View Full Version : Shoaib's Absence a Blessing?

I must say before I write anything that I used to be a fan of Shoaib Akhtar. After his sub-par performance in the second innings of the tests and lackluster activity in the one dayers, I'm not too sad to see him return to Pakistan.
I've also noticed that the team is playing more cohesively as of late. They have managed to beat Australia (in Australia!) and get of rid of the West Indies as well to get into the Finals. Does anyone else think that maybe Shoaib's presence/attitude/hype was bringing everyone else down?

Of coarse it's a blessing. Shoaib is a liability

we have struggled to get to the final, if shoaib was playing we would have easily got there.

The reason we were struggling was because we are a) playing the World Champions and b) playing against an in-form West Indian Team. It's not like we're playing Bangladesh or Zimbabwe.

and...
IF he was fully fit...
IF he got along with the captain and his teammates...
IF the field was set to his liking...
IF the batsmen werent well set...
IF he had more support...
IF everyone was not criticizing him...
IF the media wasnt out to get him...
IF he didnt have so many off field commitments...
I can keep going forever with these If's but the bottom line is they will always exist! The man is a walking talking excuse!

K man the team with Shoaib was a bundle of problems with one more good player. Without him we have one less player...granted. BUT we have a team which comes together so nicely...u can just see how supportive every player is out there

Well said. Shoaib is a disgrace and pathetic...adding too that:

IF he's not too busy dancing, womanising and drinking etc...
IF not too busy fighting...
IF Not too busy bragging about himself and singing his own praises....
IFnot too busy looking in the mirror and his eyes for hours...(must be mental or just lying out of his Ar$e as usal)...
If not too busy romancing with himself as the guy's in love with himself...
IF he's not too busy doing commercials and getting rich...
IF.....
IF......

could go on for ever but sod him.
