See the thing is dragon lovers lose sight of the fact that it's a fantastic creature with glistening scales, magnificent wings and power of flight but it should be admired from distance ..one or two rides is sometimes all it takes to turn a sensible guy or gal into a wannabe dragonrider.. and I think we can agree that dragon riders are no more.. ;)

Ohh 100%. The first ride is the best with wind in your hair and the glorious sun shining down on you, it's rapture absoloute, nothing can come close to it......but hence the dragon riders always try to reach the same height again ..and again...and again.... never quite accomplishing what they preceive to be perfection and the holy grail of experiences in flight.. ofcourse me and you understand that perfection is illusory and although we can pursue it with ardour we know we will never quite get there..

not sure if you would know (though i think you might)
but why has raw dragon not the one that has been tailored, gone out of the scene?
In my opinion there are a few reasons. One that things are cyclical, fashion plays a big role in the kind of dragon people prefer to ride.. Secondly accessibility, certainly the refined, treated and trained dragons are more easily accessible globally speaking and thirdly alot of people who fear to fly believe wrongly that the raw untrained baby dragons to be just as dangerous and adrenalin inducing as the refined variety and hence they stay away from all dragons preferring less majectic alternatives of travel.
Now if you were in the business of raising and training dragons, making them accessible to global markets then the rates of return and net profitability on the fully trained variety compared with the raw would almost always mean that you would spend a little more time and train the dragons because the profit to cost of training ratio would be exponentially higher.. Demand and supply.
I must remind you though that true dragon riders only ride the refined and trained variety and the ones who do dabble with the raw dragons tend not to get much notice or exposure... ;)
Schiller

Indeed but really they were not true dragon riders in my opininion if they rode the raw ones...now jimi hendrix was a true dragon rider ;) but like I said it is a cyclical thing and also remember that just cause some famous gpersonality rode a particular kind of dragon should'nt necessarily influenec our choice of dragon.. that's totally inappropriate IMO and sheep like..where is that spirit of adventure..this is a very individual thing..walking on grass is fairly popular, I agree but it dumbs people down rather than inducing creativeness and maverick tendencies.
I must say I'm loving this conversation between U and Mec...
Schiller

now i believe mec that kurt cobain wrote later that he could actually control his flights, i would think thats not a possibility, do you think we can guide the wings in the direction we want?

MecnunK
6th May 2005, 04:40
Unfortunately I shouldnt say this here with minors present an all, but the human mind is an exceptionally beautiful thing..and it's all about bonding, communication and strength of will ..people are fully capable of bonding with dragons IMO where it's an equal relationship. It's about healthy trust, respect and understanding one's limitations. Only then will the dragon show respect and fly where you want!! Takes alot of control and will power to do.. but can be done..I have seen it being done. It has an added joy in that you are constantly conquering the self..and as long as you do, the flights are smooth and speedy and go in the direction you wish to travel..but as soon as the cutting edge, the control, the fine balance overtips and the dragon goes into a full dive hurtling towards the mountains the momentum is hard to change unless ofcourse you were very high and then you may get a whisker of a chance to correct and control..but the higher you go the higher it is to breath and the colder it gets.. not many people can survive in that kind of extreme atmosphere... Coming back to the questiuon..yes it can be done but you have to set your mind free..see most do this to escape and that is the wrong mentality when it comes to riding, th eride has top be for the pure joy of it with an unfettered mind ..reality should not be an issue before you start the ride or when the ride is over so no attemept should be made to dissasociate from it ...that's where wannabe riders fail I think.
Schiller
6th May 2005, 23:02
so it comes down to a true rider vs a wannabe. but then mec, how could one figure out whether one is a true rider or not, its not a flight that can otherwise be taken
MecnunK
7th May 2005, 06:51
welllll I do'nt think it's as balck or white as that but yes I would say the general rule works with a few exceptions. How to figure out ? ;) ..that's a tough one..how can the moth understand the flame from watching it through the window? It cannot!!
I do not think anyone knows for sure before strapping themselves down and getting ready to ride. And I am just probably postulating but I think two factors come into play.. Self control and 'Reason' for riding..Escapism in context of unable to deal with 'a' reality is not a good enough reason..experimentation will fail you 90 times out of hundred IMO. No battle plan survives first contact so until the deep blue sea and the devil are behind you with no sign of land is when you will know if you can truly ride or not. ;) I do refer to the trained dragons here though.. and also I do not recommend the ride...seen too many fall and crash..

saw something about coke and pepsi...not really dragons at all imo, these are other modes of transport..for instance with coca cola there is no flight..it's more of a communication enabler.
Schiller

hmm, coca cola is a mere communication enabler ? no flights like the dragon then?
also as I udnerstand it, with in order to ride the dragons you have to, shall we say, slide onto them, would there be no other way of getting on the dragons back so it could fly the same way?

You clever kids...
I must add that one of my close friends needed Coca Cola to function, much like others need Coffee and Red Bull etc. It had become an integral part of his life. So I found Mec's comments very interesting...
Even as a close friend, it was impossible for me to notice unless I really paid attention, especially since I spent most this time mowing the lawn.
Schiller
9th May 2005, 01:15
but if I understand it rt, mec is saying that coca cola doesnt have the wings like dragons do.
Waisay, I've always been a Pepsi man, always resisted the temptation to try Coca Cola.
But I can see Mec's point, that it's a transport without the flight. And it always takes you for a ride, instead of dragons, who once you become skillful enough, allow you to take control over the flight.
MecnunK
9th May 2005, 06:45
Umm certainly no flights!!!!! coca cola has no wings unlike red bull ;).Sometimes people do not even know they are moving..such is the smoothness of this mode of transport, Also no real dependence on the mode of transport either, it's all mental..and no real harm either if you can control the desire to continue wandering...Once you start drinking out of ther can it can be hard to stop it in that particular session until you have run out. However it is one of 'the' most addictive methods of tranport because the traveller feels so good about himself and feels things much more..self confidence amongst others.. helps you breath better when you walk in the mountains....but as sage mentioned it is very hard to spot a coca cola drinker..although I believe I am very good at it..There are a few very subtle tell tale signs....
There was once a study done on some rats, half of them were given minature dragons to ride and half of them were given coca cola.. The resounding result was that the rats with the mini dragons, ate, slept, rode their dragons in a very cyclical manner and lived on..
The coca cola rats were well...they didnt eat they didnt sleep and kept on drinking coca cola constantly!! usually in that scenario the body heats up and the heart rate rises to such a degree that heart attack is imminent!! It's not unusual to see steam come off the heads of cocal cola drinkers who have had more than their fare share...
Now you can also mix coca cola with dragons..!! I beleive they call that a speedball!!! mainly for madmen..I mean if you are riding a dragon you need both hands on the reins so holding a bottle of coke in one hand and trying to fly is one of the most dangerous things a rider can do..It's usually a short lived ride!!
Ohh and sliding into the straps is not the only option..although it becomes that way once you gain experience ... I would seriously discourage it..chasing it and jumping on it's back is usually the better method by far ..
Schiller
10th May 2005, 02:04
What then would you say are the signs of a cola drinker? Perhaps with time, one could learn to spot or even look for them.
Interesting one about the rats riding the dragon and being tested with coca cola. On the basis of it, it seems coca cola to be more harmful and posseses not the allure of the flight of the dragons.
The speedball I believe is one of the more common reasons for failure to land safely on solid ground.
When you say chasing and jumping, is that akin to taking a deep breath and letting the wings come unto you?

Description is hard in spotting because it is behavioural related and is a combination of factors..really have to umm experience it ;) I would describe it if I could but I know what ever I say will make no sense to you..
No No , the dragon carries much more risk and harm...the point I was trying to illustrate was the level of desire when there is a crate of it in the freezer and once you start drinking it can be relatively hard to stop at one bottle.....not that people dont or cant stop..As a matter of fact the coke is flushed out of the body with no trace with 24-48 hrs...
pretty much yeah on the last question...you have to obviously concentrate so that it comes to you ;)

Yeah I have seen Leon..a few times.. ;) think I may even have it on dvd. Gary's character was not doing either of the aformentioned things. IMO he was on something very synthentic... starts with amph and rhymes with vitamins.. just my opinion...
The coca cola gives happiness in a variety of ways once you are familiar with it... the dragon gives satisfaction ... ammongst other things and a brief suspension from the pressures of a futile existence..but then catogoristaion is one word that cannot be applied to either cola or dragons..it is very much an intellect and mood dependant transport thing with both ... amplification can often occur... and sometimes in a really bad way...

I am undecided about the fact whether it was deliberate!!! come to think of it, intention was there on director's behalf. what do you think?
Certainly there is that little foray into the dark side and a few moments where the oak leans towards the flower but the moment passes..It's good byplay because it keeps you guessing..the flower certainly looks to have blossomed..
Schiller
18th May 2005, 22:17
i think that since the flower was almost a bud so more prone to sways of the winds that veer you towards shelter and curiosity perhaps?
but its easy to understand the leaning of the oak, since te flower betrayed art that one finds in maturer stems and its easy to fall for the joys of spring.
the flower has blossomed but not as one would have hoped i should say ;)
MecnunK
18th May 2005, 22:38
I do'nt know about curiosity there my dear comma. Curiosity develops with seasons or I should say gets more sophisticated.
The oak played it very well so that intention was unclear whether he just wanted to befriend and protect the flower or shelter it underneath it's branch ;)
I do'nt know...I thought the flower looked promising in shape and form in the last film I saw..you are probably right though..not striking enough!! It's more a simplicity of petal arrangement
Schiller
19th May 2005, 15:57
Hmm the other possibility ofcourse is that the flower having grown in tumultous environment had a heightened sense of the seed and the oak was good as it gets to nurture?
the oak i felt was torn between the delicacy of the petals and the eons that separated the duo
i know, the flower has lost it, come to think of it, they nearly always do?

you should have told me the signs ;)

I undersatand but I just wanted to draw a general guideline here if you know what I mean....
but you do know what I am talking about right? ;)
I always wondered if Lucy has ever visited Pakistan along with her sister which you get when you press the accelarator and keep it pressed..

i have heard sufi that when people see lucy in the sky, they feel like flying themself, often trying to jump out of the window with wings
MecnunK
24th May 2005, 00:03
noooooooo.. Lucy is totally mad..she shows you stuff ;) she warps time and space and she twists your sense of reality and represents it to you in a totally different light ;) She makes colours ..well true colours, like a really good graphics card... she will show you forests of jade and azure blue skies humming in tune to liquid diamonds that defy gravity *lol*........some people get so convinced of her lies that they think they can fly without a dragon..to sad consequences usually...lucy is a beast really and stays with you forever in the sense that you may find yourself looking through her eyes again when you totally do not expect it...
Schiller
24th May 2005, 00:05
so lucy is madder than dragons then? that sounds even a better flight than the dragons . with colors and songs in the skies. and she stays forever, even after you have left her for another?
MecnunK
24th May 2005, 00:20
well I would not say she is madder than dragons..because through thunder and storm do the dragonriders ride weilding lightenings in their hand ;) but Lucy does have her charms.. Ofcourse I described her when she is playful and charming..she can be damn right nasty too ;) imagine dark and lonly caves with demons hunting you..you can hear them but cannot see, the dread of sudden death and unspeakable horrors to be unleashed upon you..insects crawling on your skin, underneath your skin, spiders as big as dogs chasing you through blood strewn corridors and screams of agnoy accompnying your footsteps...I think you get the picture... ;) Cola never did that to anyone!! although stopping drinking cola is is one of the worst feelings one can experience..

lucy can be that demonic? thats quite the flip side, i must say, however, the lure is, which side of the bed she will wake up on perhaps? also i believe lucy's allure is not as magnetic as cola or the dragons. though dont the dragons give you more or less the same flight as lucy's charms?
interesting you ention the absence of cola, i would have thought it would not be so alluring?
MecnunK
25th May 2005, 00:12
lucy is ***** you gotta ride or she rides you and your fears!!
Dragon's are different..much different though dragons also give flights into fancy..their rides can end up being nightmares too.
Not having cola and just having taken the last sip can be really painful and depressing..There is valley for every mountain!!!! and for cola drinking the valley can be quite steep.. As a mater of fact sometimes you still think of the taste and the thirst even when you have given up fizzy drinks for years..
Schiller
25th May 2005, 02:59
why did i put those replacements in, damn me ;)
is there a meth something then as well?
by the sounds of it fizzy drinks have strongest allure it seems, though i would have thoughts girls or creatures of flight would have the strongest. the subconscious comes to fore then? surreal art, it seems. almost dancing and swaying perhaps.
walking on grass is menial, one is actually aware i believe of everything that goes around just too lazy to respond perhaps. atleast lucy and dragons arent that way, wonder if cola is?
Schiller
25th May 2005, 03:20
makes you wonder what good is happiness, on par or a mere trifle then?
MecnunK
25th May 2005, 10:29
cola is also enhanced awareness..and the allure of cola is purely mental whereas with dargons it gets to be physical and psychological.....after a while you need to ride!!
Schiller
28th May 2005, 22:15
it is interesting to see how a lot of people fear cola and dragons. you mention the word and the sighs go up.
MecnunK
28th May 2005, 22:37
yep, in one of the cases it's justified whereas the other ..cola it's hype.
Schiller

cola is certainly hyped. as for dragons & love.. I do not think so..although it's a topic worth exploring.. As far as quality and purity goes, it's an experience thing, it's impossible for a layman to tell. But it is guranteed that everything is impure..it's just the degree of impurity!!
"I think love itself suffices for a myriad dragons perhaps, mec might not disagree actually, do you mec?"
love is can of worms...let's not compare to dragons, I dont think anything can come close to love although it's all abstract!! ;)
