages 39 while Shewag averages 51.......however Afrido is a far better fielder and his bowling is much more useful.

As for Afridi not coming close to 180.....he actually made 156 a few months back which isn't too far off 180. It wasn't a fluke either because he has done similar before (141, also against India in front of a hostile Chennai crowd on a pitch that was starting to cause trouble......without that innings we would have almost certainly lost the game)
