Inzi, moyo and asif are been rested.
These games are basically are for fringe players to claim a place in side.
2 from 3 openers.
afridi or faisal iqbal
also s nazir/gul/sami fighting for maybe 2 seamer spots.
But it doesn't make sense for inzi to be rested, he hasn't played in england 4 years, surley he has 2 get used to the conditions.
Asif ok, played for leicester, but inzi needs to be playing...........

whats with all the whinging? for god sake pakistan has another warm up match yet. The team is trying to work out a few final postions in team.
yet all thread is full of is why no inzi, why no razzaq.
please use some commonsense!
am sure moyo/inzi will play against england "A"
i think bw is resting the main guys and playing the ppl who are either fighting for spots or have little experience playing in england.

Sami and Gul open the bowling and get a wicket each.
Guessing by the team selection it seems that Razzaq will definitely play in the first test with Sami, Gul and Nazir being given the chance to claim the last pace spot.
I think it was good to leave out Inzi and give Iqbal some batting time as he may be needed during the tour to strengthen our batting.
Bit disappointed that Razzaq doesn’t have to fight for his spot like the other 3.
Will be interesting to see how well the Malik, Farhat and Butt do, wonder who will be given the task of facing the new ball?

Already! We should have went with 4 seamers and had Afridi and Malik as spin options, it would have been good to give them both extended spells.
I dont think it would have done any harm to leave out Danish Kaneria for this match because he already has a lot of experience in these condtitions, and there is another match against England A anyway.

Here is the Cricinfo bulletin for day one.
Leicestershire v Pakistan, three-day tour match
Mongia makes hay on sunny day
Cricinfo staff
July 1, 2006
Pakistanis 14 for 0 trail Leicestershire 315 for 9 dec (Mongia 129*) by 301 runs
What with Sri Lanka busily flaying England's bowlers to all parts to complete a most-miserable 5-0 series defeat, oh, and the football too, there's not been much to cheer about if you're an England fan. And now another team from the subcontinent has arrived who have every chance of further dampening morale: Pakistan.
When their bowlers made early inroads into Leicestershire's line-up on the first day of this three-day tour match, any spirits lifted by the sun were soon dampened. But then came a splendid fourth-wicket partnership of 174 to reignite the good mood.
True, one of the dynamic duo wasn't English, Dinesh Mongia, but his century will certainly have helped the English mood. John Sadler will be pleased with his 92, but he fell on the stroke of tea to a return catch by Imran Farhat, eight short of his ton.
Mohammad Sami bowled well all day, but particularly in the evening when he removed Tim New (5) and Claude Henderson (0) in quick succession. Then came Leicestershire's declaration on 315 for 9, leaving Mongia on 129 not out, although he was fast running out of partners anyway.
Then it was the turn of Pakistan's batsmen to have a warm-up. Salman Butt and Imran Farhat had time just to have a quick dart before stumps, but will be looking forward to getting their eye in on Sunday.
Nice to read that Sami bowled well all day. P.S. here is the link

Maybe the hiarcut makes a difference afterall?
Sami bowled well today, good on him.

1st July 2006, 18:42
well a reasonable first day play by Pak. Sami seems to be bowling reasonabley well
However both spinners were off, why does it seem like the majority of time danesh kaneria needs to bowl long spells to take a few wickets against county opposition. He should be bowling teams out with his ability. or is he overated????
Danish Kaneria 25 6 83 2
If you look at Warne and Mushie(Im not saying he should be in the team ahead of Danesh ) they seem to do very well on the county circuit. Whereas Danesh just seems to be average.
Am I being too harsh? or do others feel the same?
Amjid Javed
1st July 2006, 18:43
Kaneria is a good bowler at best, my worry is he tends to conceed alot of runs before taking most of his wickets. I think he will need to improve that fact in this series.

Dani will do well imo on this tour
Yup Freedi was there and had a decent fan following. He kept his distance from them in the morning session but as the day wore on, he was more willing to sign autographs.
One funny incident, we were stood at the square leg boundary waiting for afridi's autographs and everytime he came close to the ropes to sign various memorabilia, a group of about 5 girls started screaming. On about 4th or 5th time, he snapped:
"Tum larkiyan ho kay churailain, cheekhna band nahin karteen"
Everybody started cheering Afridi, it was hillarious.

Waqar Younis was quite rude and pushed away several young autograph hunters. Inzi on the other hand preferred to stay indoors and even when he went to the nets, he went through the field where no spectators were allowed as did Razzi for that matter.
Malik and Sami were the most willing to give out autographs.

Looking forward to good day with the bat for Pakistan now. Would like to see these two (Farhat and Butt) spend the time in the middle.
Apparently Sami cleaned up the tail - how fast / well did he bowl ? ( on a sluggish pitch according to BW on SkySports )

Mohammad Sami bowled well all day, but particularly in the evening when he removed Tim New (5) and Claude Henderson (0) in quick succession.
Sami haters will be [Edit by Mods: Easy Mian !] come the test series..wait and see

Woolmer - satisfactory start.
WOOLMER SATISFIED WITH PAKISTAN START
Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer declared himself satisfied with the tourists' performance at Grace Road on the first day of their England tour.
Leicestershire made 315 for nine declared after being put in to bat but Woolmer said: "I thought it went pretty well for us.
"The seamers bowled well and so did the spinners and they all worked hard on what was a sluggish pitch.
"I thought we played some good cricket and although the Lord's pitch will be nothing like this one, it was good for the bowlers to get as many overs as they did under their belts.
"We have been practising for two weeks in Pakistan in preparation for the tour and now it is a case of getting used to the conditions and settling into the rhythm of a tour.
"I feel we are well prepared and the fact that we beat England in Pakistan in the winter will have no bearing on this tour.
"I know that England have some injury problems but as far as I am concerned, I am not going to worry about what happens in their camp. We have just got to concentrate on our game."
Commenting on Rana Naved-Ul-Hasan's chances of being fit for the first Test, Woolmer said: "We are still waiting for tests and Rana has still not been ruled out or ruled in."
I wonder how fast Sami was bowling, I hope he's back to bowling 90+.
Commenting on Rana Naved-Ul-Hasan's chances of being fit for the first Test, Woolmer said: "We are still waiting for tests and Rana has still not been ruled out or ruled in."
It would be such a boost to have him FIT and playing.

why is with us Pakistanis we dont get any commentary on BBC. When it was sri lanka playing county opposition it was working very well.
Also when we do get commentary, we get people who either dont know anything about the game, biased towards Scotland or cant commentate to save their lives.
Even cricinfo is PATHETICALLY slow on their updates.
ANY SOLUTIONS??????????
