Schiller
2nd February 2005, 00:13
ha ha
is mirpuri different?

heres a thought, i think accents tell a lot about the grp/nation of people that use it.
It could be a good tool to judge a nation and general characteristics perhaps.

just like tone of a person gives you an idea of the kind of person he is

catwoman

I personally really strongly dislike bhangra or the songs that go with it! It's probably because of the stupid remix songs that are shown on TV - asian dudes trying to look/act cool but just sound terrible!

Jay Sean aka K...............Singh is brilliant. Stolen is one of the best songs I have ever heard.
Though I dont think Varsha-ji likes him for that reason! Raghav says he is a mix of desi and Scottish music. riiiiiiiiiight.................

A rather surprising fact is that he is VERY popular amongst desi girls here. If you have any gig with him coming, it's a sell-out

Sage
5th February 2005, 00:22
Not very surprising actually.

Most desi girls are complete idiots.

Why is this board so slow all the sudden?

Umar:
Well figure out what she's studying and if you have time, research it a little. The most important thing about approaching women you don't really know, is figuring out their personality type. For this, you need an icebreaker conversation to get their guard down and get them comfortable talking to you. Some women like to have their egos stroked, some like to be seduced by a charmer, some like their man to be in total control.

I'm sure you don't need all this advice, but may be of some help for our younger members.

"Why is this board so slow all the sudden? "

yar server issues, they try to do maintenance and what not. the thing is they were one of the better ones, offering quite a bit of bandwidth and all .

im sure hitman and maybe the ever starved good young GA could learn a bit from that. the thing is I know a bit about her and could also perhaps chart her personality out
the problem is how do i begin the thinggy, its not as easy as it sounds. and I guess i am rusty now. i have been trying to get coffee the same time she does so theres some proximity but the darned fool doesnt drink coffee and make no mistake you can see shes horny from a mile

Schiller
6th February 2005, 17:41

Schiller
6th February 2005, 17:45
not to mention that she has an ass you could die in ;-)

Sage
6th February 2005, 17:47
you can try all sorts of stuff

something i did, though i'm not proud of, but the girl was definitely worth it:

one day, just followed her around to see her schedule

then two days later (we had an alternating day scheduling system), i "conveniently" ran into her

i didn't really know her well enough to start talking comfortably, but i made sure i had a funny story to share, very rehearsed and expertly relayed, to break the ice

if thats a bit too deviant for you :oD then just go up to her table and unzip your fly

she'll get the idea

Schiller
6th February 2005, 17:49
:oD :oD

after unzipping, i could always say im revealing my real self to you :oD

so basically you suggest I stalk her
ha ha
i like that idea
shes almost the kind, whom youd want to bed but not a whole lot more and i think she wants just that too.

Sage
6th February 2005, 17:52
if you think she wants that, then be very direct
probably not as direct as the unzipping, but very forward nonetheless

don't doubt yourself

Schiller
6th February 2005, 17:54
doubt has never been an issue, in this case, getting the rt opening line is going to be one, she doesnt look like she will have any clue about artsy fartsy stuff or even anything intelligent. doesnt look like she can take humor either
now if I met her in a bar that would be excellent, just the kind to pick from a bar. difficult to hold a conv with her i suspect. again she does look tired at times and perhaps one could always say how fresh she looks ;-)

Sage
6th February 2005, 18:03
You're asking for a pickup line?
Well don't ask me, I've used some in the past that I've thought were clever and gotten smacked for 'em.

Used one in an elevator, we were smiling at each other. Don't even remember the line but it certainly could've been misconstrued as offensive. Actually, it didn't even need to be misconstrued. She walked backwards into a corner, opened her purse, and took out her mace spray and pointed at me for the rest of the ride. While I'm standing there laughing my ass off. The worst part was we were both headed to the same apartment for a party. But at least she didnt cockblock me, just avoided me.

Schiller
6th February 2005, 19:31
a pick up line of sorts perhaps
but pickup lines are tricky
because they can backfire when you think you got the perfect one

Sage
6th February 2005, 19:34
Try to be too clever, and they will backfire. Most women are offended by wit, because they don't know how else to react to it.

Schiller
6th February 2005, 19:35
very astute observation wasay
most women prefer the moronic type simply cause they know they can twist and tango, the witty ones, they realise their inferiority the meoment you speak

6th February 2005, 22:59

I know ;-)

Keep the convo going. Pretty educational :-D

6th February 2005, 23:04
Umar. as Sage says you can always be more direct ;-)

I'm really not good at chat-up lines hence I don't try. I just ease the girl into conversation and talk about whatever she wants to. Once she starts becoming comfortable around you then it's time to act.
I'm still new at the game but as they say 'Practice makes you perfect' ;-)

Muzy
6th February 2005, 23:28
lol chat up lines dont work unless the girls got a cheese brain... why dont u just complement her looks her hair gals jus love the attention no fake stuff but then again jus try the old book fall thing u see her in da library get a pile of books maybe the ones that she would no about and purposely fall or bump into her - oh and try not to hit her while u do this lol den take it from there.... it might work u no...

Schiller
7th February 2005, 12:34
the lot of you really dont want me to get anywhere do ya, one is syaing, i unzip or stalk, the other is saying be damn direct, the third is saying I bump into her
marvellous marvellous, i think ill just use good ol self deprecating humor and see where it takes me
girls like a guy generally who can make a joke about himself

varsha

catwoman
9th February 2005, 16:16
I am anything but religious :-D

Sage
9th February 2005, 17:01
We know that all too well Mona.

I go back and forth, but overall I'm very secular-minded.

varsha
9th February 2005, 17:41
I don't understand what religious is though! Is it praying to god all the time? Is it visiting holy places? Is it believing in god? Someone define religious and I'll answer it

catwoman
9th February 2005, 17:52
I go back and forth too. However days I have almost no interest in religion and hardly practice and at times find it hard to believe in God. |-K

I suspect thats one youll have to get from Amazon waisay, another book that you would enjoy is Nietzsche's Thus Spake Zarathustra. now thats a hoot too

also, if you can get a hold of Plato's Symposium, youd love it. its the one where the debate is about Love.

but i am apprehensive of saying anytihng 'intellectual' now

Oh yeah. Definitely. Well, in Pakistan I'd have less freedom and obviousily less to do in social terms (you know what I mean) hence I would probably be a better muslim. Also, for example, most of my friends, actually all but one are non-muslim and the environment takes its toll. I do hope to be a better muslim in the future. Wish me luck. I'll need LOADS of it

I don't think living in Pak or the west has a major impact on one's religious abilities. Those who are religious will practice regardless of where they live, those who aren't won't.

I don't think I would have been religious had I lived in Pakistan. I have my own beliefs and attitude towards religion and others can't change it easily. I have many Pakistani friends as well as non-Pakistani ones too, some are religious and some aren't but I don't get influenced by them or anyone else. I like doing what I want and am not the sort of person who will conform.

I feel really uncomfortable with mullahs or wannabe mullahs. I feel as if they are imposing Islam on me. That is the reason I don't get along too well with a lot of my cousins. My dad's side of the family think that they are religous, well they think they are anyways. Like they are almost forcing me to come to the mosque to pray (verbally ofcourse) but I don't want to go cos I feel that then I'd only be praying because they said so. I don't feel that connection with God.

About social freedom in Pakistan, it was hard to comeby cos I was a teenager without too much resourses. Here, I am a teenager but everything is so readily available I just tend to go the wrong way.

1. if you look/stare she would make eye contact or smile back (not always sure shot but worth a try)

I am, i think everyone indulges in a bit of day dreaming, some more than others BUT i think its a good escape for ppl. can make them happy for a moment or so!

Regarding religion, im really in the middle! Religion defines a lot of my life and what i do, say i wouldnt touch, sell or have anything to do with Alcohol,Drugs etc etc. I wont rip anyone off ( i have a guilty concious |-F )
BUT i do listen to music, watch films etc etc!

most of the ppl i used to hang out with when i was say 14/15 smoke, do drugs, think the idea of fun is driving around in their cars and blasting music etc etc BUT i fortunately avoided all that.
my main affiliation with religion started when i went on jamaat when i was 16, i enjoyed it, i went a few more times and i found it useful BUT lately i have been put off them, its probably more to do with the individuals than say the concept of tabligh! they visited me the other day and i didnt invite them in, so i spoke to them from the doorstep, hoping cos it was cold that they wont talk as long (i was a tad ashamed of that later like though i was quite impressed with how effective it was :-D :-D :-D )

Family usually has the biggest impact on a person. If you are born into a religious family, chances are, you will be religious too. Country, in my opinion, doesn't make you what you are, atleast in my case. I am not religious because my family isn't. It was nothing to do with Canada, which is actually one of the world's most culturally diverse countries and no one is stopping you from practicing your culture/religion. If I lived in Pakistan, I would have been just the way I am right now because I don't conform at all and my thoughts, ideas, beliefs towards life are determined by who I am, not where I am from. :-)

mona,

firstly you were too young then and secondly environment includes the parental element.
and so you cannot discount it at all. in many ways we are a product of our environment, one way or another.
the non religious environment adds to you not following in its own way

interesting pt by V there and that usually occurs at times cause the parents think that they have to keep a tighter control on the kids so they dont become more westernised and keep their original roots intact

Schiller
11th February 2005, 15:06
also in many cases the family is not religious but the outside environment sort of propagates you towards religion. ofcourse its a double egded sword

"About my 'friend'. All those signs are positive but I'm still not sure. Maybe I'm not confident enough or I'm thinking that there is too much to lose if I make a move and it turns out I was wrong. "

Generally you can tell when you get those vibes, by the looks of it, i would say you have a chance in hell for sure
but move lightly go for a date without the tag of a date, imply it ;-)

The environment has the most impact on how you'll turn out. So Mona, I know your very set in your ways, but there's no way you would've turned out the same if you lived in Pakistan.

Then again, most people I know in Pakistan are more f'ed up than I am. Its more of a rebellion against their hypocrite parents.
