I cannot believe what Van Persie has just missed. About 10 yards out just right of the penalty spot in acres of space and he's fired it way, way over the bar.

1-0 Arsenal at half time and it's a great game to watch. Arsenal have paid some beautiful football with slick movement around the pitch. Fabregas, Rosicky and Van Persie have all been livewires in the field having several decent chances. The goal scored was typical Arsenal. A sublime cross from the wing by Eboue met with a perfect header from Henry across the goal and into the bottom corner. More goals expected.

i dont think there will be any problems because unlike leeds we dont have problems with the turks.. we loved it the last time we were there and loved it when we played them last time.. infact if you go to turkey and say salams and they are more hospitable.. i dont forsee a problem..

im not surprised by the english fans making monkey noises.. they have a racist element in them..

this just shows you have not been to an english ground in years.. The problem of overt racism like making noises which are derogatory is minimal and probably the best in Europe.. Id say the Turks along with Spanish and Eastern Europeans have a far bigger problems..

as for turks not being a race.. look up the definition of race and definition of nationality..

elland road - as far as i recall is an english ground !

yes the monkey noises have decreased since i first started going in the 70's when it was a common sight to see grown men bringing bananas to the ground specifically to throw at the black players

BUT i'm not naieve enough to think that racism has dissapperad in england - i recall walking to anfield from lime street and people shouting "p a k i" at me from passing busses

as for race - from dictionary.com:

a group of persons related by common descent or heredity

a group of tribes or peoples forming an ethnic stock

any people united by common history, language, cultural traits, etc.

so hopefully this will answer your earlier question:

whats racist about diving turkish ****

Let him explain where he came up with that conclusion, however dodgy it may be

Also, if you (madaboutlfc )think saying disparaging remarks about Turks isnt racist cause they arent a race, wouldnt that mean someone on the street calling you a ******* P@ki isnt racist either as we arent a race?

P*Ki is considered a racist term and theres a difference between whats said in the heat off the moment and something with vindictiveness. Theres another factor where the person addressed is of turkish and is being abused for an act he carries out..
theres another matter of the fact that calling a turk turkish is not similar to calling a pakistani p@ki..
