Talat Ali, Pakistan's new manager, is determined to instill improved discipline with the national side and will urge the players to respect umpires.

Ali, who is a former ICC match referee, replaced Zaheer Abbas, the manager on the recent tour to England which included the controversial Oval Test that was abandoned on the fourth day. The Pakistan team refused to resume play after tea after being penalised five runs for ball tampering and Inzamam faces an ICC disciplinary hearing, in London, on September 27 and 28.

"I will tell the players to follow the Code of Conduct and respect the umpires," Ali told Reuters. "Even if there are some bad decisions leave it up to the management to handle these things."

"My job is to work closely with the players. To give them the right advice," Ali continued. "If there are any complaints over the umpiring the ICC has a laid down procedure to file reports.

"In my experience as a match referee, I know that it never pays to resent an umpire's decision. Players can vent their anger and anguish in the official reports - not on the field."

Before anyone jumps on his statements, i think he said the right thing. If our management had done a better job at the oval, had a proactive manager, we might have avoided the situation. Talat knows the law (being an ICC match referee), so i believe that its a good appointment.

If Talat is taking a cheap shot at Zaheer or the boys....then he forgot that SK was there well and alive and I am sure he was calling the shots!!!!!!!!!

This new Tala guy looks like Muppet to me. Maybe a sucker of ICC! Its easy to make above comments when your not involved in the management part.

This guy doesn't know the difference between saving the countries respect and losing.

And as far as Zaheer abbas story goes, I felt SK pushed onto one side and thought "We'll I'm the chairman so i should speak to the media", Instead Zaheer should have done so on the first place.

subhan Allah some one agrees with my way of thinking. Inzy and the boys defended their dignity and pride rather then playing on and allowing one biased individual dictate the proceedings.
