Australian broadcaster Channel 9 were flooded with complaints during the Australia versus Pakistan match, due to the bizarre antics of Tony Greig.

Tony, the South African/English/Aussie former cricketer was his usual brash self for most of the game, dismissing Pakistans chances, criticising the touring teams players, but then when he realised that Pakistan may win the match, his volume became lower and lower and lower, until those watching the game had to turn their tv sets to maximum volume to hear anything.

Fellow commentators confirmed that rumours about Tony bursting into tears when the winning runs were scored were true and also confirmed that Tony Greig would not go home at the end of the match until the Pakistan team and Abdul Razzaq in particular apologised to Tony. :-D :-D

:oD :oD Funny

But Tony is a good commentator andis not anti-pak. What Tony Greig thought, about Pak having no chance was a reasonable inference after Pak's performance against Aussies on tour, their defeat by Windies in previous game and that Aussie look unbeatable. Furthermore Pak team has been struggling with injuries and no out and out strike bowler.

SO what wrong did Greig say??? Many Pakistanis said and thought the same too and it was a reasonable prediction.

Tony Greig is also the man who wrote the 'foreward' in 'Cutting Edge, My Autobiography' where he sings the praises of Javed Miandad.

Sometimes old people react in different ways - I mean take the example of Richie Benaud - slightest chance of praising a Pakistani - and outcomes nonsense babble about another collectors item for sale in 10,000 EASY instalments of $10,000 each ! :-D :-D

Something I love about Bill Lawry is that he can appreciate the opponent with equal intensity...Afreedi goes bang…is an example.

Tony Greig is fine when it comes to commentating in 'neutral' games. When it comes to Australia, however, he at times struggles to look at it objectively. Perhaps his Australianness or the lack of it comes to the fore and he tends to lack enthusiasm when the opposition does well. That was very much on show in our game against Australia and the first time I noticed it was in the 99 world cup round game. The excitement in his voice was absent once we neared victory in Perth, hopefully it will happen twice more in the next week.
