Hi guys.

I got this Rapidshare tip from somewhere on the internet. I'm not sure if it works or not (because I'm using my internet through a router) but I just thought I'd share it with you.

"UNLIMITED download/upload
Its very easy to fool Rapid Share server if your IP address is assigned by your ISP. Just follow these simple steps:

clean up IE or netscape or Firefox cookie( In this case the one that belong to rapidshare website)
On Command prompt (open MS-DOS)
type -----> ipconfig /flushdns <---Enter
type -----> ipconfig /release <---Enter
type -----> ipconfig /renew <---Enter
type -----> exit <--------Enter

Or save these commands in a bat file and run it everytime you need to fool Rapidshare server. Remember to clean up rapidshare cookie in your temp Internet files folder.

Now you should be ready to download/upload as many files as you want from their server.

Note:
If you are on a LAN and behind a router (using NAT, for example)---this will not work.
If you use a fixed proxy--- this will not work.
If you have a fixed IP address from your ISP or college or employer or whatever -- this will not work.
If you happen to get the same IP address from your DHCP server because it's assigned to you -- this will not work "

I'm not sure if this works or not...but if it does, then it's good news for everyone who's been visiting DM's "Ultimate Cricket Videos" thread.

Hmm...I had a look into it and here is what I found off PcWorld.com:

"So, you ask, why are persistent DSL and cable modem connections riskier than traditional modem access? Part of the trouble is that unlike dial-up modems, broadband solutions typically rely on "static," or fixed, IP addresses. (Your IP address is a number that identifies your PC when it connects to the Internet.) With a dial-up modem, every time you call in to connect, your Internet service provider assigns you an IP address. Under that scheme, even if hackers find your computer once, they might never find it again because your IP address is different each time you dial in. But because DSL and cable modem connections are always on, they're usually assigned static IPs, so every time you surf the Web, your PC has the same IP address it had before. Some providers, including US West and Southwestern Bell, now offer DSL service with dynamic IP addressing, which allocates a different IP address each time you boot the PC. While that fix doesn't make persistent connections 100 percent secure, it does help--assuming you don't keep your PC on all the time. If you're signing up for DSL, ask whether dynamic addressing is available. If it is--and especially if it doesn't cost extra--get it."

So I guess yeah you are right about broadband connections having fixed IP addresses. Have to find another way I guess. :) But the tip might come very useful for people using dial-up connections.
