Pak are next due for a test series in 2012 (doesnt include any ODI tournaments etc).
I think next year, the Indian fans will be 100% organised in the way they purchase tkts - and watch their support levels.
Must hand it to them.

what's the point in coming over just for tests?! They must be playing ODI's.

I meant they arent due until 2012 - but that doesnt take into account any other tournaments (eg Tri-series etc) which may mean they return a couple of times in the meantime....

It's a disgrace that Pakistan are only touring England for a Test series once in 6 years.
The Windies are coming in 2007 - they last came for a 4 match series in 2004. That's only 3 years!

Just looking at the Future Tours Programme (FTP), in 2008, Pakistan look set to play only 3 Tests - at home against Australia in February and March.
Overall the FTP has Pakistan playing 53-54 Tests, whilst the England, India and Australia will play over 70. Even the West Indies are due to play 67.
After the South African tour early next year, Pakistan's next Test series outside Asia is due in November 2009 - to Australia.
And the FTP which goes up to the 2011/12 season does not have Pakistan touring England for Tests again. So the next earliest time that Pakistan are likely to play a Test in England is 2012 (edited).
None of the above, though, seems to bother the PCB. They seem content for Pakistan to be treated as second class citizens in comparison to Australia, England, India and the West Indies.

I agree with a lot of what you say but the FTP does not go to 2012 for the English season and although it hasn't been confirmed it should be Pakistan touring then (I'm hoping Zimbabwe remain outside the test fold and we get their tests when they're due to tour England next but we shouldn't be living off scraps).
Again there is scope for more tests to be arranged - this represents the minimum number of series so i'd expect us to play more than 54 tests but why they can't be confirmed now like other countries have done so is beyond me.

Looking at it in more detail the things that really annoy:
1. We tour South Africa in Jan 2007 but South Africa tour Pak twice before we get to visit South Africa again;
2. When South Africa tour Pak next they are only playing 2 tests
3. When we tour West Indies in 2011 we only get 2 tests. India tour West Indies just before us and get 4 tests.
We should tell SA and WI - its 3 tests minimum or sod off. Of course that will not happen.

Very good post. We play the fewest amount of Tests - while teams ranked as low as the Windies play around 10 Tests more than us!

you'd expect a tour of England every 4/5 years. Our recent tours have been
1996
2001 - a 5 yr gap but we were insulted with only 2 tests
2006 - fair enough 4 tests makes up for 2001
but then we wait another 6 years!!!!
Compare this to other countries touring England -
Aus 2005 and 2009 - 4 yrs but fair enough as its a tradition
Bang 2005 and 2010 - 5 yrs
India tour in 2007 and 2011 - a wait of 4 yrs
NZ 2004 and 2008 - 4 yrs
South Africa - 2003 and 2008 - 5 yrs
SL - 2006 and 2011 - 5 yrs
West Indies 2004, 2007 and 2010 - a wait of 3 yrs!!!
Zim 2003 and 2009 - 6 yrs
Money does talk but don't tell me that we're only bigger box office than Zimbabwe!!!!
If the ECB did it properly the order would be:
Year 1 - Aus and Bang
Year 2 - WI and SA
Year 3 - NZ and SL
Year 4 - Ind and Pak (if its money that counts imagine the box office appeal of a Pak-Eng-Ind ODI tri-series)
Not included Zim as they no longer play tests.
My rant is directed at the PCB - they are just weak and pathetic. My biggest bugbear has been the lack of tests we've played over the years and the number of joke 2 test series they've agreed to against Eng, NZ, SL, SA and WI in the past 5 years as though we're minnows like Zim and Bang and their bending over backwards to accomodate other countries misguided fears over certain venues in Pakistan.

and worst of all there is not one test at Edgbaston. That's a disgrace as far as i'm concerned. England's best ground in terms of results and probably the 3rd best ground in the country. I cannot believe the ECB have prefered The Riverside.

haha i missed the "R". Though actually Edgbaston is in the West Midlands, not Warwickshire.

It's a joke, though giving the Riverside a test here and there against crap like Bangladesh or the Windies at least stops them begging so much for fixtures involving touring sides of actual quality.
England and India are 2 of the world's top test teams at the moment and just recently conetsted an entertaining and closely-fought series, so they shouldn't be taking a back seat to a West Indies tour. Good point about Edgbaston as well.

Like they say, you only way you can get help is by helping yourself. The moment Pakistan win the 07 World Cup the tour to WI will include 4 tests instead of 2 and the rest of the countries will follow the same pattern...

its all politics and cash. England only played 3 tests in India so India will only play 3 in England. The Indian board insisted on 7 moneyspinning odis in India so England decided to milk the same cash cow. India won't play 20/20 because they fear they will undermine the more lucrative odis so England still keep two 20/20s in the calendar but play them both against Windies.
The fans feelings don't enter the equation.

one result of PCB's passiveness to the international schedule is the tragedy that Moyo has now reached the age of 32 but only played in 70 odd tests in the best part of a decade.
