View Full Version : Defending the Indefensible - ICC on HAIR!

MIG

Malcolm Speed continues to defend Hair on Sky News -

He finds nothing sinister in Hairs offer, he doesnt see anything strange in his offer to take money to resign and yield his "principled" position ! He doesnt even feel strange that he withdrew his offer when told that the PCB would hear about it !

Is there anything more that Hair and his cronies can do to harm International Cricket ?

What makes Speed untouchable in the ICC, of the very few who are supporting Hair on this issue , is it a wonder that one who matters and who is , is an australian himself.

Speed's conduct has been a total disgrace. Given his position, he should have been impartial, instead he has consistently supported Hair, as if he was totally innocent of any wrong-doing.

inzi isnt even accused of ball tampering , biggest qs to ask is, why would a batsman tamper with a ball in a dead rubber?

To test your swearing filter at home:

1. Place picture of Hair in front
2. Shout as many swear words as possible ( as loudly as possible)
3. put pic back in a safe place for later use
4. Relax and take normal position in front of PC
5. Continue typing regular polite messages on PP !

i am skeptical.the media in this country are just wolves who will jump at any chance at ruining pakistan's image.

It would have been released by now. The very fact that they are charging inzi shows that they have no evidence of any pak player cheating.

still we can wait and see but don't hold your breath

Speed and the ICC's behavioue has been a complete disgrace throughout this whole affair.

Hair is allowed to switch his principles on and off ut Inzi isn't allowed to have any?

Hair was under stress but Inzi wasn't?

MIG
25th August 2006, 17:03
Did Hair and ICC only talk in emails ? What else was said ? This has to be the worst cover up in the history of Cricket ! Who will police the policeman ? PCB must demand an independent inquiry into the inner workings of the ICC.

Why does the email start with "firm up what we talked about" ....was this discussed and agreed between Doug and then Malcolm overturned it ?

Malocm Speed said; "He was seeking to find a solution that was in the interests of the game."

So, he was asking for $500K in the interests of the game. Alright!

What respect will have when he steps on the cricket field next time...if he ever does??

Percy Sonn was just on Sky Sports and he did say that Hair's position may be untenable as a consequence of his actions.

Billy - I understand that but they are the main defenders of Hairs honour - they should burn if he does !

MIG.....another way to look at it is.......
The reason ICC keeps defending him is becuase they are his employers. You know, in this day and age, employers have to be extra careful and extreamly politically correct about they say about their emplyees....otherwise anything said can be held against the employers.

I think, until we see the END of this whole saga, I am willing to give ICC a benefit of doubt.

Having said that.......I think, ICC deserves what they are getting. When Pakistan asked them not to appoint Hair; why did they?

Plus, we may have just seen the START of a huge drama/saga or whatever you want to call it. I am sure, Hair is NOT going to let it die/finish/end pretty soon. Hair will keep it alive for the sake of his book, paid tv/paper/magazine interview and other money making ventures. I'll be shocked if Hair goes out quitely!

I agree, there might be something much bigger that is trying to be covered up, why would Hair send an email ransom/blackmail note if he had nothing to blackmail, maybe he was asked to make sure England won(thus hyping up the Ashes once again--Australian connection) and when he did something without evidence, he probably knew there wasn't much backing even in the ICC and thus he sent this letter, this is going to get really messy

Speed has also said today, in respect of there being no vidoe evidence of ball tampering:

"The jails would be empty if we had to rely on video evidence to prove any crime."

It seems to be clear that Speed thinks Pakistan are guilty and Hair innocent. It is disgraceful to see Speed - given his position as chief executive - making such public pronouncements.

On numerous occassions he has defended Hair. Never has he defended Pakistan.

Do the other members of the ICC have any powar so that they can remove him from the ICC aswell? That way two incompetent officials would be removed and Cricket would be a much better sport. Looneys like Speed have had the game in their contrtol far too long I think!

yeah and he seems to forget that no where in the world will he find 26 cameras point in every direction. he has made a stupid comment :12: obviously you cant find video evidence for every crime but this "crime" took place in an area with 26 cameras at all angles. :10: :29: theyre trying to wriggle out of this

can someone find the dancing thread? celebration time, come on!

if Hair had any credible evidence he wouldn't have tried to back out with that compensation demand. if Malcolm Speed had any credible evidence, he wouldn't have entertained such discussions with Hair nor would he have released the emails to the public. The ICC don't want to look like the bad guys anymore and they have conveniently put the spotlight on Hair. It would've been very easy to find Inzi guilty and shifted all the blame on Pakistan, but I guess they know themselves that won't be possible.

Isn't this great? on the one hand we have our captain fighting for the honour of his mates, willing to be suspended on their behalf just as long as they're not labelled cheats, while on the other we have a money hungry beghairat.

I am wondering why Speed made Hair's e-mail public when it was meant to be confidential.

It has been reported.....

ICC/Speed HAD to show this e-mail to PCB since PCB is a party in this row which could go to the courts. Now, when ICC was advised to share it with PCB, they thought it woulod be better to make it public via Speed than leaking it through PCB.

MediumPacer
25th August 2006, 21:08
good point. I guess it was a compulsion then. Lawyers must have advised him (speed) to save his own back. And then he tries to put a positive spin on the whole affair to apologetically butter-up Hair. This is now turning into a Soap.

KB
25th August 2006, 21:18
Another thing is that annoys me about Speed is, that he defends Hair's actions on the grounds that it was a difficult time for him.

Well when Hair accused Pakistan of tampering with the ball, it was a difficult time for Inzamam. So is Speed going to issue a statement defending Inzamam's refusal to come out after tea?

Even now we see double standards.

The media needs to focus more on Malcolm Speed. He has been partial and before any inquiry has been conducted he had made it clear whom he thinks is the villain. As the cheif executive he needed to be dispassionate and impartial.

Speed should consider his position, and if he is unwilling than others should call for him to resign.

iafzal
25th August 2006, 21:42
Not sure what Hair was thinking writing this letter, being a ex-lawyer he should be aware of the implications. I guess he counted on Speed not to reveal it to public. He may have considered him more on his side then he really is. Speed had no choice but to go public as he cannot risk it being discovered later, just imagine what that would be like for ICC and cricket... Speed is just trying to save his on hide in this saga.
