This guy is totally out of form, even country batsmen are scoring runs for fun against him
remember this is the same bowler who used to run through county sides.....may Allah help him

He looked a bowler short on confidence in the ODI series.
He needs a few wickets in his opening spells to get his confidence up. He is proven to be a good bowler, form is only temporary.

Agreed,he is not in top form at all he has got to get in shape by taking a few wickets and boost his confidence! Rana trys too many things he should stick to one ball.

Sussex would have been better off with Arafat. However Naved's contract stipulated he would return after Intl duties.

I think its more then just form. Even in the ODI series it seemed to me Rana was not completing his action. His jump was not as prominent as it used to be (pre-injury) and he used to get his left foot across which he was not doing. I am not sure and its mere speculation on my part but when a bowler is not completing his action it could be because of two reasons:
a) He is not fit
b) His injury is still in the back of his head and he does not want to put pressure on his groin.

Daoud,
Don't you mean a great friend of the opposition cricket team is no more? ;-)

That is more accurate.
But as I said, to Rana's defense on this matter there have been some huge scores throughout England, so pitches are pretty dead by now. ALthough that does put Mushy's performance in perspective

It is true, late spring/early summer is where you often get movement for the seamers in England. By September a lot of the wickets are dead and dry and if they respond to anything consistently, it is spin. There's a reason we play our tests over here from May to early September, and no longer than that!

Rana is usleless he might take wkts once in a blue moon after conceding 100 runs in 10 overs. He is no longer a bowler he used to be time to drop him after India CT if he does not deliver. His last chance to redeem himslef.

This happens with a lot of Pakistani players. They perform over a relatively short period of time say 12 months to a 2 years and then their form dips so badly that they eventually slide out of the scene. Rana was looking a promising ODI player at least since the 2004/05 VB series but since the recent England ODI series it looks like the begining of the end for him. I sincerely hope its not but past evidence does not support my wish.
Razzaq had a couple of great years after the 1999 world cup especially in ODIs averaging 22 at one stage. He then had an excellent test series against the Windies in Sharjah and the talk was Razzaq was going ot become a genuine test bowler yet after his stint with Middlesex he has completely disintegrated as a bowler.
Sami over a short period after the 2003 WC bowled superbly and during the NZ ODI series in NZ he just lost the plot and the rest is history. Another player who had a premature end to his career was Saqlain. Looked good for a few years and when everyone thought he was reaching his peak he just fell away just prior to the 2003 WC. You could tell during the 2002/03 SA tour that he was finished when Gibbs and co plundered him in the 1st test of that tour. After that it he had to be axed from the team.

Second Season Syndrome kicking in?
Complacency plays a major part.

If it was complacency then that would suggest that when/if they got back to doing the hard work they would arrest the decline but that hasn't/didnt happen.
