Hope to see Shahid Nazir bowl - lets see what all this hype is about.

This will also be an important match for Butt- if he does poorly again Malik should be given a shot as opener.

What hype?

He is a swing bowler who can keep it tight.

I personally want to raw bowlers to come in to the team who are these WAHAB RIAZ and MUHAMMAD IRSHAD.

Muddaser
29th March 2005, 10:11
Wahab Riaz is NOT international material.

Averaging 40 in the league and cant even swing it back into the right handers.

What hype?

He is a swing bowler who can keep it tight.

The hype which certain people were creating by crucifying Woolmer about not taking Nazir. After all that hype we'll be expecting Waqar Mach I, Woolmer was called every name under the sun by some people for Nazir's omission.

Lets see how he does ;)+

Hafeezs bowling reallys isn't that bad- but if your going to play in a Pak ODI squad as a spinner- you had better be able to contribute with the bat- and that is where the real question mark is about Hafeez.

mumtaz
30th March 2005, 05:03
lets say he has potential to do something with the bat on some day and the day he does that would be a bonus, otherwise he can continue with his offspinners until malik's action is cleared.

Bailan
30th March 2005, 05:03
he is a very decent bowler and probably even a decent batsman .... but he definetly dosen't belong #4 position, where he has been played of the late ...

may be if comes down the order to stabalize the situation if Razzaq and Afridi had gotten out in a quick succession ..

Sorry my post wasnt to say that we cant criticise this guy - lets face it he is average and there may well be better players than him but I think he will do well in India as Indian bowling at the moment isnt anything special ( opp for more humble pie eating !!)

Fact is after Bangalore, we are all so careful about making pronouncements on peoples skills etc - maybe we need a health dose of AJ to get things right here !!!

mumtaz
30th March 2005, 05:12
i think he is going to be quite successful as a bowler(expect him to go for less than 40 in his 10), not much as a batter.

34.3 Shahid Nazir to Powar, one run, full length ball on the legs,

From cricinfos description Nazir is moving the ball late and getting bounce, maybe he is as good as we think he is

mumtaz
30th March 2005, 05:51
well there is no vacancy in the team at the moment. rao deserves his place and has to be considered ahead of him for the time being.

nazir has to wait until one of rana, sami or rao performs real bad or is injured.

Imy
30th March 2005, 05:53
true unless some body performs badly you cant justify replacing them look at brett lee now he cant get in to the test side.

mumtaz
30th March 2005, 06:01
btw i think pakistanis are not playing this game seriously at all, otherwise the way hafeez and arshad have bowled, at least one spinner should have been bowling now. pakistanis just want to give everyone bowling practice. not saying that i have any problems with that, though.

Imy

I think someone remarked in the test series that Akmal is a little suspect keeping against pace bowling - hopefully ( and seeing the commitment he has shown before ) , he will work on this - he is a great prospect for Pak and we must persist with him.

mumtaz
30th March 2005, 06:06

"vivid detail" - heheh

I was being sarcastic.

Anyway- based on cricinfo guy- Rana and Nazir both were threatening.
Hafeez, Rao and Arshad were very economical and Danish and Razzaq got smacked around.

IMO BW will go with Sami, Rana, Nazir, Hafeez, Razzaq and Afridi in a 6 man bowling attack.

30th March 2005, 07:01
I really hope Nazir gets a chance. he seems very threatening particulatly in the middle overs. Rao might miss out because he is good with the new ball and we already have two good new ball bowlers.

7.1 Bose to Salman Butt, FOUR, pitched up on the legs, glanced to the
fine leg fence -about time salman.

It really seems like salman has too much pressure on him - BW and Inzi should tell him to just go out there and play his natural game and not worry about his future in the squad.

30th March 2005, 07:37
Yaar - let the coach and cap work on their strategy - they want to get good quality nets - then this is a good idea - both players need to get a good feel of the bat and ball so thats what they are doing.

Nawazb
30th March 2005, 07:42
i hope hafeez does well today because we need a 6 th bowling option in odis

161
30th March 2005, 07:45
well the way the cricinfo guy is describing how many times they have gotten beaten and played mistimed shots - i am not at all feeling confident about these two.

Yes it would be great if these two can develop into a good opening pair, but a series versus our archrivals is not the time and place to experiment.

Naz
30th March 2005, 07:51
If you notice commentary from cricinfo, every single time hafeez is on strike its either: play and miss, ball beats the edge, beaten!, mistimed drived, bad leave as ball nearly hit stumps, beaten!, edge to third man for a single.

This guy is a usless batsman but his bowling is economical, maybe he should play at numer 9 or something

Yaar - let the coach and cap work on their strategy - they want to get good quality nets - then this is a good idea - both players need to get a good feel of the bat and ball so thats what they are doing.

This is how Hafeez bats period. No strategies involved. The domestic season ended not long ago thus he would be in practise. If you have any doubts kindly check his one day strike rate.

can u see the differences between malik and hafeez
malik and butt Current Partnership: 23 runs, 3.2 overs, RR: 6.90

Last Wicket: 47/1 (16.3 ov); Partnership RR: 2.85
Mohammad Hafeez run out (Patel) 11 (47b 1x4 0x6) SR: 23.40
hafeez is a really defensive player who can't even hit the ball even kamran akmal is better than him

alghazzali

Imagine if they started off like this, Maliks now releasing the pressure of Butt and hes ticking the scoreboard aswell, they would have been gud instead of cleaning up Hafeez' mess.
