We'll be back next time

Although I must say had Giles played in this test I might have switched my allegiences. I almost wished he did

James Blunt? What the......

Well at least a couple of good things has come out of this series.

1) Ashley Giles will never play again
2) Fletcher will be sacked
3) All those Glory hunting fans after the last Ashes will disappear

Shayan

Yes, Fletcher has to get the sack for this. Whoever picked the team has actually deprived the fans of what could have been a competitive series.

Easa

This might actually be 5-0.

I fully agree, the problem for england has been missing key players like jones and tresco who have in the past battled well against the aussies , while Geraint Jones has been in truly shocking form all this series and that has not helped lower order batting!

2009 is ages away............... but look for hope, Fletcher thinks England can still win this.

Australia have simply shattered most English hearts by putting on the run fest and taking the game away in this test match.

Australia should win this test match, but I want to see England giving a fight till the end.

England need a decent keeper who can bat, we need another Stewart.

It'd make an intersting Ashes if England goes on to win this test....

Otherwise with the likes of Hoggard, Flintoff, Harmison, and Peterson, I can still see England giving Australia a major challenge in 2009. They will not have to wait another 20 years to regain the Ashes!

Blunt is crap - but I ran over the lyrics for various farewell songs in my head, and those were the most fitting.

"Next time, you won't have Warne next time! You won't have Waren next time!"

I hope. :)

Hash

who is Waren?

evertonfan
17th December 2006, 11:32
It's a typo of Warne. I thought you'd be clever enough to figure that out Hash.

Oh no it's sarcasm is it? ::J

Grow up.

Dammit, why does Hash always find at least one person to crank up every day.

:)) You're a bit touchy today.

Anything to do with the numbers 5 (FIVE) and 0 (ZERO)?

It's actually 2-0 mate, don't know which series your talking about there.

Didn't say anything about any series. Where did you get that idea from? I just asked if the numbers 5 (FIVE) and 0 (ZERO) had anything to do with your bad mood.

This is a wee bit premature. Though it doesn't look good for England. If we can get a wicket in the first session (preferably KP's early) then I reckon they're gone.

other than batsman Giles and Jones not firing, it is not Tresco Eng is missing but Vaughan. Yeah Simon Jones is the other bowler but the team had options for Broad and Lewis, I guess we will just see them in ODIs. They got two things right after the first two tests - dropping Giles and Andersen. Lets see what they do in 4th test

James
17th December 2006, 15:28
Simon Jones was a loss because he can do things which no other England bowlers can do unless the wicket is green - move the ball both ways. He excels on flat and abrasive wickets. But again, it's no excuse, England selected the wrong team in the first 2 tests and were outplayed. The series was over on the 5th evening in Adelaide.

I hope we win the remaining tests, but it really doesn't matter anymore. It will only be worth staying up for Monty's bowling or KP's batting.

All I can say is

5-0

Whippy, I was very impressed with the way Cook played. I watched his entire innings; it was outstanding. Come next Ashes, you will have Cook and Bell both pretty much established in the team. If Trescothick can manage his issues, you will have a great batting line-up of Tresco, Strauss, Bell, Cook, Pietersen, Collingwood, Flintoff and possibly Vaughan. I'm sure you guys will be fine then.

James
18th December 2006, 09:35
Gamey I agree, Cook's innings was high class and we have a good chance in the next Ashes because our young players will have matured further, and the Aussies will have a less experienced team. Also this one will be at home. But for now I don't even care about that - what about this series? Not sure what went wrong - but heads must roll.

England need to be mentally and physically prepared when this series started. The last series was won because England played the better cricket but Australia were less focused and thought it was going to be easy.

so what happened in this series? Australia clearly stung by the loss reinforced the Areas which let them down in last series middle order batting (hussey coming in, clarke improving) and the back up bowling was bolstered clark in and likes of kaspo/dizzy out.

What about england? well the attitude going into 1st test said it all and the attitude on last 2 days in adelaide wasnt any better. Lets play for a draw and not get beat. Lets pick players on performances of 15-18 months ago..! Cricket like any sports is about performances on the day or recent performances. The likes of panesar/Read were two of main stars at end of pakistan series yet DF and co plummed for players who could handle pressure better.

To 2 take out to pivitol cricketers who were improving out of the side was yet another boost given to Australia.

Its not the end of the world for england. Australia will pretty much steam roll any side in world cricket right now. However, one thing Australia really prey on is mistakes and England pretty much handed the initative to the Aussies from day 1.

The likes of gojo, giles, harmison and few others should have been left at home!
